Review & Install Video
These are for those of you that are looking for a high quality headlight guard made of a very high quality material, and a guard that looks a little bit different than a lot of the other ones on the market. Today we're gonna talk through the installation of these headlight guards, which is a very simple one out of three wrench install. You will have to remove the grille in order to get these installed, but that's a very simple process that anyone can do in their driveway, in around an hour, and we'll talk more about that installation in just a second. Most of the headlight guards you'll find out there just have some vertical slats in them. These are more of a geometric design, and these are going to be made out of a cast aluminum material as opposed to a mild steel material like most of the others. And that is because this is part of Rugged Ridge's Elite trim piece package that they're putting together. These are going to be, again, a more modern, more updated styling, and also made of some higher quality materials, but the pricing is still very fair. So whether you're using this as a standalone piece or to match some other light guards that you have on your Jeep, I think this is going to be at a higher, more premium product for a fair price. So the main purpose of a headlight guard is to protect your headlight. And you are gonna get a little bit of protection against brush and branches when you're on those narrow trails, anything that might be drug across the grille and scratch the headlight housing itself. However this isn't going to provide a lot of impact resistance. If you're driving down the road, a stone or a rock gets kicked up, if it does happen to hit the guard, it will save you from cracking a headlight. However, for the most part, this is going to be something that is an aesthetic mod. This is gonna change up the look of your Jeep, give you more of that off-road safari look that you're after, and if that's the look that you like, these are going to be a really nice option for you.As I said before, this is part of Rugged Ridge's Elite series, so these are going to be a higher grade material. These are cast aluminum covered in a textured powder coat finish. They're going to install very easily. And for a trim piece, these are going to have a large impact on the look of your Jeep. And, in my opinion, they don't cut down on light output that much. As I said before, this is going to be a very simple one out of three wrench install. All you'll need to get it done is a trim removal tool, and a Torx bit, and about an hour's time. You might even be able to get this done a little bit quicker. The first step is going to be removing the grille from your Jeep, and in order to do that, you just have to pop the hood, remove the six plastic clips that are across the top, then just give the grille a tug and it'll come right off. After that there are four screws that hold the factory headlight retention ring in place. Those are those Torx head screws. One you remove the screws, you can get rid of that factory retention ring, put your new headlight guard in place, and replace those factory screws to get everything bolted back together. Of course you'll do the same thing on both the driver and passenger side headlight. Go ahead and replace the grille by snapping the clips into place on the bottom, and pushing the clips across the top back into position as well, and finally closing your hood to finish up the install. This is something anybody can get done in their driveway. These headlight guards are gonna run you right around $50, which I do think is a pretty fair price. There are some other headlight guards out there from other brands that are going to be a little bit more of that old school design, going to use a slightly lower grade of material, so I think you are getting a pretty good deal with these. They're a little bit more geometric, a little bit more modern, and a higher grade material, all for a fair price. So if you're looking to change up the look of your Jeep, you like the look of a light guard on your headlight, and you also wanted some light protection against brush, I think this is gonna be a pretty good deal for you. These are going to be a new and up to date more modern design that's made of high quality material for a fair price. So that's my review of the Rugged Ridge Elite Headlight Euro Guards, fitting your 2007 and up JK, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
