Review & Install Video
I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the ARB rear bumper fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This can be used on its own or with the ARB tire carrier and it matches the front ARB bumper really well if you're looking for a pair. This is for those of you who are looking for a top tier bumper. This is a incredibly well-built bumper that is also at the top of the price range. If you're looking for something that looks really good and has all of the benefits and features that you would want on a rear off road bumper, this is an option, assuming you have the budget for it.
This is a steel bumper and like I said, it is incredibly well-built from the bends, to the welds, to the finish, everything is top quality. The finish on this bumper is a zinc coating covered with a textured black powder coat that has a synthetic wax embedded in it to make the finish self-cleaning. ARB really thought of everything with this. As far as features go, this has built-in high lift jack points, it has two recovery points and like I said before it has the option to mount the ARB tire carrier on it. But if you don't want to mount the tire carrier, it does come with a block off plate to cover up that hole. This will mount in much the same way as your factory bumper and a lot of other aftermarket bumpers right into the frame rails to give you plenty of strength to use this as a recovery point. And it has a cutout along the front here so that you can use it with your factory style receiver allowing you to still tow and have a third recovery point on the back of the jeep.
One thing this bumper doesn't have is holes for backup lights. However, if you weren't going to use the high lift jack points, you could find a way to fabricate some light mounts and recess some lights into this bumper. One of the things that I'm not crazy about with this bumper is the big ARB logo that's right on the front of it. ARB actually recessed that logo right into the bumper so even if you remove the logo itself, you're going to have that little bit of a rectangle recessed in. I don't like the parts that I purchased to be a billboard for the brands that built them, so that's a little bit of a turnoff for me. But some people like stickers. They like repping the brands that they support so that may not be something that bothers you.
Getting a new rear bumper installed on your JK is a really simple process. To remove your factory rear bumper, you'll have to remove the two bolts that attach it to the rear cross member and the four bolts, two on each side, that attach it to the frame rail. Once these bolts are removed, the factory plastic bumper can be removed very easily. It will just fall right off.
To get your new bumper installed first, you'll install the block off plate if you're not installing the tire carrier or install the tire care if you are and then slide the brackets right into the frame rails.
This bumper comes with it all of the hardware that you'll need to get it bolted onto the Jeep making the process really simple. This bumper is very heavy, especially when you compare it to the factory bumper, so it'll help to have an extra set of hands around or you can use an engine hoist or some tall jack stands if you don't have help at the time of the installation.
The whole install shouldn't take you more than two hours and you won't need any specialty tools, just some traditional hand tools. Like I said before, and I think I've driven this point home by now, this is an incredibly high-quality bumper from the welds, the gussets, the obvious care that was taken in building it to the incredibly high quality of the finish all the way down to the way this thing is packaged, I've unboxed a lot of bumpers by now and this one was by far the best-packaged bumper, but you are going to pay for that. If you have the budget for it, this is a really nice bumper and I personally would be happy to run it on my JK. Unfortunately, a lot of us don't have the budget for a bumper that is this expensive especially when we're just talking about the price for the bumper. By the time you add a tire carrier, it really gets up there. So if you have the budget, it's an excellent bumper. If you don't, there are some bumpers out there that have the same features or even more features that aren't quite as well built or quite as well finished that will save you quite a bit of money.
So if you're looking for one of the highest quality bumpers on the market, this is the place to look. From build quality, to finish, to ease of installation, this bumper really does have everything assuming you have the budget for it. So that's my review of the ARB rear bumper fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find it right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.
ARB's Tire carrier is designed as a simple bolt on addition for their bumpers to provide your JK with a rattle free solution for oversized tires. It features a unique rod end styled, attachment to your tail gate to create a smooth, symphonized motion when opening and closing your gate. This set up is easily adjusted to tune into your specific wheel and tire combination. Able to accommodate up to 40 inch tires, this carrier is made to keep your spare in place, leaving vibrations, noise and rattling in the dust.
This bolt on Wrangler tire carrier is made from high quality materials and features a CNC machined pivot with built in bronze bushings. This bumper is complete with a urethane packer to reduce movement and ensure noise free performance on and off road. The entire carrier is finished in ARB's durable Integrit black powder coat which features an integrated synthetic wax to provide self cleaning properties.
Unlike most carriers on today's market, this set up includes an integrated jack mount, which easily doubles as a step when a jack is not installed. It also features additional universal light tabs above the third brake light where reverse lighting or a CB antenna can be mounted.
The ARB Tire Carrier is designed for use with ARB rear bumpers mounted on 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK models.
