    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the RedRock 4x4 Full Width Front Bumper with Double Grille Guard, fitting all 2007 and up Wranglers. Today, we're gonna talk through the installation of this bumper, which is a very simple one out of three wrenches. Like most others, this aftermarket bumper will bolt right in place of your factory bumper, making the installation a very simple, no-drill bolt-on. We're also gonna talk about the construction of this bumper and a few of the other features. This bumper is for those of you who want a full-width bumper either for the look or for the protection. This bumper is going to span from corner to corner, giving both of your fenders protection, but because of the way it is cut up on either corner, it will still give you a good bit of clearance if you are running a large, 35-inch tire. So you're not going to have any clearance issues between the tire and the bumper when you're flexing off-road. This bumper also has a couple of other features built right into it that make it a really nice bumper for off-road use. This is a really, solidly-built steel bumper that's covered in a textured black powder coat finish. That textured black finish is going to match a lot of other aftermarket accessories you might bolt onto your Jeep and does a really nice job of matching the factory plastic accents you'll find on your Wrangler right out of the factory. A few of the features I really like about this bumper is the fact that it will accept your factory fog lights. You already have those lights, the wiring and switch is already there, so why not use them? And with this bumper, you'll be able to bolt them right into the back, and you'll get that factory functionality without needing to go out and purchase any additional lights. As you can see right up on top, you do have a winch mount that does come right out of the box with this bumper. However, it is a little bit of an afterthought. This winch plate and fair lead mount actually bolt right on top of the bumper. In my opinion, the bumper does look a little bit cleaner without that winch mount on there. However, if you have a winch, this is going to allow you to bolt the winch up without needing to go out and purchase any additional hardware, and it's going to be a really strong mount. You also have two D-ring mounts that bolt directly through the bumper into the frame horns, giving you plenty of strength for recovery, and this does include two D-rings. I really like D-rings for recovery, especially if you're using a snatch strap or a recovery strap that's designed to have a little bit of slack in it in the beginning and then pulled taut during the recovery. If you have a tow hook, like it comes factory on your Jeep, there's always a chance that the loop of the strap is going to come off of the hook. With a D-ring, when you tighten that down, you know that that connection is not going to come undone until you're finished with the recovery. And when you have a winch mount, you can very easily use a snatch block coming back to your bumper, allowing you to double the pulling capacity of your winch, which, again, makes this very, very useful in an off-road situation. You have your double grille guard up top, which will give your grille and your winch some protection from brush and branches when you're on those narrow trails. And right up on top of the double grille guard, are two light mount tabs, so aside from being able to run those factory fog lights, if you decide to run some auxiliary lights, you have a couple of mounts that make it really easy to bolt those up. So as I mentioned, the installation is going to be a very simple one out of three wrenches. All you'll need to do is remove your factory bumper first, which will start by removing the splash guard and the frame cover and finally removing the eight nuts that are holding that factory bumper in place. Before you remove the factory bumper, you are going to wanna remove the sockets out of your factory fog light and unclip your factory fog light wiring harness from that crash bar in order to remove the bumper without anything hanging it up. Once the bumper's completely removed, you can simply set your new bumper over the frame horns and use the included hardware to bolt it down. Now, if you are going to be using the included winch mount and mounting a winch on this bumper, I would recommend mounting the winch onto the bumper on the ground and then putting the winch and the bumper as a package onto the Jeep. Now, this is a heavy bumper, and the winch is obviously going to make it even heavier and a little bit more cumbersome to move around. However, it's a lot easier to get to your winch mounting bolts when this is on the ground than it is when the bumper's already mounted onto the Jeep. That being said, having an extra set of hands around to move this bumper, especially after you bolt a big, heavy winch onto it, is definitely a good idea. And if you don't have an extra set of hands, some tall jack stands or even an engine hoist can take its place. As far as tools to get this job done, you're not gonna need anything special, just your traditional hand tools. This bumper has a lot of features you'll be looking for in an aftermarket bumper, so even though it is a little bit pricey, in my opinion, this is worth it. It gives you full-width protection, you have the double grille guard, auxiliary light mounts, it accepts your factory fog lights, and it comes right out of the box ready to mount a winch on. So you have a lot of the features that you might be looking at. There are certainly some less expensive bumpers out there that forego a couple of those features, but there are also a lot more expensive bumpers on the market that don't have all of these features. So if this bumper has all the features you're looking, has a look that you like, and falls into your budget, I think it's a really nice option. So if you're looking for a full-width steel bumper to replace that factory plastic bumper on your JK and you want one that has a ton of features built into it, all at a fair price, I think this one from RedRock is a great place to look. So that's my review of the RedRock 4x4 Full Width Front Bumper with Double Grille Guard, fitting all 2007 and up JKs, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Ideal for Off-Road. If your weekends are spent blazing a trail through the wilderness, you may want to upgrade to a RedRock 4x4 Front Bumper. Your JK's factory bumper is fine for daily driving and playing in the mud, but it can't provide any real protection when off-road. RedRock 4x4 designed their Front Bumper specifically with the hazards of the trail in mind. This Front Bumper features an integrated double grille guard hoop, a built-in winch plate that is capable of supporting a 12,000 lb. winch and two high strength D-Ring mounts with D-Rings. Loaded with all these great features this RedRock 4x4 Full Width Front Bumper is ideal for off-road applications.

Heavy Duty Construction. RedRock 4x4 manufactures their full width Front Bumper from 5/32" mild steel plating and 2" x 0.120" tubing for superior strength and rigidity. The D-Ring mounts are welded on both the inside and the outside for extra strength. RedRock 4x4's Front Bumper is then completed in a two stage finish using epoxy pre-coating and high-grade textured black powder coating for long lasting durability.

Easy, Bolt-On Installation. RedRock 4x4 engineered their Front Bumper to be a direct bolt-on replacement for the original stock bumper reusing the factory mounting points. There is no cutting or modifications required for a clean straight forward install. Installation can be completed in about two hours with just basic hand tools and the help of a friend.

3 Year Limited Warranty. To ensure the highest quality of their materials and craftsmanship, RedRock 4x4 backs their products with a 3 Year Limited Warranty. Some exclusions may apply, please see manufacturer's warranty for details.

Application. This RedRock 4x4 Full Width Front Bumper is designed for use on all 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JK Unlimited models including the Rubicon.

I see that a lot of people have asked about a skid plate, and there’s no skid plate that matches perfectly. However, it has been stated that the barricade plate could be used if modified. Any idea what type/how much modifications are needed to make it work???

    BrandiN

    • I apologize for the trouble in this, there is not a set guide on the fabrications needed to make the skid plate work with this particular bumper.

      Mother’s Day present

I ordered this for the wife’s Jeep. Came in with a couple of blemishes, but nothing to stress over. Mounting holes for lights and frame studs lined up fine. Allows clearance for a 35” tire without a lift.

      Good but bad experience

Overall I am happy with the bumper. Ways a bit more than I thought it would but its a good steel bumper. My review is more coming from the experience. Im not sure if it left the shop like this or if it was damaged by the shipping carrier. Bumper came with a good sized dent in the stinger bar and the Shackles were missing. I was told extreme terrain wouldn't replace because it was "shipping damage", so just be careful with that. Overall I like the look it was easy to install and fit right into place and I didnt need to move the crash can.

      Perfect fit

The bumper lined up perfectly with the Jeep bumper mounts and the lines matched the Jeep perfectly. The only complaint would be that the mounting hardware was not with the bumper.

      Expectations not met

This Bumper would have gotten 10 Stars if the finish on the lip was not scraped off. I don't like the idea that I spent almost $500 dollars of my hard earned money on an imperfect item. The packaging should be reinforced and not flimsy.

      Looks Great

Product was received timely and in good condition. Product looks really nice on the Jeep "2017". Factory fog lights mounted with no issues. You will need to purchase some mounting hardware (I used stainless). Bumper is very solid and was easy to install. The only item I didn't really like was the Welded studs on the new bumper were smaller than the factory 5/16 studs. But it was a great buy I think.

      Scratches

After I installed my front bumper I noticed 3 small scratches on the bumper I didn't see them when it was in the box because it's heavy. But after 2 of my friends lifted it i was under the jeep and installed the bolts after I tighten down I stood up and saw the 2 scratches . Looks like where the winch plate was during shipping . I hope it doesn't rust now

      Love the look

I love the look of the bumper, it gives great protection, and looks amazing. Giving 4 stars because the nuts from the factory bumper you’re suppose to use we’re too big had to go to the store and get 7/16th size bolts, and had to put a small screw and nut to put the fog lights in. Instillation only took about 30 min after we figured out the right size nuts we’re and got the stock bumper off.

      Nice fit!

Great bumper, looks real aggressive. Also clears my 35's, no rubbing now when flexing. Had an issue when it was delivered, as the product had damage upon receipt. Customer service rep( Maya ) was awesome! Was quick to give me options and ultimately reordered the bumper. Had no issues THE 2nd time around and slapped it on in about an hour and a half. Extremely pleased! -RZ

Exactly what I was looking for

Got this bumper to replace the stock one, my bolts were a bit rusty and ended up needing more than a common socket wrench to pull them off. Other than that, install was a breeze. The bumper looks great with the stock fenders and adds the new and more rugged look I was going for. Only con after 3 days of having it installed are that it blocks my high beam lights and with the low beams on it creates an odd shadow. However, I am using this an excuse to buy more KC lights. Stock fog lights fit perfectly, although I haven't installed them yet as I am planning on changing them as well.

RedRock 4x4 Full Width Front Bumper

I love my new bumper! It's definitely built to take a beating and for where I live and with all the deer I deal with everyday, it was worth the purchase! The only problem I had was with the hardware... The nuts didn't match up with the studs, just a tad bit bigger than the studs so I went to the parts store and picked up lock nuts and washers and they worked out great!

      Sturdy front bumper

Great solid bumper that looks amazing. However, do NOT buy this with the Barricade Front Skid plate. After installing the Barricade front skid plate, we soon found that the RedRock bumper was not able to be installed securely. In order to make the pieces fit, the Barricade front skid plate had to be greatly modified (cut) so all pieces could fit securely. Installation took twice as long and cost way more money than anticipated. I would think extremeterrain would not sell pieces that don't fit with each other or would at least put a disclaimer showing which Barricade products did not work with specific RedRock products. Like the bumper, very disappointed with the overall experience with the install
