Key Features. Putting this Rugged Ridge Hood Catch Set on your Jeep will add to the tough, customized look in a big way, even though it's a relatively small detail. The hardware is made to fit like the stock catches, but instead of being a boring black finish, the metal is polished enough to be mirrored, which looks completely amazing when freshly cleaned. The industrial shape of the catches give off a utilitarian vibe, plus they're rigid and solid enough to stop the annoying hood flutter, even at freeway speeds, unlike the looser and less durable factory hardware. These catches are compatible with both 2 and 4-door models.

Construction. Since everything in the Rugged Ridge Hood Catch Kit is made of 304 stainless steel, you don't have to worry about corrosion taking hold and ruining the look down the road. Weather of any kind, including extreme heat and freezing temperatures, doesn't affect how the catches operate. The material is incredilby strong as well, so the catches can endure the rigors of hardcore trail runs. The mirrored finish is easy to maintain and protect by applying a coating of wax once a month, just like the paint.

Installation. You need basic tools to install the Hood Catch Kit, including a Phillips screwdriver and socket wrench. The job is fairly straightforward, and most people should be able to finish it within an hour, depending of course on experience. The job consists of mounting the different parts of the catch to the hood and front fenders using the OE hardware, placing gaskets included in the kit under the catches to protect the paint. An installation guide is available, which features helpful photographs and step-by-step instructions.

Application. The Rugged Ridge Hood Catch Set is designed specifically for all 2007-2018 Jeep Wranglers (JK) and Wrangler Unlimiteds (JKU).

      Disappointed

The installation was hard because of the bottom bolt, it is very hard to reach. Hood flitter on highway was bad, I had to remove this latch and go back to the stock latch. Any highway speed over 65 mph and the hood banged.

      Not an easy swap

They look great, still need to make a few adjustments to get the top and bottom to line up. The top part of the hood lock is easy to swap out it is the bottom piece that creates the challenge. There is not a lot of room to get in there and work, best if you pull the grill to access the lower bolt with a combination wrench. The picture shows using a deep socket but I could never get that to work, just not enough room for the socket and rachet.

      Hood Catch

Easy to install and much more sturdier than the original. Stainless steel looks awesome.

      looks good!

Kind of frustrating getting to the bolts but worth it. Suggest a small wratchet and a swivel socket
