Hey, guys, so today we're checking out the RedRock 4x4 LED Third Brake Light with the smoked lens, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers. So if you're looking for some small affordable mods that are going to switch up the aesthetic and even the function of the back end of your Wrangler, this option by RedRock 4x4 is going to be a great choice to take a look into. Now, this is going to be great for anybody who is looking to switch up the styling when it comes to their lighting. Now, this is going to have that smoked lens which will offer a very sleek and stealthy look to the third brake light which will match with really any other smoked accessories that you have on the back end of your Wrangler. It's also going to have the LEDs inside which are going to be incredibly bright even with that smoked lens there. So if you're looking for something that's a little bit more noticeable while you're driving around in the street, you're looking for something that's going to be a lot brighter than the factory third brake light, and again, this is going to be a great choice.Now, this is going to be a direct replacement to your factory third brake light, again, switching up the styling quite a bit. But it is also going to be plug-and-play, making this a very easy mod to get done on your JK. So if you're looking for something easy and you're also looking for something affordable, this is going to be right up your alley. Now, with that being said, this is going to come in at roughly $50, and in my personal opinion, for an LED light that's plug-and-play and it's going to look really good mounted up to the back end of your JK, then that's going to be a great price.Now, in comparison to some other options available on the page, some may be set up a little bit differently. Some more expensive choices may have different functions like a hyper flash where they flash a couple of times before they have a solid illumination as where this just has some standard function like the factory third brake light, but this is going to offer a lot more style. Now, there are some other options available on the page or in the category that may switch up the styling a little bit, so instead of the smoked lens here, they may have a red lens or a clear lens, so kind of comes down to your personal preference in design when it comes to that. However, again, if you're looking for something affordable, if you're looking for something sleek and easy to do on the back end of your JK that's really going to make a difference visually, then this is going to be a great choice.When it comes to install, I'm going to give this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you no longer than 20 minutes to get the job done with some very basic hand tools. So speaking of the install, let's jump into that now. The tools that I used for my install were a 1/4-inch drive ratchet, a 3-inch extension, and a T20 Torx socket.So to kick off this install, I do recommend that you take off the spare tire. That's just going to give you some more room to work with to access your third brake light here. And at this point, now that we have the spare tire off, we can open up our tailgate so we can access the bolts on the back. So on the back of our third brake light here, we're going to have two bolts down at the bottom and two at the top. I'm going to start at the bottom here taking a T20 Torx socket and a small extension just to give myself some room with the tailgate here, and a 1/4-inch drive ratchet, and we can just go ahead and remove those. Next, we can move to the two screws up at the top or the two bolts up at the top using a T20 Torx socket. Now just make sure that you have a hand on the brake light when that fourth bolt is taken out because it may fall forward. So, at this point, now that the four screws are out, we can pull forward on the third brake light, and we can disconnect this wiring harness up at the top. You just squeeze on the little connector there and pull back. Now we can put this aside and grab our new light.So before I go ahead and install our new light, I do want to stop down and show you guys some of the similarities and differences between our factory light and the new light here and show you a little comparison between the two. Now, as you can see, these are visually going to be very different and they also are going to be different in the lighting as well. Just a brief overview of our factory light. As you can see, this is going to have that classic red reflector up at the top. It's also going to have LEDs inside, just a couple of LEDs, and then down at the bottom, we're going to have the plastic textured finish that you get here giving it a very OEM-style look. Overall, this is going to be great for soft applications. However, if you're looking for something that's a little bit more stylish, give you a little bit of more performance when it comes to better lighting, this is going to get the job done when it comes to that.Now, as you can see on the bottom, we're going to have a smoother plastic material. This is not going to have that textured black OEM look. So it is going to be a little bit sleeker, but the sleekness really comes in the lens. As you can see here, this is going to have a smoked lens, giving you a very sleek-looking comparison to the red lens here. And then we're going to have multiple LEDs inside. These are going to illuminate red and there are going to be a couple more LEDs in the new one than our factory one, so this is actually going to be a lot brighter, even though it does have that smoked lens on top. So overall, a lot brighter, a lot sleeker, and it's going to be a lot more stylish than our factory one, and it is also going to be plug-and-play. It's very similar in the same installation aspect as our factory one, so why don't we go ahead and install our new light?So this new third brake light is going to go on exactly how our factory one came off. So our first step to this is just to plug it in. This is going to be a complete plug-and-play setup. So once it's plugged in and you have the tailgate open, what we can do is take our factory hardware, line up the third brake light in the carrier, and we can reinstall that. So I'm going to get it threaded with that T20 Torx. Just get a couple of hand threads in there, and then we can tighten it up with the 1/4-inch drive ratchet. Now, I would recommend not to over-tighten this. Once it's pretty much tight and not wiggling around, I would stop at that just because it is plastic. You don't want to break that. Right. So good hand tight. Then we can secure the two down at the bottom. So after the third brake light is tightened down, you can close up your tailgate, pop on your tire, and you're all set to go.So that is going to wrap it up for my review and install.
