Will this fit a 1983 CJ-7? If not, do you have one that will? I don’t know if the hub bolt pattern changed with the 1987 Wrangler. The vehicle I selected was just to allow me to ask the question. Thanks.

What is the size of the 1/2" bolt thread? I purchased this about a year ago, had to take it off for a few weeks. Lost the bolt that connects tray to wheel mount, and I can't find a bolt that matches the thread. Highly annoying, but just trying to see if anyone out there that has this knows the thread for this particular bolt. I haven't tried contacting manufacturer just yet but figured I would ask on here. 1 answer

      Doesn't hold up

It cracks at the weld at the spare tire mount (where the stalk welds to the plate that slides over the spare tire studs). Has happened twice. Not worth getting it fixed again. This is just wheeling around in the Death Valley area doing high speed runs in the desert, no rock crawling where it could get knocked against a rock or anything like that. Washboard is its kryptonite I guess.

      Great Product and Service

I recently purchased this item although it was out of stock at the time. It came back in stock less than two weeks which was what the CS department had told me when I made the purchase and it was shipped and at my doorstep quickly. Assembly was simple and the item is exactly what I needed. Thank you.

The product works great but if you don’t have a 3 Inch hole in your tire carrier you must do what I did. I cut a 3 inch hole with a metal cutting hole saw then grinded half of the metal off of half of the washer welded to back of the mount. the carrier mount washer is about 1/4 inch thick now it fits perfectly very happy with it so far

Review from MORryde Spare Tire Jerry Can Holder w/ Short Tray (87-18 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

Best Jerry addition on my jeep!

Easily installed this sturdy and strong Jerry can holder- tray on jeep! Unfortunately they were out of the long tray, I was on military leave and could not wait until the long style tray was back in stock, as i needed to use it now for camping with family, etc,... so I purchased the long tray seperately and installed it onto the short tray’s kit, saving the short tray maybe for future use. It came very quickly, very, very impresed!

      Exactly what I needed..

Fit perfect.. Held the Jerry can securely and quietly even in some hairy trail situations. It's a great option without buying a complete rear bumper storage set up.

Review from MORryde Spare Tire Jerry Can Holder w/ Short Tray (87-18 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

      Easy to install

I think I had 15 minutes in to the who install. I only gave in 4 stars because it didn't have any bolts in the package. Nuts and washers were included. It took me longer to go get the bolts that it did to install.

      Nope

Doesn't fit. Shows it with a larger tire set but does not fit even fully extended. Thread for top set screw was done upside down so had to get threaded down from top.

      Great Gas Can Mount

I've been using it for about a year and it has been a solid carrier. I was given a replacement under a recall, but never had a problem with the original. Used with a stock tire carrier and at first with stock wheels. Modified bracket to make it tight against tire. With 35's and aftermarket wheels don't need the mod.

Quality Craftmanship - Just Wrong Bolt

This would be a 5 Star review had the right bolt been provided. Great quality product and beefy. Adapter hole was too small and a 3/8 bolt with different washer and lock washer solved it. However, Moryde can tighten up the Quality Control and you’d save some time.

I used it on a ride this past weekend, no noticeable movement or weakening. I think this is going to work well for to carry a 5 gallon jerry can.

      Great Quality, Looks Fantastic

So far it's been great! The quality of the material and the workmanship, including the welds, seems to be top notch. I've heard concerns of the carrier failing with the weight of a full can, and the constant bouncing of a trail; however I don't see that being a concern. I guess only time will tell. I am currently running a wheel with 3.75" backspacing and a 35x12.5 General Grabber AT2 as my spare and the fuel can barely fits on there. Anything more than that and I don't think it would work.
