Ryan: These Rugged Ridge Round Stubby Trail Mirrors are for those of you who have a 1997 to 2018 TJ or JK that are looking for a set of quick disconnect mirrors that will allow you to stay legal and safe when you have the doors and therefore mirrors removed from your Jeep but also something that's nice and compact so when you are running the trails, you're not going to constantly be banging them off of obstacles. These are going to be a nice easy one out of three wrench installation. They'll bolt right into place on your Jeep and we'll talk more about that in just a second. So when you're looking at mirrors for removing your doors off of your Jeep, you're really going to have three main options. One is going to be relocating your factory mirrors from the doors to the A-pillars permanently, that way when you take the doors on and off, there's no additional step there. The problem with that solution is that the passenger side mirror can be a little bit difficult to see when you do that. Now some of the relocation bracket manufacturers have made that bracket adjustable to make it a little bit easier to see but do keep that in mind. Option two is a set of mirrors that will just simply drop in the top of the upper door hinge after you have your doors removed completely. So you leave the factory mirrors on the doors, take the doors off, drop these mirrors into place. The only downside to this, in my opinion, is that you're going to then have two different steps. Take the door off, put the mirror on, take the mirror off, put the door back on. And those mirrors can't just be slid into place, they have to be bolted into place, otherwise, the wind from driving will fold them in so you have to get some tools involved and some hardware and it is going to be an additional step for you. The final solution is something like this. This is going to be a quick disconnect mirror. So this end right here is going to be the quick disconnect, that gets bolted onto the A-pillar permanently but your factory mirrors stay on the doors. When you take your doors off, you simply pop them off and pop the mirror onto the quick disconnect bracket using this large plastic thumbscrew, so no additional hardware, no tools are necessary in that process so that becomes very, very simple. The only downside to this option, if you want to consider it a downside at all, is that you always have this quick disconnect bracket on the Jeep, even when the mirrors aren't installed and when you have the doors on the Jeep. If you're okay seeing that bracket, I think this is a really nice and clean option. These mirrors are going to be very easy to see and because they are the stubby version, again, they're not going to stick out too far so you're not always going to be getting them hung up on tree branches when you're running those really narrow trails. Overall, an option like this is also going to be very inexpensive which is always a plus.So what you're going to get with these mirrors is, as I said, a bracket here, that's going to bolt directly onto the windshield hinge of your Jeep. Simply remove a couple of bolts, put the bracket on, bolt it back into place. The bracket does have a little bit of foam padding on the back side so it doesn't chafe the factory paint on your Jeep, so you're not going to end up with any rusting behind there if you ever do remove this. It's not going to have marred up the paint. You do have this large plastic thumbscrew which makes it very, very easy to spin that off to remove the mirror when you want to and bolt it back on again when you want to run that mirror. They are on this stubby arm that has a black powder coat finish. This is the round version of these mirrors and the mirrors are on a little bit of a ball joint so they're adjustable just like any other mirror would be. So you pop the mirror back in place, tighten down the thumbscrew. You can adjust the mirror, it will stay exactly where you put it. So overall, pretty good design, pretty good build.Like I mentioned, these mirrors are very affordable. These come in at just under $40 dollars. I think that's a good deal for what you're going to get here from a quality and a function perspective. And now a member of the install team will show you how you get these bolted up.Man: First thing we're going to do is remove our door. Now, there's two nuts on the door here that are gone on our Jeep but you would have to remove those first. Then you can open your door, release the door tether, and unplug the electrical connector and we can lift the door off. Okay, so we're going to release the electrical connector for the door harness here, we're going to push in on our tab and pull down. And the next thing we're going to do is we're going to release the door tether. All right, now we're ready to lift our door off.Now before you lift your door off, I highly recommend that you put your window down. It's going to protect the window in case your door decides to fall over or tip over. We're just going to lift up here. The first thing we're going to do is take a T40 Torx bit and remove the two T40 screws on the windshield plate here. All right, next we're going to grab our mounting bracket and the two T40 screws that Rugged Ridge supplies us and we're going to bolt up our mounting plate here. We want to take note that the welded nut is on the bottom side of the bracket. Up next is the mirror arm, and you want to take note that the bracket here is pointing up. So we can slide this in and we're going to take our knob and then we'll tighten up the mounting arm. And last but not least is the mirror. There is a bolt in the back of the mirror that Rugged Ridge provides us, with a flat washer and a washer. We want to remove that. It is a 12-millimeter and we're going to mount our mirror up. And again, this is a 12-millimeter socket. And now you can position the mirror where you would like it.That's going to wrap up our review and install of the Rugged Ridge Round Trail Mirrors. Did'nt work for my 2003 TJ
Great looking mirror and I like the quick detach design. But the provided mounting bolts that replace your stock ones must have wrong thread count. I wasn't going to force them into my stock threaded frame and ruin my threads as much as I wanted to have this mirror. If you order might keep in mind at least on my Jeep and my experience you will need to get different mounting hardware on your own.Helpful (1)

Exactly what I needed, easy install.
Needed some good mirrors for running with the doors off on my TJ. These were easy to install (15 min) and everything fit perfectly. They do a great job and don't stick too far out on the trail, plus have a quick release feature.Helpful (1)

I ordered a set of mirrors from another Jeep outfitter and both the quality and fit were not good. The stubby trail mirrors I ordered from you are built very well and they fit my Jeep much betterHelpful (1)

Really nice easy mount ! Seems rugged time will tell , only 1 problem the included bolts seemed to be the wrong thread got it started and it had that feel like it was cutting new threads ! Sure enough backed them out and saw the threads were cutting . So I used my existing bolts no problem !Helpful (2)

I see you
Great product! I replaced my factory mirrors with these. Nice classic look and the shortie style keeps them out of way. Adjustable door straps will keep doors from making contact with mirrors. View is limited on right but perfect on left.Helpful (1)

Doors off - still legal
These work pretty nicely. Easy to install the brackets which I leave on all the time. When the doors come off, these mirrors go onto the brackets pretty easily. I previously used a different set of mirror which mounted on long bars that inserted into the upper door hinge but they vibrated so much I did not like them. These don't vibrate like that.Helpful (2)
