    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount System and Phone Kit fitting all 2011 to 2016 JK's. There's also a version of this available for the 2007 to 2010 Wranglers and you can get it with or without the phone kit. I like this kit because it allows you to retain the use of your dashboard storage area but adds the function of a phone holder that holds your phone really securely and puts it close to your line of vision. This is a really nice spot for your phone to be if you're using it for navigation while driving. The whole kit is made out of a high-quality plastic and the phone holder itself is mounted on a swivel ball so you can tilt it to fit your needs. The holder is spring-loaded so you can put any size phone in any orientation in there and it'll be sure to hold it nice and tight without falling out. Installing this holder into your Jeep is a really simple process. All you need to do is clip it over the factory trim on the dashboard, install the insert tray and screw on the universal ball mount. From there you can add your phone holder or whatever other accessory holder you decide to use. Installation shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes and you won't need any tools at all. If you've been shopping around for a way to mount your phone where it's visible, you'll know that mounting systems can be really expensive and for something that is vehicle specific, looks factory and holds your phone really securely, I think this one's priced really fairly. So if you're like me and you use your phone as your navigation system in your Jeep and you're looking for a way to mount it that isn't too far out of your line of sight, I think this is a really nice option that looks factory and is fairly priced. So that's my review of the Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount System and Phone Kit fitting all 2011 to 2016 JK's that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Dual Mount. Maximize your JK's dash space with the Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount System. Featuring a dual mount design, this Jeep dash tray includes a tripod mount and universal ball socket style mount that can be used simultaneously while providing at hand access to GPS, cameras, gadgets and more. It comes equipped with a universal phone mount for instant installation.

Finish and Installation. Ideal for stowing small items, this dash tray features a form fit design in a handsome OE styled black finish to blend into your factory interior. It makes use of the factory dash recess and does not require drilling or modification for installation.

Application. The Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount System is designed for use in 2011-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JK Unlimited models.

Will a radar detector fit flat in the holder?

    • This item will hold a phone that is up to 3.6 inches wide. If the radar detector in question is that wide or narrower, there should be no issue using the mount to hold the radar detector.

Unfortunately I lost the screw in the dash tray that would hold this unit in. Can anyone tell me the size of the screw so I could buy this?

    • The OEM bolt will be an M4x.07 bolt. We recommend a stainless or coated bolt to prevent corrosion from forming.

      Not bad.

I have a Galaxy Note 8. This holder does ok with holding its girthy body most of the time. However, too many potholes or bumps will send it flying, and if you're in a jeep with no doors on this could mean very bad things for a thousand dollar device. Another thing I'm not overly impressed with about this holder is that it doesnt seem to tilt towards the drivers face. Up and down it tilts well just not left to right. The things I like about this unit is that it mounts to the dash and not a chinsy suction cup to the windshield. It's made of very durable plastic and the squeezer arms are solid too. Also you can attach a GoPro to the back side of it to record all your wicked Jeep adventures.

      decent product - lousy instructions

The phone cradle holds the phone securely but phones larger than my Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus probably won't be able to fit inside the cradle. The installation was o-k no thanks to the instructions that I think would have been rejected from a certain overseas furniture manufacturer. I gave it three stars because it does work and I'm an eternal optimist but there are probably better dash mount systems out there.

      phone mount

I have a waterproof case on my phone which makes it a little bigger than a normal phone. The mount adjust out to kinda fit the phone, but the first bump I hit the phone flew out of the mount. You also get a lot of vibration with the phone in the holder it is a little loose where the phone mount and the mount that attaches to the dash come together. Maybe a little super glue would secure the to parts together for a more stable mount.

      Decen set up

I like it but it also cuts your plastic on dash when installing it, so if you don’t like it anymore you will be left with some marks, otherwise it works good

      Sorry but can't recommend

I bought this for my iPhone. While it fits, it's at the edge of not fitting. The issue is, the sides are too flimsy to hold it in place and forget if you are offroad or even on a road with a few potholes. Install was fast and easy, but they need to do something about the holding mechanism. That said, if I take off the flimsy arms,my GPS attaches perfectly and hold well.

      Must have

      For City, not off road!

Works very well in the city! Off road, not so well. iPhone is back in the cup holder for off roading. Phone fell off the holder several times while off roading. I think if it had the fingers on all 4 sides, it would work better.

      Terrible.

As soon as I put my phone in it, one of the fingers that hold my phone, broke. Then I removed it to return it, and found it had scratched/gouged the dash-plastic. The local parts department told me it's roughly 250.00 to replace the part. Absolute garbage.
