    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the Covercraft Custom Pocket Pod fitting all 1997-2006 TJs and 2007-2016 JKs with a subwoofer. Those of you with Wranglers know that storage space in the interior is at a premium. And whether you have a four-door JK, or a much smaller TJ, having additional places to store small items on the interior is always a good thing. And the inside of the tailgate is often an underutilized storage location. But a set of pockets like this makes that unusable space into a very usable space. Now you don't want to put a lot of weight on your tailgate because it can add wear and tear to the hinges. But for light items like a flashlight, a first aid kit, and other small things like that, a storage solution like this is a great idea. Now, this is a little bit more expensive than some of the other tailgate storage solutions on the market, but this offers a level of fit and finish that the other ones don't. These pocket pods have a rigid, classic back panel. And the pockets themselves are made out of a dark charcoal carpeting, similar to what you would see as a trunk liner on a lot of different production vehicles. They have two separate pockets that each have plastic locking clasps to keep items from bouncing out, whether you're on the road or on the trail. These are designed to install onto the tailgate just using just 3M tape. Some of the other tailgate storage options on the market will actually screw into the tailgate. Now, you may think that the screws are a little bit more secure, but those options are often modular, using hook and fasteners to attach the pockets themselves to a hooking loop backing. So whether it's the hook and loop fasteners or the 3M, these aren't gonna hold a ton of weight. And like we said before, even if the pockets themselves could, you wouldn't want to put that kind of wear and tear on your hinges. As I said, these are designed to mount onto the tailgate using 3M tape. So installation is really easy and leaves no permanent marks if you were to ever remove this. Now anytime you're using 3M, you want to make sure that the surfaces that you're taping to are really clean. I recommend using an alcohol prep pad for this or another cleaner that is similar. Once you clean the inside of the tailgate, all you have to do is peel off the backing of the 3M tape and press it into place on the tailgate. The whole process shouldn't take me more than 15 minutes, and you won't need any tools at all, just the cleaner that we talked about. Like we said before, this pocket pod is a little bit more expensive than some of the other tailgate storage solutions. And some of those other solutions are modular, so they have different pockets and different attachments that you can put onto a hook and loop backer. But this provides a level of fit and finish that those other solutions do not, at least, in my opinion. So it really comes down to what you want. If you're willing to pay a little bit more for the fit and finish of a product like this, then this is definitely available. However, if you're looking to save a little bit of money, if fit and finish isn't as important to you, or if you're looking for a modular design, those options are available as well. So whether you have a large four-door JK or a much smaller TJ and you're looking to add some storage to your interior, these custom pocket pods will add storage to an otherwise useless area of the inside of the tailgate, and they do it with a level of fit and finish that you won't find in some other items. So that's my review of the Covercraft Custom Pocket Pod fitting all 1997-2006 TJs and 2007-2016 JKs with a sub that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Organization. Small items can get lost in the trunk of your Wrangler. Often there is no good way to store them for easy accessibility. Covercraft has created a solution to this issue with their Custom Pocket Pods. These pods can help to organize the back of your ride and also aid in finding small recovery items or something that could get lost like a tire gauge. By placing these items in the pods, you'll be able to make sure they don't' get lost or fall out when you're off-roading and hitting bumpy terrain.

Pod Features. Covercraft's pocket pods are made with material similar to that of trunk carpet for durability. The pods also each feature a lid over the pocket with a closure latch to ensure that whatever you put in the pod, stays there.

Easy Install. Installing Covercraft's Pocket Pods could not be easier. Created with a rigid back panel for support, these pods install right onto the inside of your tailgate. No drilling is required for install thanks to double face tape, so this is an install for any Wrangler owner.

Application. Covercraft's Custom Pocket Pods are designed to fit 1997-2018 TJ & JK Wrangler, 2 door and 4 door models including Rubicon and Unlimited.

super low quality for the price

I was quite disappointed with this produce for the price. It almost feels like felt that has been stiffened into a shape. It comes with an adhesive that you attach to peel and stick strips. I am unable to set up yet as it can only be done at a certain temperature. I would say this product is not worth more than $45. Would absolutely not buy again.

      Pocket Pod install

Separation is in the preparation. Practice aligning the pod. Markink corners with masking tape. Set one edge and then pull the rest of the tape. Mounts well and will hold light weight items in an organized manner. A nice addition.
