Hey guys, Joe, from ExtremeTerrain. And today we're going to be working with the HDX Drop Nerf Side Step Bars in Texture Black, fitting all '05 and newer Tacoma double cabs. Now, a set like these are going to be perfect for the Tacoma owner out there that doesn't mind spending a little bit of extra money to get a high-quality one-piece steel step that is going to be easy to install and is also going to make getting in and out of their truck a lot easier. Now, like I said, these are going to be made out of an extremely tough one-piece steel. They feature a textured black powder coating, which is not just there for looks. It's going to serve as a layer of protection from the elements as well. Right at the back here, we have that HDX logo, which is really going to just tie the whole thing together. Now, this is going to be your notch bar design here. As you can see those steps just drop a little bit lower just to make it that much easier to get your foot on there when getting in and out of your truck. We also have about 4 inches of non-slip grated step on there to make sure you can get a grip even in wet or muddy conditions. Now, one thing I did want to point out, the steps here are going to be a little bit different in size. The front is going to be 4 by 15-1/2 inches, and the rear is going to be 4 by 11.Now, another thing that I think is worth mentioning is this drop step design, you are going to lose a little bit of clearance. Now, it's not going to be as bad as some of the other drop steps we have on the website but it's definitely something to think about. Now, those steps, definitely not going to catch anything if you're just daily driving, but if you plan on doing any serious off-roading, definitely something to think about. You probably want to pair these with a lift if you are going to put these on your Tacoma. Now, with that being said, these are that durable, one-piece steel. So if these do end up taking a hit, you can be sure that they'll shrug it off. Now, if you are interested in the HDX here, there are a couple of variants as well. The HDX Xtreme, which is going to give you just a little bit wider of a step and also the HDX BPS, which is going to give you that 4/10 [SP] stainless but is going to cost a little bit extra.Pricing for the pair is going to come in right around that $400 mark. Now, that's going to be the middle to high ground in terms of side steps but you're definitely getting a quality product here. Again, that one-piece steel, that textured black powder coat finish and the HDX logo really to tie it all together. The nice drop step makes it extremely easy to get in and out of. And that grated pad on there, all huge benefits.Install here is going to be extremely easy, even for a pair of side steps really, there's pre-threaded holes underneath of our Tacoma that are perfect for mounting brackets and pre-threaded holes on the side steps themselves. So definitely extremely easy. I'm going to give it a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, should only take you an hour or two to get these hooked up to your Tacoma. So without any further ado, let me show you what you'll need to do it and how it's done. The only tool required for this install is going to be a 13-millimeter socket and an impact or ratchet. So we're going to start our install here on the passenger side. And like I said earlier, this is going to be extremely easy. There's pre-threaded holes underneath our Tacoma that are perfect for mounting brackets. Now, as you can see our Tacoma is on a lift, you could just as easily do this in the driveway. Now, there is one thing to keep an eye on here. There's two different sizes of 13-millimeter bolts in this kit. We're going to be using the longer 13-millimeter bolts to get our bracket secured to the truck. And then the shorter 13-millimeter bolts to get our side steps secured to that bracket. Now, this is going to be the passenger side front. And if you don't immediately see those pre-threaded holes that I'm going into here, they're probably just covered with some plastic caps. You can pull those right out with a trim panel removal tool or a pair of pliers. Next, we're going to move on to the middle and rear brackets and they're actually identical for the middle and rear. And also they match the passenger side middle and rear as well. So you'll get four brackets that look exactly like this one. The only two that are going to differ are going to be in the front. Next up is going to be the rear. And as you've seen this notch portion is going to go at the top, just like the middle.Next, we're going to put our side step in place. If I flip this around here, our brackets are going to sit in these boxes right here, right here. And there's one down there. There's pre-threaded holes in there. And again, we're going to use that shorter 13-millimeter hardware to secure the step to the bracket. Now, one thing to note here, you want to make sure you have the right side. It should be a little bit shorter at the front than at the rear, the rear will also have that HDX logo. Now, I'm just going to get these hand tight for now, we're going to get the rest of the 13-millimeter hardware installed, and then we're going to align the side step and come back and tighten all of this down. So at this point, we're going to align this side step. If you need that side to side that that slotted bracket gives, now is the time to do that. Once you have it in a position you're happy with you can run through and tighten down all that 13-millimeter hardware. That's going to do it for my review and install of the HDX Drop Nerf Side Step Bars in Texture Black, fitting all '05 and newer Tacoma double cabs.
