The Axial Smoked LED Side Marker Lights are for those of you that have the 2007 to 2018 JK that either has a factory set of fenders still installed or an aftermarket set of fenders that is designed to accept a factory marker light and are looking to change up the look of your Jeep by going with a smoked version that is also going to be brighter than the factory thanks to the fact that this is LED. This is going to be a very simple one out of three wrench installation that I'm gonna show you how to do in just a second. So as I mentioned the big two reasons to get something like this are to change up the look of the Jeep and also to add a little bit of additional functionality. When this light is off it has a completely black appearance which does give the Jeep a little bit more of an aggressive look, but as you can see when it's on it's still going to be very, very bright. In fact, even brighter than the factory incandescent light thanks to the LED diodes that are inside of it. Because these are LED they also have a very crisp, clean on and off like a lot of the more modern vehicles out there. So that is another benefit to installing something like this. Now there are gonna be a couple of choices out there when you're looking for smoked marker lights. This is going to be a fairly high quality version. So they are gonna be a little bit more expensive than some of the other choices out there but if you're looking for something that is going to be truly black when it's off and still very bright when it's on I think this is going to be a very good choice and I do think it's pretty fairly priced at right around that $70 mark for a pair of lights. I said before this is an easy install, so let's jump into it. The only tool we needed for this installation was a trim removal tool. So like I said before, a very simple one out of three wrenches for the installation here. This is going to pop right out and your new light is going to plug right in its place. All we need to do in order to get that factory light out is remove a couple of clips here on the fender that hold the outer fender to the inner fender liner. That's gonna give us the space we need to get this out. Now we have an aftermarket inner fender liner here but it's going to be pretty much the same process if you have a factory inner fender liner. You're going to be removing at least one if not two of the clips right here on the edge. I'm gonna try and get by with just removing one clip but if it's fighting me too much I'll just go ahead and remove this one to give myself a little bit more space. In order to remove that clip, if you have your factory fenders installed with all the factory hardware you're going to need a nail set or a punch to push through the center of that rivet and then the rivet will pop out. Again these ones are aftermarket, a little bit different. I'm just gonna be using a trim removal tool. With the plastic clip removed we can pull the inner fender liner out of the way and we'll be able to unplug the marker light. And it's going to just be a pinch and pull like a lot of the electrical connectors that you're used to. That's done. We'll have access to the plastic clip up at the top here. We push the plastic clip down and that will release the light from the fender. Now that we have the stock marker light out of the fender you can really see the difference between that and the new Axial one. Of course the biggest difference is the fact that the Axial one is all blacked out. That's really what you're gonna be purchasing this for, is changing up the look of your Jeep. This of course is also going to be LED versus the incandescent one that you had from the factory. Those LEDs are going to be much brighter and they're also going to give you that crisp, clean on and off that you're looking for that gives your vehicle a little bit more of a modern look. Now as you can tell these are very, very similar and that's a very good thing because it means your new one is going to pop right in place of the old one. No modification necessary, no big to do, very, very easy installation. One thing I did wanna point out is on the back side here. So on the factory light here you have a little bit of a quarter turn and you can remove the socket which has the bulb in it. Your new light here, because it is LED there's no socket, there's no bulb, there's just the diodes that are on the board inside, but the wire that comes out of that does go into the same socket that your bulb went into on your factory light. So you're almost using the socket as an adapter. You're going to need to remove that and pull the bulb out of it. You're going to plug the new light into the socket. Once you have the new light plugged into the factory socket you can push that socket right into the back of the light housing here, give it a turn to lock it in place. Now you have your new light prepared for installation. That's not something you're going to be able to do very easily once the light's installed in the fender. So do that now. Now we can move onto the next step of the installation which is going to be getting your new light popped into the fender. Now that we have the new marker light plugged into the socket and the socket installed in the new marker light everything is ready to go and we can install the light into the fender flare in the reverse process of removing the factory one.So if you are looking to change up the look of your Jeep and add some additional functionality I would recommend this smoke marker light from Axial and you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.
