Does the holder come with warranty. Mine broke at the weld that attaches the holder to the round plate that attaches to the wheel holder. Purchased in Nov. of 2016, not even a year old.

Still waiting on an answer about whether or not the Jerry can holder comes with a warranty????

I have seen other racks that attach to the tail gate behind the spare tire and they all have a maximum weight of around 30 lbs. Is this able to hold the 40-50 lbs of a Jerry can rocking and shaking on the trails?

  • Hello, If correctly installed this is designed to accommodate a full Jerry or NATO Style can.

    Weak welds.

Too expensive for you the quality you receive. I will definitely be making one myself next time. After filling up and leaving the can in the holder, the welds eventually gave out. After hitting bumps and rocks, the welds starting to crack. And I can see the can in my rear view, and one day, it wasn't there when I glance back. So I immediately pulled over to check on it, and it was barely hanging on by a thread. It could've easily broke off and smashed another car behind me if it decided to detach on the highway. The included ratchet strap is nice but for the price, they should include more than one. I already feel like other than the welds, the strap will be the next to go. Overall, I'm disappointed. I do like the idea and love the mounting location, but the quality is lacking. I had to reweld the unit and now I have a fairly decent template when it comes time to build my own.

    Excellent product

Excellent product but just a bit pricey. Installation was simple and the rubber mat the can sits on is a nice touch. The rap around strap works well but it can also use a rubber pad to silence the noise created by the banging of the metal fastener. I would recommend this product to all.

    When you need it.

This is a great little helper to store some extra fuel in a Jerrycan. I follow the boy scout motto Always Be Prepared. Please it looks really cool back there and it doesn't block your view stays below your spare tire.

    Good idea, poor quality

Jerry can will not go in mine. Had to buy new plastic jerry can, and it will not fit unless it's empty when you cram it in, and fill it in holder. I liked the Idea, and mounting location. It is very light weight go the price. I will be using it for a pattern to make a heavier one that my jerry cans will fit in.

Review from MORryde Spare Tire Jerry Can Holder w/ Short Tray (87-17 Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

    solid earthy use product

Thisbjerry can miunt was extremely easy to set up and mount. No drilling, cutting or welding like so many others on the market. If u have a spare tire carrier of any nind this will fit! (Although with a full jerry can the weight may be too much for a stock tailgate mount). I have had this product miunted up for several weeks now and jt hasnt loosened at all. Also i have not noticed any rattling or other sounds even with the top down. Overall i am very happy with the way this mount functions and looks!

Barricade Spare Tire Jerry Can Holder w/ Tall Tray

it works great, looks good and is really sturdy. Very easy to install. the only complication I had was sliding the mount on to the bracket because of the coating. a little tough love did the trick.

    Spare Fuel

Holder is a good size fit for my 35" spare tire. Mounts easily (after removing spare and adding support bracket). Used Loctite on the retaining bolt and it has not loosened after several off-road adventures. The price seems a little stiff (the bracket isn't made of gold, just powder coated metal). It does offer what I believe to be a less cluttered look on the rear of my JK than some competitors models.

    Good product, couple niggles

I wanted to extend the range of my 2012 JK and this Barricade jerry can holder was by far the most economical option I could find. The bottom line is it works well, with some minor reservations. The first issue was it arrived with three sets of screws and washers missing, so I couldn't install right away. I went to Home Depot the next day and bought the required items. The installation itself was a breeze. The mounting plate attached behind the spare in minutes, and the tray attaches with a single lug nut screw. I then added a 5.3L Wavian jerry can and tied it down with the provided strap. No complaints, the can mounts solid, and it looks excellent. I had a chance to test the unit on a 500 mile road trip to Sequoia National Park. I noticed it vibrated at high speeds on the freeway, and also on lower speeds on rough roads. This bothered me initially, as I like things to be locked down solid. That being said, the unit is physically strong and the vibration didn't present any actual problems. Overall, recommended, especially for the price.

    Spare tire jerry can holder

Not really happy with the quality of the item. Was shipped with a 1/2 inch bolt to attach tray unit with the arm portion. The threaded hole for that bolt was not 1/2 inch, it was actually 3/8 inch. Also, the carrier still moves back and forth, so not very tight. Additionally, the arm that is secured behind the spare tire has a raised, welded circular piece that takes away space for your spare tire to be as secure as it's supposed to be. IMO, not very good quality for $135.

    Smart design

Very smart design for carrying a jerry can on the tailgate. Everything is built to fit a Wrangler and the stock tools. The bolts are exactly the size of the tire iron and the tray is built so it fits over it exactly. Easy to install and very, very sturdy. I have backed into at least two cement posts and it damaged the post more than the tray both times.

    Zero Stars!

This jerry can holder is complete junk. On my first off-road trip with a full jerry can, I glanced in the rear view mirror after 4 miles and something was missing! One skimpy weld is not enough to support this load. Nice idea, but very poorly designed. Please remove me from your mailing list.

    Twice the weld has failed

Purchased this Jerry can carrier back in 2015 and twice the weld on the mount plate failed. The first time weld cracked it was carrying a full 5 gallons on my daily commute. The second time it failed, it was only carrying 2.5 gallons. Both times the welds failed in less than a year. It seems the weld cannot take the weight of the Jerry can and fuel. If you purchase this, I would recommend only carrying fuel sparingly.
