Safer Vehicle. The Smittybilt XRC Exoskeleton has an integrated front and back design that is built strong and sturdy to prevent damage from rocks and other hazards to your late-model Wrangler JK. In addition to increasing the safety of your rig, the black exoskeleton also raises your Jeep's aggressive stance.
Steel Tubing. Smittybilt's XRC Exoskeleton features thick 1.75 in. diameter, 0.120-wall steel tubing that provides superior strength and durability. A black powder coat finish provides excellent wear resistance, while a lightweight design (just 150 pounds) minimizes the exoskeleton's effects on handling and performance. The thoughtful design also includes 14 touch points for better rigidity, a windshield crossbar so roof access isn't cut off, and 4 crossbars for mounting a rack or tent.
Direct Mount. This single Exoskeleton mounts directly to your 4-door Jeep for an easier installation process that takes roughly two hours. Even once in place, the hard or soft top is still removable.
Dual Warranties. Smittybilt includes a Limited Lifetime Structural Warranty on the XRC Exoskeleton and warrants the powder coat finish for 5 years from the purchase date. For full details, please read the Smittybilt warranty.
Application. The Smittybilt XRC Exoskeleton is made for use on all 4-door 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JKs.

install takes some time but isn't that bad. two people would be easier but it can be done by yourself. took me a few hours to install by myself. mock it up first and make sure everything is set before you drill and you should be good. i've been looking at this rack for a while and ended up buying from a seller that had it 51 off so it was definitely worth the money. it's been on the jeep for a couple months and is doing great. came in handy to keep some rocks off the body while out playing.Helpful (0)

For the price I expected better. Some joints dont meet up all the way. The bolt heads rusted the first day. Wasnt packaged right and the rack was scuffed and dinged coming out of the box. Love the unique look but priceyHelpful (6)

Nope. Don't get it.
Where do i start... Upon initial install of the windshield "cage", i had a hunch that this product was not well built. When you bolt on the windshield bars onto the A pillar, you'll realize that the brackets are poorly lined up and the tubular frame that goes around the windshield and over the hood, is entirely too wide for the Jeep. In order to make it fit properly, you have to BUY longer bolts than what the instructions say so that you can "sandwich" the frame together with the new bolts. Next you'll notice that the b pillar bracket that bolt on right below the roof line are extremely terribly lined up. Good luck lining up that bracket either forward or backwards especially if you want to be able to open your front or rear doors. I would say the worst thing about this product is the terrible quality of the nutserts that smittybilt provides. They strip quicker than a cheerleader at party, they spin if they get seized, and they crimp up crookedly. I had to go out and purchase nutserts from my local Fastenal, which you could tell were waaaay Superior. Oh yeah. Don't buy the smittybilt nutsert tool either. Go with another company for that. All in all, for 1k, worst purchase I've made for my Jeep. Why not one Star? Because this thing is BOLTED to my Jeep. I have to have some semblance of pride. Even if it is garbage.Helpful (10)

I need a sponsor to put this on my jeep. The exoskeleton would add safety to my drive on the Ortega Hwy. How much weight could the roof rack support. Example. For a tent on top.

Can you still fold the stock soft top down?
Yes, the Smittybilt XRC Exoskeleton will still allow full use of the soft top, you will just need to remove the crossbars first.
Will this allow a sunrider top to fold back without moving any bars?
What are the dimensions on the bolts provided?
Will the Exoskeleton bolt on with the 11.75 inch pocket/rivet bushwhacker flares? I have a 14 JKU sport if that makes any difference.
The Smittybilt XRC Exoskeleton should not have any issues installing with the Bushwacker 11.75" pocket/rivet fender flares.
This should mount just fine with those fenders.
