The Barricade Adventure HD Front Bumper with D-rings is for those that have a 1987 through the 2006 YJ or TJ that are looking for a front bumper that's not only going to add some style and some protection to the front of your Jeep but also a lot of additional functionality that your factory front bumper just cannot offer. This is going to be a very easy one out of three wrench bolt-on installation and I'm gonna show you how to do it in just a second. So as I mentioned, most of you are going to be purchasing a front bumper for a couple of main reasons. One is going to be style, two is protection, and three is additional functions, and this bumper is going to give you all of those things. I'm gonna get into all of those details when we have this bumper sitting next to the factory one just because those differences are so very clear. But in general Barricade makes a really high-quality product and they do it at a very fair price. This is going to be a steel bumper covered in a textured black powder coat finish. Again a lot of functions that we're gonna talk about in just a second. And it's a bumper that fits and really flows with the lines of the TJ really well. So overall this is gonna be an excellent choice for you and it comes in right around the $275 mark which is going to be less expensive than some of the other bumpers out there. So really a nice choice here. As I said before, this is a pretty easy one out of three wrenches. Let me show you how to do it. For this installation you'll need a 19-millimeter wrench and for your uninstallation we used a 3/4 inch socket on a 3/8 drive impact. However, if you have a factory bumper you'll need a torque socket. So like I said this is going to be a pretty easy one out of three wrench installation. The first step is, of course, uninstalling your factory front bumper. I will note that this bumper has been on and off a bunch of times and the factory hardware has gone missing so we have some hardware that's a little bit different from the factory. Normally you would see a couple of Torx bolts up top here and also on the bottom. Our bottom hardware is completely missing so we're just gonna have to remove these couple of bolts from the top to get the factory bumper off. But again if you're doing this with a bone stock Jeep you'll have some Torx bolts in the top and some Torx bolts in the bottom. Once all of the hardware is removed you can just grab the bumper and pull it off. So as you can see with these bumpers side by side, the Barricade bumper is drastically different from your factory bumper. Down here you have pretty much just a straight piece of C-channel with these little bumperettes on the end, the little plastic pieces, and the Barricade bumper has a completely different look to it. This is, of course, going to be a fully steel bumper. It's going to have a different look and it's also going to have a totally different function and the function is really what I want to drive home here. So the bumper is pretty much the same width so you're going to get roughly the same protection from it but a couple of things are going to be really, really different on this. You're going to have a couple of D-ring mounts on the front, and of course this bumper does come with the D-rings. Even if you have the tow hooks on the factory bumper, I prefer a D-ring that way if you're using especially a snatch strap for recovery and that line goes a little bit slack, you know it's not gonna pop off of the hook. A D-ring is going to be much, much more secure. You're also going to have your winch mount in the center here and this is drilled for a couple different styles of winch so no matter what you get it's gonna bolt right up here no problem. And of course, the fairlead mount is built right in as well. Over here you have your a bit of an over-rider hoop. That's more of an aesthetic thing than anything else. If you're wheeling on a really narrow trail it might push a little bit of brush away from scratching the grille, but again more aesthetics than anything. Where the function does come in is right up here. You're going to have two light mount tabs up on top of that hoop and those are going to be very, very functional for you. The factory bumper down here does have a couple of holes in it for those factory fog lights if you have that option. So if you are going from a factory bumper with the factory fogs to this aftermarket Barricade bumper, you can use these light mount tabs right up here for mounted. Now that that factory front bumper is completely removed, we'll grab the new bumper and pop it on using the new hardware. So like I said this bumper is gonna come with new hardware, bolts, and washers, so you'll go ahead and just feed those through the top of the bumper into the factory holes in the top the frame rails. Wanna get all the hardware started loosely before going back and tightening everything down. Go ahead and do the same thing on the other side, getting everything started loosely and then we'll tighten down all the hardware. Now that all the hardware is tightened down, the last step is installing the D-rings. And that's gonna do it for the installation. So if you are looking for a bumper that's not only going to change up the look of the front of your Jeep but also add a ton of additional functions, I would definitely recommend taking a look at this option from Barricade, and you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.
