Hey, guys. So today, we're checking out the Bestop Sunrider Feature for Factory Hard Tops in Black Twill, fitting all 2018 and newer JL Wranglers. So, having a hard top does definitely have its benefits, but it also has its downfalls, and one of its downfalls is not having direct access to an open-air driving experience like the factory soft top has. Now, this option by Bestop is going to offer you that by completely replacing the freedom panels with a Sunrider feature. So, this is going to mimic the factory hard top Sunrider feature in the front, and then keep the rest of the hard top, which is the heavy and usually hard-to-store part of the hard top installed. So you don't have to worry about the back, but you can still have that open-air driving experience while you're driving around. Now, this is going to attach to the sides with door surrounds, and it's going to have two latches that are very easy to use and very easy to operate in the front. So, as you can see right now, this is gonna offer the benefits of what a soft top would offer in the front. But when you want to enjoy that open-air driving experience, all you have to do is unlatch the two latches, push it back, and there are velcro straps to make sure that it is secure while the top is open. Now, once you're all finished, all you have to do is pull it back and latch it down. And then you're all set to go. Now, I would like to mention that this is going to be Bestop's premium option when it comes to the material with that black twill material. Now, as you can tell, this does have a deep black look to it. This is going to have a little bit of an extra benefit when it comes to comparing it to a black diamond material. This is going to be a little bit more heavier weight. So, this will have better insulation, better sound dampening, and as it does have that deep black look to it, it is going to be a little bit more durable when it comes to UV rays and the heavier weight material is going to be a little bit more durable when it comes to weathering. So, this can be kept on all year round. It is going to work with both two-door and four-door models. So, it is going to be compatible with both, really a great option if you're looking for the open-air driving experience, but you're looking for that hybrid. You're not necessarily looking to switch fully over to a soft top, but you're looking to gain a little bit of better access to that open-air experience. Now, with all that being said, this is gonna come in at roughly the $875 mark. Now, again, this is going to be the more premium choice when it comes to the Bestop option. There are other options available on the page. Like I said, this is going to have that black twill material, some other choices may have a black diamond material, or may have a little bit of a different style to the Sunrider feature. Now, in my personal opinion, I think if you're looking for that open-air driving experience, but you're not looking to commit to a full soft top, you're just looking for a hybrid experience, then this is gonna be a great choice. Now, when it comes to install, I'm gonna give this a pretty easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. There is a little bit of assembly on the table, but it is very straightforward. So, you're gonna need a couple of basic hand tools and probably an hour's worth of your time. So, speaking of that install, let's jump into that now. Tools that I used for my install were an impact wrench, 3/8-inch drive ratchet, and a T40 Torx socket. So, our first step to this install is to take off our freedom panels. And this is gonna be replaced by our Bestop Sunrider feature. So, this is going to consist of a couple of latches, and then we can pop each of the freedom panels off. So, what we can do is just unlatch these and the rest of them on the freedom panels, and then we can pop them out of place. So, before we head over to the Jeep, we do have to do a little bit of assembly on the table. We are going to install our door surrounds first, and then we can head over to the Jeep and put the full assembly on the Jeep as one. So, for this step, you are gonna need a T40 Torx socket or Torx bit and a ratchet. So, I do have the top upside down. You wanna make sure that the door surround is for the correct side. So, this is going to be for our passenger side. But we wanna make sure that this Z-clip, this is going to be attached to a cable and goes inside our top here. This is going to basically be a spring assist. So, whenever we unlatch the two front latches, we push this up. This is going to assist us so we don't have to manually put it all the way back. This is gonna help us out a little bit.But this is going to need to go into the side of our door surround here. So, we can push that Z-clip through. It should hook itself in place. All right. So, once that's clipped in, our next step is to align our door surround. There's gonna be two pins and two welded nuts on the back here. And that is how we are going to attach our door surround. So, I'm gonna push this back in place. We're gonna take our provided hardware, which is a T40 Torx bolts that have a little bit of Loctite on them, and we are going to secure those down. Now, this is plastic, so you want to make sure that it is tight, but you don't want to overtighten it. Once the one is complete, what we can do is repeat that same process on the other side. So, at this point, what we can do is lay our Sunrider feature over where we took our freedom panels off and align each of the door surrounds on both sides of our sports bar. Now, may be helpful to grab an extra hand on this, however, this isn't too heavy, so you should be able to do it on your own as well. So, this side is sitting pretty okay. We can adjust the other side and then we can secure it down. What we can do at this point is align our door surround with our sports bar. And what we're gonna do is take our provided a long bolt, and we're going to put them up through our sports bar, secure into the top. Now, you may have two because this is going to be sitting on new seals, you may have to kind of roll it under. You want to make sure that this part is sitting inside your sports bar there. Now, once you kind of get it threaded, we can take a T40 Torx and continue to thread it in. Next, with our provided plastic spacer here and the same style bolt, what we can do is put this up through the roll bar and secure it to the welded nut that is in the door surround. And we can tighten that up with the T40 Torx socket. All right. Now, once that's all secure, we can repeat the same process on the other side. So, once both of the sides are secured down, we need to make sure that the middle is clamped down as well to make sure that the back's not gonna pop back up. So, we are provided with a clamp here by Bestop. And what we're gonna do is pull down on each side and we're gonna push it in place. There's a little tab and a cutout here that's gonna align these two retainer clips with the holes, and we can secure them down with our hardware that's provided to us. So, we're gonna pull down and we're gonna push forward, and it should sit flush to the sports bar here. Now, once that's on there, what we can do is take our provided smaller T40 Torx. We can thread those in, and we can tighten those up with a T40 Torx socket. So, before I show you how we close up the top, I did want to show you that Bestop does include velcro straps for either side. Now, these are gonna go around the arms here, and this is going to centrally keep this shut or keep this back to make sure that it's not bouncing up and down while you're driving around on the street. You're provided with one for each side. They are made of a heavy-duty nylon material, but once you're finished with them, and once you wanna close your top back up, all you have to do is take that strap off, put it to the side. Make sure it's in a good location that you remember it for next time. And then we can close this on up. So, once you're ready to close your Sunrider feature up, what we can do is pull it down. Now, there is gonna be that cable that's going to give us some tension, but you wanna make sure that your latches do line up and get them in place. So, what we can do at this point now that it's mainly closed, what we can do is pull down. That little hook is gonna hook into where our freedom panel latch hooked into, we can push this on back, and then we can repeat that on the other side. And once both are latched, then your Sunrider feature is all good to go.So, that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install.
