Ryan: This Barricade Adventure HD front bumper is for those of you that have in 1987 to 2006 YJ or TJ that are looking for an aftermarket front bumper that's going to add some style, some protection, and a lot of off-road functionality to your Jeep. This is going to be a nice easy one out of three wrench install. This will bolt directly onto your Jeep, but we'll talk more about that in just a second. So, when you are looking at aftermarket bumpers, chances are you're looking for one that's going to add either protection, style or off-road functionality and this bumper is going to do all of that. It has a ton of recovery features and light mounts on it as well as being a wider, beefier steel bumper over that factory one. And as long as you like the style of this bumper, I think this is gonna be an excellent choice for you at a pretty fair price. This is going to be a steel bumper that's covered in a two-stage powder coat finish so it's gonna hold up really, really well in the elements. This isn't going to rust or corrode on you. It's gonna stay looking good for a long time. So, let's talk about the way this thing is built. Of course, the factory bumper is really just a rectangular piece of steel. This is going to have a lot more style to it. It's going to come up at the ends here which is going to provide a little bit more clearance, but more than that is really just going to be a styling feature. It does have this hoop that goes over the top here that's gonna help protect the grille a little bit from some brush or branches if you're running some narrow trails. But really what this is going to do is provide you with two light mount tabs up on top here so you can add some accessory lighting, some auxiliary lighting onto your Jeep. In the center here you're going to have a winch mount with a fairlead mount built right into it. This is going to be able to hold up to a 12,000-pound winch which for pretty much any YJ and TJ is going to meet that one and a half times rule of thumb for a winch, so you're gonna be able to bolt a winch right on there without needing to purchase any additional hardware or brackets which is very, very nice. Over here you're going to have two D-ring mounts. Those are going to be very, very beefy, nice and strong. They're gonna bolt directly through onto the frame giving you a really strong recovery point. And this bumper does come with the D-rings as well, which while it's not a make or break, a reason to buy one bumper over the other, it is just a nice thing. You don't have to remember to purchase those separately, they're gonna come right in the box with your bumper. This is also going to have a little bit of a different style to it with these slots in the center here. That's going to be again more of a style thing than anything else, but it does add a little bit of a unique look to this bumper that I personally really like. So, as you can see, a lot of features, a high quality of build all at a pretty fair price. Now, a member of the install team will show you how to get this bolted up. Man: Tools used for this installation are as follows: a impact gun or a ratchet, a 19-millimeter wrench, a 10-millimeter socket, and a 19-millimeter socket. Now, to get started, I'm gonna use my 19-millimeter socket on my impact gun to remove the bolts attaching our bumper to the front of our TJ frame. Now, the hardware on your Jeep might be a little different. These have been replaced once before, but I'm pretty sure they're exactly the same. And then there's one just underneath. Now once all your hardware is removed, just carefully go ahead and slide your front bumper off your frame rails. Just be careful, you don't wanna drop this on yourself. Next, using a 10-millimeter socket on my slightly smaller impact gun. Now you don't need an impact gun to do this, you can do it with a ratchet. I'm using one of these, it just makes it a little bit quicker. We're gonna go ahead and remove our sway bar cover from the top because we're gonna be utilizing two of the bolts that attach our sway bar. Now, as you can see in the comparison with our old bumper, that our new bumper is a little bit shorter but considerably more heavy duty. We do have this loop here with two fog light mounts on it, plus we have our winch mount built into it. Now to attach our new bumper, it's a little bit more difficult, we're not gonna be able to use our impact gun. As a matter of fact, we're actually gonna have to use a open-ended wrench to do this. Now I have ratcheting wrenches that I'm gonna use. If you have them, that's great, it will make your life a lot easier. If not, it is still just a simple 19-millimeter to attach our new bumper. Now, to attach it, it is gonna use the same three bolt holes that came factory in your Jeep, but it's gonna be a little difficult for you guys to see on camera once I'm attaching it. But the bolt holes are just inside this [inaudible 00:04:51] right here, one here, one further back, and then there's the one underneath. Now to install our bumper, we're just gonna go ahead and slide this right over the frame rails. Now to install this, I'm actually gonna start with the holes underneath. This will make it a lot easier for you at home to see and this will actually help us hold the bumper in place while we fish in the other four bolts. Now, using our new supplied hardware that comes in a kit, we have our bolt and our washer and go ahead and just get this started. Now we're not gonna tighten these up just yet, we're gonna leave them slightly loose. Then next we're gonna go ahead and get in our upper bolts on our bumper. Now, these are gonna be a little difficult to see. We're gonna do our best to get a camera in there so you can see exactly where they're at. Now it's the same hardware that comes that we use on the bottom one. You have your bolt and your washer. You're gonna go right in. The reason we left the bottom ones loose is so we can adjust the bumper around to line up the holes properly and get that perfect fit. Now let's go ahead and get these in. Okay. Now that we have all our bolts installed, we're gonna go ahead and get them tightened up. Once again, we're just gonna go and use our 19-millimeter wrench because these bolts are a little difficult to get to with a ratchet or an impact gun. There you have it. That's all it takes to install our Barricade HD Adventure bumper on the front of our TJ Jeep Wrangler. For more parts and videos like these, make sure you come visit us, extremeterrain.com.
