I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 Full Width Rock Crawler Front Bumper with Winch Mount, fitting all 2007 to 2017 JKs. Today, we're gonna talk about the construction and some of the features of this front bumper. This bumper is gonna be for those of you who want to upgrade your plastic factory front bumper on your Jeep to something that's going to offer a lot more protection, both on-road and off-road. This bumper is also going to provide a ton more features than that factory front bumper has, all while having a fairly unique style. Now, there are a couple of bumpers out there right now that share a similar style, which is really more of a plate steel center and a tubular bumper end. It's almost like a hybrid in that way, and it does give a unique style that a lot of you guys really like. So if you're looking for that style, you want a lot more function, and you want some more protection, this is a nice option. As far as the way this bumper is built, as I mentioned before, this is a bit of a hybrid. It is almost like it's a plate steel bumper from the frame rails in, just a very stubby version, and then it has full-width tubular corners. And, again, there a couple other bumpers on the market that have a similar style. The tubes that are on the outside of this bumper are going to provide some additional protection over your factory plastic bumper, but, in my opinion, they're not gonna provide quite as much protection as a plate steel bumper would. Of course, this whole bumper is covered in a textured black powder coat finish to help it resist rust and corrosion and keep it looking good. As far as features go, the first one is right in the name. This has a winch mount built right into it. This will accept any standard winch that's on the market as far as a footprint goes. It'll bolt right up. You can put a roller fairlead or a hawse fairlead right on the front here, and you're good to go without the need to purchase an additional winch mount and plate, and that's a really nice feature. It also mounts your winch a little bit lower down into the bumper instead of being right up on top, which just gives it a little bit of a cleaner look, in my opinion. A couple of the other features that are included with this bumper, of course, tied into the tubular corners, is this bumper hoop that comes up on front, and it has two light mounting tabs on top of it. Those are designed for light mount pods, or you could fabricate something to also run an LED light bar on there if you'd like. There are also some additional holes right here that you could put another couple of lights on it if you choose to. Down here, you have two D-ring mounts that, like with most aftermarket bumpers, bolt directly through the bumper into the frame horns, giving you plenty of strength for recovery. And it comes with two D-rings right in the box for you, so it's just something you don't have to think about purchasing separately. Whenever you have a winch mount, having D-rings on the bumper is very important, because then you can use a snatch block in order to double the pulling power of your winch. Or if you're just doing a more traditional recovery without the winch, you can use a snatch strap or a tow strap right onto those D-rings without the worry of bending anything or damaging the bumper. A couple other features that you'll notice very prominently are these holes down on the lower section of the bumper. Now, those are there for a little bit of weight savings and a little bit of style, but nothing more. Getting pretty much any aftermarket bumper installed on your Jeep is gonna be a very simple process. On your JK, the first step is to remove the splash shield from the bottom, and then remove your fog light wiring harness that is clipped into the bumper, and finally remove the eight nuts that are holding the bumper onto the Jeep. Once those nuts are removed, the whole bumper will just slide right off, and you can slide the new one over the frame horns. This bumper, again, as most others, has a few studs that'll slide directly into those factory holes. It comes with hardware that you'll use to attach it onto the frame horns, and the process is very, very simple. A couple of those bolts may be a little bit difficult to get to when you're removing that factory bumper, so having some extensions and a couple of universals on hand will be handy. This whole bumper installation shouldn't take you more than an hour to get done. Now, this bumper is a little bit heavy, and I always recommend, when you're installing a winch on a winch bumper like this one, that you bolt the winch to the bumper and then the bumper/winch package onto the Jeep. Otherwise, it can be very difficult to get to the winch mounting bolts once the bumper is bolted onto the Jeep. So once you have the winch mounted onto the bumper, this package becomes even bigger, even bulkier, so it'll definitely help to have a second set of hands around. In my opinion, this bumper is priced really fairly for what you get. I think that it is inexpensive compared to a lot of other bumpers on the market that have a similar style. The build quality on this bumper is really high. The powder coat looks really nice. The finish on it is very well-done, and it has a lot of the features I look for in a bumper. It has light mount tabs. It has a winch mount. It has D-ring mounts. Aside from a spot to attach a Hi-Lift Jack to in a jacking scenario, having a little slot for the tongue of the jack, it really isn't missing anything. This has all the points that I usually like to see hit on a front bumper. So if you like this style with the tubular ends like this, I would definitely recommend taking a look at this bumper. So if you're looking to upgrade that factory plastic front bumper on your JK to one that provides a lot more function, a lot more protection, and some more style, I would definitely recommend taking a look at this bumper.
