Simple installation for anyone.
I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com and this is my review of the Boom Mat Sound Deadening Headliner, fitting all 2007 and up JKs. Now there are a few different versions of this headliner. One is going to be for those of you with the 2007 to 2010 JK and another for those of you with the '11 and up. And, there's also a different version for those of you with the two door and the four door of course. These are also available in three different colors - black, gray and white. So you do have a couple of decisions to make when purchasing these, but make sure you get the proper fitment and the color that you like. We are going to discuss how these get installed in your Jeep which is a very simple process, as well as a little bit about the construction and ultimately what these are designed to do.This sound deadening headliner is there for a couple of different reasons. One, the Jeep can be very noisy. Of course we don't have any sort of headliner from the factory in your hard top JK, so you can get a lot of noise, especially if you have a big knobby tire. So these will knock down a lot of that noise and make it a little bit easier to have a conversation on the inside of your Jeep. These are also going to help to insulate the hard top. So if you have the Jeep parked in the sun and you have a black or even a dark body color hard top on your Jeep, you know how hot it can get on the inside of your vehicle. Or, to the contrary of that, in the wintertime you can get a lot of cold bleeding through the top into the inside of the Jeep. Well, these will help with that. These add a thick layer of insulating foam which helps to keep the outside temperature outside and the inside temperature inside. Finally, in my opinion one of the big benefits of a headliner system like this is that it really makes the inside of your hard top look a lot more finished. I personally don't know why Jeep leaves the inside of the hard tops white in the first place. I think that they should be a dark color or even black. However, they do, and having this in there makes it feel like it's a much more finished product in my opinion. Even if these didn't have any of the sound deadening or do any of the insulating that they do, I personally would still like to run a set of headliners like this just because of the way that they look. Now, these are going to be right around the middle of the road as far as a headliner for your JK goes. There are certainly less expensive ones that are going to be thinner and probably not do as good of a job insulating, and there are also ones that are more expensive that in my opinion are better made than these. But, these are going to be a nice middle of the road. These are made of a one inch thick foam material that again is designed to both insulate and cut down on some of the noise inside your Jeep. Now the foam that these are made out of is a fairly low density foam and that's not necessarily a bad thing but it does contrast to some of the foam used by some other headliner manufacturers on the market. This is going to be a little bit of a softer, less dense foam. These also don't have any sort of finishing material on the top. The foam is designed so that it has a little bit of a texture, and it does look nice on the side that you actually see. However, these aren't wrapped in any sort of actual headliner material or carpeting like some of those other manufacturers on the market. These are again designed to fit specifically into your year range and your body style Jeep, so they do fit really well.As far as how they secure to the inside of your Jeep, the whole back of these is adhesive. You simply peel off this backing strip and the whole back is adhesive. So, you're not going to have to worry about these falling down, however you're also not going to be able to easily remove them if you've got a new top or a new Jeep of the same year range. To get these removed you're probably going to end up tearing up the foam material.I'll g

Makes inside seem finished!
This will make the inside of your car seem much more luxurious. It helps with both sound and temperature. A nice mod that you don't notice is there, until you sit in someone else's jeep!Helpful (0)

Super easy to install. Can definitely tell there is less wind noise from the hard top while driving. My sub sounds better too! Also has helped keep my interior the temp I want it. Whether I want it cold or warm inside the Jeep. My biggest worry was that the adhesive would essentially melt and I would get in to find sagging headliners. Even with 80-90 degree weather and baking in the sun for days at a time, I have not seen any sagging. Adds a nice look to the interior as well!Helpful (0)

Needed solution from the cold
We take the Jeep to the mountains to ski all winter, and it was so cold in the back the kids would complain. The Boom mats made all the difference in the world. They are awesome.Helpful (0)

I literally spent 200$ to change the color of my roof. They do absolutely nothing to make the ride quieter. I was extremely excited for this product and now I am extremely disappointed. I’m hoping I just purchased a bad product and replacing it with a better headliner kit in the future will make driving on the road more enjoyable.Helpful (0)

Really makes a difference on long trips
I never had much to complain about the temperature or noise inside the cabin of my wrangler as a daily drive. However people have mentioned that they can tell a difference in road noise after installation. As far as the temperature buffering goes, it really performs on long road trips spanning a few hours.Helpful (0)

Boom Mat JK 4 door
These headliners are great. The install was straight forward. They definitely help with both sound and temperature. I had purchased them primarily for my 1and1/2yo daughter and am very satisfied. I'm considering Boom Mat's other products for future projects.Helpful (4)
Do I have to take the tops off to install these?
Yes, removing the top is crucial to ensuring a proper and secure fit.
how thick is the mat
This would be 1" thick.
Are these black or grey? Item picture looks grey but customer picture looks black. (I'm hoping for black!)
Does this set include the side windows as well.
The Boom Mat Sound Deadening Headliner just includes the roof pieces.
I was looking for a headliner that I can attach patches too. VELCRO/HOOK-LOOP STYLE. Do you know if this will work?
We have not attempted using velcro to secure anything to this headliner at this time.
The Boom Mat Sound Deadening Headliner has had no reported malfunction due to extreme heat.
Yes, this will work on the 07-10 4-door Rubicons that are equipped with a hard top.
These are designed specifically to work on a hard top. if they are attached to a soft top it would interfere with attempting to fold the top back.
The Boom Mat Sound Deadening Headliner will help with the vibration from the subs to give you clear sound out of the system,it will also help insulated the vehicle as well.
Thank you for your question! I would recommend a headliner for more insulation than a sound deadening system. I have attached a link below to one of our options. https://www.extremeterrain.com/jtops-usa-headliner-2-door-red-0716jk.html
