Merideth: What's up, guys? Merideth with XT. And today we are checking out this LED Third Brake Light and the Extender in Black, fitting all 1976 to 2018 CJ5, CJ7s, YJs, TJs, and the JK Wranglers. Now, third brake light is super important to stay safe when you're driving on the street, and if you have upgraded to larger tires on your Wrangler, you may be blocking that essential light and this is going to offer an affordable solution to that. Now, this is also great if you've got a new tire carrier on your Jeep and it doesn't have a third brake light or any option to use your old one. So you're searching for a modern yet pretty traditionally designed one compared to the other flashier options while also not breaking the bank.Like I mentioned, this will feature a very modern design that will be a step up from your previous third brake light if you had one with an LED design, which will be incredibly bright to make your rig super noticeable as well as efficient, requiring no maintenance at all over time like a standard incandescent one would. Now, the main feature of this besides the light itself is the adjustability of the system. Now, this will be able to adjust to the depth of the light as far as forward and back is concerned, in addition to up and down. So it'll accommodate two multiple-sized tires and wheels if you ever need to switch up your setup. Now, this will have a steel frame construction. So it's going to be rigid and not move around on you no matter where you take your Jeep, in addition to a black powder coat, which is going to protect the steel underneath from rusting and weathering over time. Now, the light will also have a tough plastic red cover and a seal, that polyurethane housing, which will prevent any fogging or moisture, or dirt to get inside. Now, one of the best parts is that this is going to have a universal four-prong trailer plug, which will make it very easy to wire up, and comes with a super long wire to make sure that you do have enough room to do so.Now, this kit will be roughly $100, which is a little bit more affordable than some other choices available on the page. Now, you will see third brake light replacements, but what they don't have is the adjustability and the extender like this one does. So if you're not necessarily looking for a replacement, you want the entire kit, this is going to offer that. Now, again, with this, you are getting the modernness of the LEDs, but also that adjustability that not many third brake light kits will have, which makes it great for that wide range of wheel and tire sizes and keeping your options open while also achieving the look that you'd prefer. Now, I think that this is an overall great option, especially if you don't have a factory carrier and want a light that's going to give you usable benefits at a pretty affordable price point. Now, this install will be fairly easy at a 1 out of 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter and should take you about an hour to get this bolted and wired up. Now, speaking of the install, one of our customers here has put this on their Jeep and is gonna walk you through what that process kind of looks like as far as the install is concerned. So that's gonna wrap it up for what I have to say. Let's go ahead and jump into the install.Man: We're gonna use this impact wrench to take off the spare tire and to put it back, and it has a 19-millimeter socket. And then we're gonna use the wrench with a T40 bit to take off the old headlight, which is attached to this socket here. And then just we're gonna use a Phillips screwdriver to open the plastic cage where the wiring is. And then this will be to splice the wires from the brake light and to cut them and splice them together for the other brake light, for the new one. And then this electric tape is to wrap it around and to make sure it's waterproof. All right, so first, we have to take off this spacer. We don't have our factory wheel on because we just got new wheels, but the brake light didn't fit, so we're gonna take these off. And this is a 19-millimeter socket. All right, now we have to take the top light off. We're gonna use a T40 bit. Okay, so now this is off. We're gonna unplug it.You need a Phillips screwdriver to take off this cover. This is a cover where the connection is. Take the Phillips screw off and just press this tab. And now we don't have the four-pin connector, but we will cut this and fuse our other one. So we'll cut it here and we'll be able to fuse our new wire. Okay, so now we just pull this out and take this wire out and we are done. Now we're going to install our brake lights. So we are gonna put the tire carrier first, then put two of these carriage bolts up here. And then we are gonna attach the upper light bracket. And with that, we're going to put a flat washer and a wing nut on both of them. And you can adjust this however long you want so that the tire can fit. We're going to loosely tie this so that it stays together and then we will adjust it after we're done.So we will need our tail light a little back. So we're gonna keep it up to here because our tire is pretty wide. So we're gonna keep our tire brake light here. I'm gonna fully tighten these. Then we have this sticky part. So we're gonna peel off this backing. And then we're gonna put it straight, like, how it's supposed to be.So now we'll put our spacer on so that it will fit. And then we'll put our nuts back on, tighten them. Now we'll attach this one. Now we will fully tighten it. So now this is tightened. We'll make sure all of these are tightened fully. And we'll check this one.So now we're gonna run the wiring through to the connection. And we'll have to cut this four-prong because we don't have a four-prong connection. So we're gonna cut these two. This one is a ground wire, so we're gonna cut this. Then we're gonna also cut the brake. And now we've cut these two. We're gonna route through here, through here.We are gonna push this grommet out, so then we can make sure it's watertight. And we're gonna put this wire on next to the screwdriver then you can lead it out. So using a screwdriver, we're just gonna push it in. Okay, there we go. So we got it through. Now we just pull the string to fit it. That looks good. We'll cut a little bit of this top wire off so that we can connect those two wires. So now we got these exposed ends. So we're gonna cut this to expose the lead wires. Cut this. Don't cut it fully, otherwise, it'll cut the whole wire. Yep. Now, blue is ground. So we're gonna attach this together. We'll keep this to the side. We'll tape this later. We just wanna attach both of these first. Then we'll attach the brake light to the positive. And I'm gonna get the tape.So now we'll tape this so that it's waterproof and it doesn't separate. Okay, this is ready. And now we'll take this one. It's electrical tape. So now we put the box back on. You can cut the wire, but I don't wanna cut the wire just in case we have to do other stuff. So we're gonna bundle it up and keep it in here. So now I'll put the cover on. Now we're putting the Phillips into the bracket and then we're done. We have to mount the tire and then we'll be done.Merideth: So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and the install on this LED Third Brake Light and Extender in Black, fitting all 1976 to 2018 CJ5, CJ7, YJ, TJ, and JK Wranglers. And you can find this right here at extremeterrain.com.
