            Nice kit

Easy as heck to install. Downfall no instructions but if you understand the basics you don’t need them.

You can MAKE it work... If you try hard.

Doesn't come with instructions. The transfer case bracket had different size holes drilled in it and it wouldn't line up with the bolts. Needed to be re-bent in order to fit properly. Then the tub side bracket has these massive 3/8 holes drilled in it to match the holes in the tub... however the supplied hardware is a number 12 machine screw with regular washers, and standard screws. No washers were supplied for one side and no lock washers were provided. (-1 Star). So I used some 3/8 standard bolts and fender washers. I also cut the end off a 15/16 wrench so it was short enough to tighten down the cable to the brackets. Ultimately I made it work. However for $150 I would have liked it to come with the proper hardware, hole sizes, bends, and actually be a bolt on piece of kit. Why bother powder coating it if people have to re-fabricate it in order to get it to work properly?

            Cable Shifter

I lifted my tj 4 inches and started having binding issues with the factory 4x4 linkage. This product was simple to install and never had issues again.

            It’s what I expected

So I got it in the mail and first off noticed they’re was zero instructions included . My saving grace was a semi informative YouTube install video from Steinjager . I had to keep re watching the video to follow the install . The parts seemed to be of decent quality but the fit was a pain to line up . The backing plate holes for the shifter plate didn’t line up. The install took about 4-5 hours . Wouldn’t recommend installing oneself if you have fat hands or short temper . In the end it did it’s job and shifts a lot smoother but still needs adjustment .

            Not impressed

The bracket, although stout, that attaches to the body is totally flat and does nothing to adapt to the original mounts. The cable BARELY makes the curve between the two mounting points and was a PITA to tighten down. The angle between the body bracket and the t-case lever was not straight on and I've had it pop out of 4 low so, all in all, I'm not impressed.

            Cheap but better than factory.

Seems like hardware is cheap. I had to buy fender washers for 4 bolts on floorboard. But shifts nicely in and out of 4 wheel.

If you have a tranny drop or just want a smooth operating 4X4 shift control the Steinjagar shifter cable is for you. Eliminates linkage binding and adjustment. follow the instructions with regard to how far you thread the connector onto the cable (3/8") and it will fit up nice. I only wished it had come with fender washers for inside the cab. purchase 4 of them 1/4" at your local hardware store prior to install. The supplied bolts had heads smaller than the factory holes in pan. And the 4 supplied washers were needed on the underside for the slotted bracket.

            Low quality

The kit doesn’t come with instruction, and is pretty low quality. Of course it’s kinda hard to really judge it considering it’s offered up by extreme terrain for rubicon models even though it’s not compatible

            Great Product

Works great. Removed the clunky OEM shifter and this takes all the shifting difficulty away....very smooth. The only issue I had were the instructions. There are no written instructions....I'd highly recommend Steinjager publish a printable PDF with pictures....step by step. There is a Youtube video that is helpful...but I found myself rewinding and zooming many times to see the orientation of the brackets and adjusting instructions. I'm very mechanically inclined so that wasn't the issue. Total install time took me about 3-1/2 hours. A lot of that time was removing and reinstalling the center skid plate. Also had a fair amount of time removing the old bracket from the body since the bolts were rusted solid in the rubber bushings. Had to cut them off. Other than that, a fairly easy install. If I had no issues, maybe a 2-2.5 hour install. I still give it 5 stars.
