Tough, Convenient. The Smittybilt N-Fab Nerf Step is designed as a wheel-to-wheel step solution that also affords your Jeep excellent debris and off-road protection thanks to its tough-as-nails design. With convenience and protection all in one, this step package is a best buy for your 4-Door Wrangler.

Welded, One-Piece. The N-Fab Nerf Step features a 3" main tube made of 304 Stainless Steel and includes a textured black powdercoat finish. Their one-piece welded design prevents cracking and failure in the most extreme driving conditions, and its this same design that affords the N-Fab Steps a best-in-class weight limit of 465 pounds.

Simple Installation. The N-Fab Nerf Step requires no mounting plates or brackets, and requires no modification of your Wrangler to fit. Simply bolt them directly to your Wrangler's existing side step mounting points using the provided hardware, and you're all set. Some models may require drilling out additional 6mm mounting holes in each pinch weld tab locations

Application. The N-Fab Nerf step is designed for 2007-2018 4-Door Jeep Wrangler JK models.

How much of a drop is there on the steps?

    RickF

    • The Smittybilt N-Fab Nerf Steps will have the step portion dropped approximately 4" below the main tube.

why is the hardwear silver instead of black

    kimbo

    • Unfortunately that is what comes with the Smittybilt N-Fab Nerf Steps - Textured Black (07-17 Wrangler JK 4 Door). I would recommend contacting Smittlybuilt directly to inquire about the reason they chose the silver bolts.

Can I purchase the mounting brackets separately? If yes, can you send me the part number? Thank you

    • We do not carry any of the mounting brackets or hardware for this Smittybilt N-Fab Nerf Steps separately, we apologize.

any drilling into the body or frame required for installation?

    AmnerisR

    • The Smittybilt N-Fab Nerf Steps will not require drilling on most Wranglers, however occasionally the pinch weld is not drilled, and will need to be drilled to accept the top bolts.

What models require drilling to install these steps?

    • Thank you for your question! We have noticed that some of the newer 2016 and 2017 models require drilling.

I did a ton of research looking for a step that would actually be useful as a step, unlike the factory running boards. This was the ticket. My passengers have a bit of an easier time. I only have a 2.5in lift with 33.3 in tires but these steps are not a dramatic drop down, only about 2.75 inches. Unfortunately it's the best drop down you can get for under $500

      Good so far!

I think they look good and were fairly simple to install. The only complaint I have is that the mounting bolts should be black because the stick out very badly when installed. I just painted them and it hides them pretty well.

      Looks nice, but barely fits!

Im not sure if they are slightly off spec or are just bent but no matter what i did there was no way to get all of the bolts in, had to leave the middle bolt on the pinch off on both sides.

      Cheap but looks good

Had bought another one from this site, heavy duty, bolted to the bolts on the frame, very heavy duty. Loved it, just didn't have enough step down: https://www.extremeterrain.com/barricade-extreme-hd-steps-j103996.html This one ... light and cheap! Requires DRILLING into the body (future rust issues for sure), and it came with a gold ball size dent on the 2" tubular steel ... ok, I get it .... shipping errors happen. But this is very, very light weight, not what I'd expect from this site. Way over priced for the material. I ended up ordering another one. Touch more $$ but hopefully worth it: https://www.extremeterrain.com/westin-hdx-drop-steps-textured-black-0717jk.html

      Wife loves them

These look great on our 2017 unlimited. Installation was fairly simple. You do have to drill 3 holes in each side. Our Jeep had all three holes in the body threaded. I went to the hardware store and purchased washers and lock nuts, instead of using the sheet metal clip style nuts. I wish they came with Stainless hardware, so they won't rust. I will be purchasing new SS hardware and replacing what it came with. Time will tell how long they last. They are magnetic, so not a high quality SS.

      Not bad

They look great and are very sturdy but the instructions were not right for my 2017 jeep and I basically had to wing it but I still love the look.

      Awesome!

I had a bit of a heard time installing these, thats the only reason I gave them a 4 star. You should be able to just bolt them on but they don't line up with the prefabricated holes in your jeep. It is very uneven and you have to do alot of bending of the bars for it to line up underneath your vehicle. I ended up taking them to my local shop and they put them on fairly quickly. Other than that, these steps are awesome! I have a 2.5" lift and these make getting in and out so much easier, plus when I'm putting my soft top up and down it's easier to do when you can actually see what you are doing by steeping up onto the bars. :) All around a great buy!

I've had mine for a while now and I've recommended these to several others. They love them as well. Haven't rusted out and hold really well.

      Wrong hardware

Steps came with completely wrong hardware package requiring a trip to the store and spending additional money after already paying $350 for the steps. Shows poor QC process. Didn't have as much drop as anticipated to assist my pregnant daughter getting in and out of her rig. Quite a bit of flex when used making me wonder how much weight they will support. They look good but that's about it.

I did not receive all of the bolts needed to install my running boards. I had to go to buy more bolts so that I could put the boards on my jeep.

      Smittybilt need bar/steps

The steps look great now that they are on but when they arrived 1/3 of the box was missing and almost all of the installation parts were missing. Had to call in and get another packet sent to me and the new packet was completely different than what the instruction sheet called for. I was able to make things work out after all but i hope they can figure out a way to pack these bars better.

      Ugly!

When they say “textured” they should say “not like any other texture around”. You would think that textured would be like All other Rhino liner look, not this one. I had some fit issues on the topside mounts and the hardware should have been black. I have an email into this website to see if they will honor “customer satisfaction” , we shall see.

      NIce steps, HW missing

decent set of steps but there was hardware missing and the instructions looked like they were for a different vehicle... Not rocket science so they went on relatively easy. make sure to tighten the big frame bolts prior to the smaller pinch weld bolts or the step will be not be pulled in all the way - one of the important issues not pointed out in the instructions...

      quality is not there

Mount locations did not line up to holes on a brand new jku, mount plates don't use all mount holes to pinch seam, this on top of a sub par construction makes for a very "flexy" feel, 150 lbs, and I hear squeaking when I step on it. I don't step on it because of this but for my kids to jump in, is why I'm keeping it for now.
