    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the Fox 2.0 Performance Series IFP Shock, fitting all 2007 and up JKs. These shocks are available for one-and-a-half to three-and-a-half inches of lift and four to six inches of lift, and they're sold individually as front and rear so, make sure you get the shocks that you need for your build. Today we're gonna talk through the installation of these shocks which of course is a very, very simple one out of three wrench install. These will just bolt directly in place of your factory shocks, and you should be able to get these installed in about a half an hour per shock or less, but we'll talk more about the install in just a second. We're also gonna talk through the construction and a few of the features of these shocks. Fox is a really well-known name in the racing world and what they were able to do is take all of that R&D from building race vehicles for years and put it into these shocks that you can buy and put on your JK. You're going to get a really comfortable ride from a Fox shock as well as a lot of performance, and a shock that's going to hold up and take a beating both on road and off road. Now, Fox does have a couple different levels of their shocks. They're going to all ride similarly. However, they're going to be made out of different materials, so they are going to be different strengths and hold up to varying degrees. This is the Performance Series which is going to be a really high-quality shock, very, very well-built of high-quality materials. We'll talk a little bit more about that in a minute. Now, because you are getting such a quality piece and something that's going to ride so comfortably from Fox, you are going to pay a little bit more for their shocks especially this Performance Series because as I said, it is one of their higher end shocks. But, if you're looking for comfort level, dependability, durability, this is going to be a really nice option for you assuming you have the budget for it. These Performance Series shocks are made of a 60601 T6 aluminum and covered in a clear anodized finish, which is opposed to some of the lower-end Adventure or Evolution Series shocks from Fox, which are going to be a lesser grade aluminum material. Some of them are powder coated instead of clear anodized, and again, that is going to be a price difference for you. With any of these Fox shocks, you are going to get nitrile bushings on the bottom and the top which are going to be both quiet and last a good long time, and you are going to get a nitrogen charged shock. Now, there are hydraulic shocks, and there are nitro shocks. The nitrogen in a shock like this is there to eliminate any foaming and cavitation that you can get from working a shock very hard. A hydraulic shock doesn't have that protection, and if you are doing some high speed off roading or going over a lot of washboards, you're working that shock over and over, you can get some shock feed caused by that cavitation and that bubbling of the shock fluid. With a nitrogen-charged shock, you're not going to get that. Now, in general, a nitro shock will ride a little bit stiffer than a hydraulic shock. However, the ride quality really comes down to the valving, and that's what Fox does really well. Again, you're going to get a very comfortable ride, but also something that's very stable on the road at speed. Bolting an aftermarket shock on your Jeep is a very simple one out of three wrench install that you can get done in about a half an hour per shock. The most difficult part about installing an aftermarket set of shocks on your Jeep is removing that factory set if you have any rust, especially on the front upper shock nut. If you have some rust, that can definitely slow you down. That's an area that's very difficult to get to with a wrench. Oftentimes, if you have a lot of rust on there, it's easier to just put a big breaker bar on there and break the top of the shock off. It's

Superior Ride. Take on any trail with confidence by installing FOX 2.0 Performance Series IFP Front Shocks on Jeep JK. Designed for use with a 1.5" to 3.5" suspension lift, this Fox Shock features an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) mono-tube design that separates the oil from the high-pressure, nitrogen-charged gas chamber. This IFP design eliminates oil aeration (foaming) allowing for maximum performance and control both on and off road.

Race Proven Pre-Set Damping. Fox specifically engineered their non-adjustable Shocks with pre-set compression and rebound damping. Fox’s race proven pre-set damping will give you the confidence you need to put your Wrangler through its paces both on and off-road without the need to make any adjustments.

Rugged Construction. Featuring a nitrogen charged mono-tube Internal Floating Piston design, this FOX 2.0 Performance Series Shock is fitted with a 5/8" hard chrome plated heat treated alloy steel piston shaft to provide better dampening and rebound, when compared to stock. Fox Shocks are manufactured with a 6061-T6 aluminum body for extreme strength and are completed in durable clear anodized finish for superior corrosion resistance.

Direct Bolt-on Replacement. Fox designed their Shocks to be a direct bolt on replacement for your JK’s factory shock absorbers. Please note that an alignment, by a qualified shop, is highly recommended after installation.

Limited One Year Warranty. Fox warrants their entire line of suspension products to be free from defects in workmanship and materials with a Limited One Year Warranty. Some exclusions may apply, please see manufacturer warranty for full details.

Application. This FOX 2.0 Performance Series IFP Front Shock is designed for use on 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JK Unlimited models equipped with 1.5” to 3.5” suspension lift. Sold Individually.

    • Thank you for your question. Most leveling kits add 2 inches in the front and 1 inch of lift in the rear. You would want to confirm how much lift you are adding and get the appropriate shocks! If you have any more questions or concerns you can always contact us directly!

      Super easy install

Havent had time yet to get em on the road, but don't know why some say takes forever. Both front and rear took less than an hour to do by myself. But, it was a nice workout pushing in the shock to get lined up by hand. Once I got the bottom portion of the shocks in, I just used a flathead screwdriver and to manipulate. I just wish my drag link would of been so easy!

      Don't Be Fooled

These shocks make the ride much better in a JK. However, I would not say they are necessarily $500-$600 better. If your stock shocks aren't going bad, keep them on until they are. If the ride quality is going bad with the stock shocks, replace them with these. Don't be fooled at the good reviews telling you to buy these now when you don't really need them. One more piece of advice is to not rely on YouTube to give you an estimated completion time. I ran into all sorts of issues no one else spoke of which had me taking a total of 7-8 hours to complete this task from start to finish. Be sure you have the right tools and some extras because its a pain when you don't. Ratchet straps help compress the shocks to fit in the holes as well as your spare tire jack with a 2x4 on top. My preference when things go bad or need to be replaced is to upgrade from what was originally in/on there. These shocks seem to meet that standard.

      Better ride

I had heavy duty shocks before. They were way to frim. These shocks you can actually feel the difference in ride. And I can . Eliminate the two inch shock support brackets because these shocks are perfect for my ride height

      Front Shocks

Shocks are a vast improvement over my old man emu shocks. No more lane hopping on the highway when at speed and no more passenger head into the “B” Pilar when off road. Will definitely recommend these shocks to others.

      I would recommend this product

I installed these shocks on my 2013 2 door JK. They are a bit stiff compared to previous installed shocks. Ride is stable and very controlled on highway and superior to previous shocks when off-roading. I am very happy with my decision to purchase these shocks.

      Know your tire pressure!!!

I purchased the 0-1" stocks as a stock replacement on a 2017 JKU. The only modifications to my Wrangler are 32" BF Goodrich KO2 tires, the same ones that come on the Backcountry edition. They look really cool and the quality of the shocks themselves are perfection. I used the recommended tire pressures in my tires fluctuating anywhere between 35 and 37 PSI, and to tell you the truth, the ride was EXTREMELY HARSH!!! The rear suspension would rattle and jolt you like crazy and the ride was not comfortable at all. Then I finally figured out the issue was that I needed to air down my tires to about 30 PSI. Now that I have done so, the ride is much smoother and I am finally reaping the benefits of the FOX shocks. Cornering is agile and nose dive is all but gone. Remember to air down your tires if you order these shocks!

      Solid build

Shocks are quite a bit stiffer than the OEMs I replaced (after 35K miles). I have a lot of weight in my 2013 Jeep Wrangler JKU, so that is what I was hoping for. The passenger side upper nut does not fit until you break out some of the plastic abover where the nut is placed. Its easy to break with a screwdriver, but not in the instructions.
