Hey, guys. Today I'm here with the Rugged Ridge Tonneau Cover fitting all 2007 to 2018 four-door JK Wranglers. So, tonneau covers have a number of different benefits when it comes to the cargo area on your four-door. This one by Rugged Ridge is going to do a really good job at covering the complete cargo area from any prying eyes as well as inclement weather and even harmful and damaging UV rays. This is also gonna do a really good job at reducing drag on your Jeep while your top is off considering that the cargo area when your top is off is a large pocket where air can get trapped essentially creating drag. So, this is going to help you out with your Jeep's aerodynamics. I also just personally like that this gives the back of the Jeep a very finished look. It is gonna be made of a black diamond vinyl material that's very similar to the factory soft top so you can ensure OEM quality as well as a long lifespan out of this tonneau cover. Not to mention it's gonna be very easy to install. You have heavy-duty nylon straps around the sides to help you pull the vinyl. You have heavy-duty Velcro to make sure that this is going to be strapped around your roll bar, and up at the top, you even get the zipper if you'd like to add on to this with a windjammer.Now with all that being said, this is going to be pretty affordable at roughly $75 making it one of your most affordable options for a tonneau cover. Now, in comparison to some other choices on the site, those are usually just going to vary in design. Some more expensive options may not utilize the tailgate bar in the back, they may utilize magnets instead to seal the tonneau cover to the tailgate. Some other options also may come in a couple of different colors or the less expensive choices may not have a couple of the bells and whistles that this does. Now, my personal opinion, I think this is perfect for somebody that's looking for a middle of the road tonneau cover, it's going to get the job done and it's going to look good while doing it.Now before we hop into the install, I would like to mention that this will require a tailgate bar as well as tailgate bar retainers in order to seal to the back of the tailgate. Now, if you have a soft top, you will be able to reuse your tailgate bar and the retainers on this tonneau cover, but if you have a hard top you will need to outsource for the retainers as well as the tailgate bar. However, we do have them available on the site. Now, the install is gonna be very easy like I mentioned before. It's gonna be a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter taking you a total of 15 minutes to get this thing installed. So, speaking of that install, let's jump into that now.The tool that I use for this install was a trim removal tool. So, our first step we're going to start with the top of our Wrangler. Now whether you have a hardtop or a soft top, you will need to remove it in order to install this tonneau cover because it does wrap around the edge of our tub here and it does secure just like one of your soft top windows. So our first step is to open up our tailgate and then we can hop in the tailgate and start to secure this down.So, what I'm going to do first is start to wrap the Velcro around our roll bar. So I'm just gonna loosely attach this just to make sure that it stays in place so when we secure down the sides of this, it's not moving around. I'd also like to mention that this channel is going to sit towards the back and the zipper is going to sit at the front. Now, this part is if you'd like to attach a windjammer to the tonneau cover itself. What we're gonna start to do is tuck this piece of plastic inside our tub. Now, this is going to be very similar to the soft top. Right? Tuck that in there. We can start to move around the side. And we're gonna leave this back one on hook because we will have to attach a tailgate bar in order for it to seal to our tailgate. So now we can do this on the other side. So once you first take it out of the box, the vinyl is going to be a little bit tighter. It does need to stretch over time to fit a little bit better to make it easier to take on and off, but should be able to still roll the plastic down into the tub.So, once you get it started, it should be pretty easy. You also have these little nylon straps to help you secure it down. While we're here we can readjust our Velcro, make it fit a little bit better, and then same for the other side. In order to get the tonneau cover to seal to the tailgate, you will need to utilize a tailgate bar as well as tailgate bar retainers. Now, if you have the factory soft top you can reuse your OEM parts. However, if you have a factory hardtop you probably won't have the retainers as well as the tailgate bar. Now, these are very easily outsourced as well as pretty inexpensive and we do have them available on the site if you need them. So, all we have to do to hook this on, is hook it on from the back and roll it forward and it should snap over this retainer here. They are side specific. There is gonna be a little edge on the outside, so now we can do the right-hand side. Again, we just hook it around the back, roll it forward and it'll snap into place.So, now we can install our tailgate bar, making sure that the seal is in the back. There is a channel here that this tonneau cover is going to slide into. Slide it on. So, when that is about the length of the tailgate and it's matching up with our tailgate, our retainers, we can roll this down, secure that into place, and then we can secure the rest of our plastic pieces. So what we're gonna do is pull down on this nylon strap, that'll give you a little bit of extra stretch. You can tuck that underneath there, and that's all sealed on this side. Now we can head over to the passenger side and do the same thing. So, usually, you should install vinyl at about 70 degrees to have it stretch properly. If you're not in 70-degree weather or you didn't sit this out in the sun, sometimes using a trim removal tool, a plastic one, will help getting these into place just when the vinyl is tight. After it stretches out it should be fine. But I kind of use it just to tuck this part underneath just to get the corner started and tucked. We can do the same thing for this back one, then close up our tailgate. After you do your final adjustments to your tonneau cover, then you're all set to go.So, that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install. Make sure you like and subscribe.
