How do these products with the stick on hold up over the winter if your jeep is kept outdoors?

Richard

  • If the area is cleaned and prepped before installation of the Rugged Ridge Hood Vent Scoop - Black (98-17 Wrangler TJ & JK). The 3M tape will hold up well and stay put throughout the winter through all the seasons.

What is the recommended direction to install this, and why?

hypoxy

  • The scoop can be installed either direction. Forward will have more air pressure to the vent due to aerodynamics of the hood, while facing the windshield will prevent dust or debris from being caught or pushed into the vent.

    It works!

The color matches very well with the OEM hood parts. It also matches well the Rugged Ridge Black Grille and head light Inserts. The contours of the scoop adds some character, meaning it doesn't looks like a Tupperware bowl on the hood. Installed mine facing the window to keep out leaves and mud. 3M tape holds it down well.

    Looks great

I've always loved how these little scoops look on jeeps. Super easy stick on installation which I was hesitant about but I drove for about an hour the other day with 45mph headwinds and it didn't budge even though I installed it when the temp was about 5 degrees. Air flow through the vents is much improved.

    Looks Great!

The hood vent scoop was very easy to install. I guess I will have to wait to see if the tape holds up in the AZ heat this summer. I have a Billet Silver Freedom Edition JK, adding the black accents to the outside of the jeep is a no brainer! Looks sharp!

    Scooped up a deal.

Previous owner told me the vent leaked in the rain and that's why the floor was wet. I asked why he didn't scoop it. No reply. I couldn't really afford to buy the competitors then I found it at Extreme. Much cheaper for the one I wanted so, I got it. I have it facing forward because the rain came off the windshield and right into the vent. Works perfect even at the car wash. Yes I even wash my Jeep. Thanks guys.

Keeps Mud, Leaves and Snow Out

I park outside 24/7 and this does a great job at keeping out the mud, snow and leaves that clogged up the vent last winter which helps with the airflow in side when you are trying to get your jeep warm in the snow. I chose to mount this with the opening towards the windshield. This does a really good job keeping mud and rain out of the vent. There is no drop in air volume when you are driving slow or stopped. At highway speed there is more air blowing through the system because of the pressure created by the windshield. This is the same principle as cowl induction on some '70 sports cars. Overall, this was well worth the price and would be on the recommend to buy for your jeep list that every new jeep owner has.

    Vent scoop looks good.

Added this vent scoop to my '14 Freedom Edition JK. I live in the Vegas area and was looking for a little help with A/C output. I can't say I have noticed any appreciable difference in output. The vent scoop does offer a nice look to the hood area and seems to be good at keeping debris like leaves out of the vent intake.

    Perfect

I bought this product mostly for the addition to the front of my jeep. It really compliments the flame red mine is. The change in air flow was HUGE! I thought the air flow would always be so low compared to my past Honda but the output is twice as better than before. If you complain about your air flow or want to add something to the front of your jeep THIS is what you are looking for.
