The Rugged Ridge aluminum rear bumper pods are for those of you with an '07 and up JK that are looking for a unique bumper solution for the back of your Jeep. This, in fact, isn't even a full, all the way across bumper. This is going to be, as it says in the name, a pair of bumper pods. So it's going to cover the outside of your Jeep, leaving the center section of the rear crossmember more or less exposed. And of course you can get a piece that goes in the center there, but this is just for those outer end pods. This is a one out of three wrench install that shouldn't take you more than an hour to complete. This is going to give you a couple of additional recovery points on the back of your Jeep, and it's going to keep your weight down dramatically over a full steel bumper that you might otherwise bolt onto your Jeep. So this is going to be sort of a minimalist approach, while still getting some additional functionality and being a little bit unique. However, this kit is aluminum so it will demand a higher price. This kit's going to be more expensive than some bumpers and tire carriers put together, just for these bumper pods. So you have to be willing to come out of pocket for this setup. This system weighs in at right around 53 pounds, and that is with the pods and the brackets themselves, and of course the D-rings and the D-ring mounts. The brackets, the D-rings and the D-ring mounts, they are going to be steel, so that's where most of your weight comes from. The pods themselves are really just a cover that go on top of those mounting brackets, and that's the very lightweight part of this system. But even at 53 pounds for everything including the steel components, this is going to be a lot lighter weight than a bumper would be, certainly a bumper and a tire carrier setup. But you are, as I said before, still getting the functionality of the D-ring mounts, so you're gonna have some recovery points on the back, and in my opinion this system is really about being minimalist and being a little bit different from most of the other plinth seal bumpers you'll find. This is a one out of three wrench install that shouldn't take you more than an hour to complete, and the first step is going to be removing that factory rear bumper. There are a couple of bolts that hold that bumper onto the frame rail and also the crossmember. Once you have it unbolted, you can really just pull it off and set it aside. The next step is going to be installing these brackets onto your Jeep, and you'll just follow the instructions and use the included hardware to get these bolted up. It's a fairly simple process. You don't have to drill any holes. Just attach them to the Jeep. And finally attach the bumper pods themselves to the mounting brackets, and the way they get bolted on is through these D-rings on the back here. Again, very simple process. Some hand tools are all you're gonna need and about an hour's time to get this installed on your Jeep. If you've been shopping for bumpers, you'll know that this is toward the top of the price range for a bumper, especially one that doesn't include a tire carrier, and even more so when you consider the fact that this isn't even a full, all the way across bumper. This is just the pods that go on the corners. You're gonna be out of pocket a little over $800 for this set up. Part of that fact is that it's pretty well built. Another part is the fact that this is aluminum, which is an expensive material, and another is that just that this is unique and this is a little bit different. So more of you are going to be willing to spend a little bit more to have a slightly different look. If this is outside your price range, if it's not something you're interested in, there are a lot of other bumpers out there that have the same or more functionality than this one, for a lower price. You have a lot of options. But if you wanna be unique and have a high quality and lightweight bumper, I think this is going to be a nice option. So, if you're looking to get rid of that rear bumper, you want something a little bit unique, I definitely recommend looking into the Rugged Ridge aluminum rear bumper pods fitting your '07 and up JK that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Construction. Get the needed off-road performance with out the huge off-road weight with this aluminum rear bumper pod from Rugged Ridge. This can be used in place of your OEM rear bumper but this is designed to go beyond the raw, beaten path. The design for the pod allows over sized tires and D-rings but it cuts the weight down, upwards of 40 pounds lighter than the average steel rear bumper. The weight savings results increased fuel economy on road and with less weight off-road, your engine won't have to work as hard to get over obstacles.
