    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the Smittybilt Full Climate Jeep Cover, fitting all 2007 and up JKs. Today we're gonna talk through the installation of this cover, which of course is a very simple one out of three wrenches, you just put it on the Jeep, but we're also gonna talk through the construction and a few of the features of the cover. A cover like this is for those of you who park your Jeep outside for maybe extended periods of time and you want to protect the Jeep from dirt, from bird droppings, and from UV rays. This is also of course going to be a water-resistant cover, so it'll keep rain off of the Jeep, so if you do have the top down, this will also help with that. Although it doesn't have any anti-puddle bars or anything like that, so there is a chance you could get some pooling if you have the top down. This is really designed to be used with the top up. But it will give some great protection to your Jeep, and it does come with a cable and a lock, so it'll also add a certain level of security. This cover has about four different layers of material, and one of them is a spunbond polypropylene, which is what gives this cover its water resistance. It also has this unique diamond pattern that allows air and moisture to vent out of the Jeep without letting anything in. Some covers do have more of a felt material on the inside, which is softer and designed to prevent any chafing on the paint of your Jeep. This doesn't have that. What you see on the outside is essentially what you get on the inside, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just how this specific cover is designed. However, as far as the rest of the construction, I think this is pretty well built. All of the pockets where the elastic is housed are all double-stitched. This does have reinforced grommets for the cable and the lock, and something that makes this a little bit unique is the fact that it has specific pockets designed into it for the mirrors. So, this is going to fit really well. All of that, and it comes with this handy carrying case for when the cover is not installed on the Jeep. Like I said before, installation, hardly worth talking about for a car cover. This is a one out of three wrench installation, you simply take the cover out of the bag, figure out which end is the front, and stretch the elastic so that it's over the Jeep. From there, you can attach the cable and the lock that comes with it if you choose to, or don't install that if you're not worried about the added security. No tool is necessary for this, the whole thing'll take you less than 15 minutes. This cover is what I would consider to be appropriately priced. There are other car covers that are full covers like this that are weather-resistant on the market, and they're right around the same cost. There are a couple that are a little bit more money that do have a little bit more of that soft material on the inside and that have specific vents built in, where this is a vented material so the whole thing is venting, but overall, I think that this is right around the price where it should be for a full car cover that's going to provide some nice protection. So, if you keep your Jeep parked out for long periods of time and you want to keep dirt, rainwater and UV rays off the paint and the top, this is going to be a really nice cover that will accomplish that. So that's my review of the Smittybilt Full Climate Jeep Cover, fitting all 2007 and up JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

      It leaks

Well when you're roof is off water pools and one of the seems leak. Also the grommet that holds the locking cable pulled out on the first use. Not happy.

      Wrong product for me

Bought the cover to protect from unexpected rain. Few covers on the market will fit my hardtop Jeep. This cover is good quality but virtually impossible to install alone quickly. Maybe best for overnight coverage.

      Good product

I love the full climate cover. Very easy to put on and take off. The only downside is that it doesn’t completely fit over my aftermarket bumper on my Jeep.

      Average at best

Ok, I purchased this in hopes of protecting my Jeep from crazy birds and harmful UV rays. One thing you should be aware of is it is very tight if you have 35" tires and a spare with added lights on the A post and bumper with winch and lighting. If this were just 6 inches longer with would be 10 times better. As of now it is very tight and I think it will rip during windy days.

      What I expected

The cover let me keep my doors off overnight. It does a pretty good job of keeping water, dust and other things out. I always keep the top of the soft top on so the rain is not hitting it directly

This top is exactly what I was looking for. Living in the Midwest, pop-up storms took in all the time so having this cover really saves me the hastle and worry of my jeep getting wet.

      Not waterproof

The cover fits well, but this is not a waterproof cover. I have the top/doors off, and this will help in a very light rain. Otherwise, plan on some water inside the Jeep.

      Jeep Cover

The jeep cover is awesome. I didn't think that it would actually keep the jeep dry when at during a downpour. But it is waterproof. Covered the jeep during the thunderstorm, once the storm was over I took the cover off in the jeep was dry my rugs were in that way amazing. Great investment.

      Awesome!

Been using this every day. Takes me 2min to put on and way less to remove. Good material and good price! Hard to put back into the bag but that doesn't matter to much to me. Other than that, I'm very satisfied.

      Would buy again

Bottom Line: I would buy again and/or recommend to friends. Pro: Super easy installation; plenty of room/space; can secure via cable underneath center of Jeep; no water issues in extreme downpour with 30 mph winds for 3 hours; outer layer/material dries extremely fast. Con: securing via cable underneath center of Jeep is a bit loose for windy conditions; Material (inside surface) isn't the softest and unsure if it will cause abrasions to painted surfaces in windy conditions. Installed on 2014 JKU. See the installation pdf for the recommended installation of the cable that secures underneath the center of your Jeep. The cable seems too long to be used to help the cover stay 'snug' during windy conditions. During windy conditions (sustained 20-30 mph sustained winds with 40 mph gusts), I was worried that this cover would come off. I used the cable to secure the cover underneath the center of the Jeep, but it was not 'snug' and the cable hangs down and 'rests' upon the ground. The sides of the cover would whip around, with the now attached cable and would smack my sidesteps. If I didn't have my sidesteps, I am sure this would have been even worse and would have been smacking my painted doors. I wish there was a way to use the supplied cable to hold the cover on more tight/snug. I think the cable is designed more for someone to not steal the cover, though I think a screwdriver could probably break the supplied lock. I'd prefer something to make the fit snug over theft. The supplied cable/lock is only going to keep honest people honest and do little to stop someone bent on taking your cover. The overall fit is slightly loose on my JKU, because I have a slant/fastback installed. Product pictures here show it installed over the front bumper. I have seen pictures elsewhere with it installed over the front grill, but exposing the front bumper. I have it installed over the front grill. If it is too tight for you, try installing behind the front bumper instead. Also, if its a tight fit for you, make sure to install from the back first with the front going on last. Easy enough with 1 person. Super easy with 2 people. Takes just a couple minutes to install.
