    Review & Installation Video

Hey guys I'm Ryan from Extreme Terrain and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 dual outlet axle-back exhaust that fits all 2007 to 2016 Jeep JKs both 2 door and 4 door. As you can see the system is offered in both black and stainless finishes. This is a great exhaust for those of you who spend most of the time on the road or on light trails without a lot of tailpipe crushing obstacles. For those of you who spend more time on the rocks, you'll want to look at our high clearance exhaust systems that tuck everything up and out of the way. When you're shopping for an axle-back exhaust for your Jeep you're really looking at three factors, one being sound of course, the second being build quality and the third being the looks. No axle-back is going to provide huge power gains to your JK. The exhaust is not the most restrictive part of the system so opening it up isn't going to give you a ton more power. Unfortunately no axle-back is going to make your V6 sound like a V8. That being said, this exhaust will give you a nice low note. You'll definitely notice more of a growl especially when you're in the higher RPM band - when you get into the throttle getting onto an onramp for instance. I'll give it about a two out of five on loudness. You'll get a little bit more sound but you'll definitely notice the lower note. When it comes to the quality of the construction, these are really solid especially for a budget system. They don't sound tinny. Got a nice heavy weight to them. The welds are consistent and look really strong. And, the finish is great in both black and in stainless. They use the same 409 stainless material as some of the most expensive systems, so they should hold up for you in the long run. If you were to have any problems in the first three years, RedRock 4x4 offers a three year warranty. Finally, visually the systems look great. You get the dual outlet exhaust that gives your Jeep a tough look and you get to choose between either the stainless with the polished tips or the black to really customize the look of your rig. The install for this system could not be any easier. You need one wrench to loosen and retighten three different bolts, and it uses all the factory hangers. On a scale of one to five this is definitely a one. You can probably get this done in less than an hour with normal hand tools. You don't even need to call a friend for an extra set of hands. If you want to see what other people are saying about this exhaust system, make sure you check out the customer submitted reviews on the website. If you're having trouble deciding between black or stainless, there are tons of customer submitted pictures. For you guys that are staying on the road or on the light trails and want that nice low exhaust note and a custom look, this is the perfect system for you. It's really well built for the budget and shares a lot of features with the more expensive systems that we offer. That's my review of the RedRock 4x4 dual outlet axle-back exhaust. For more reviews check out extremeterrain.com. In the meantime I'm Ryan. Thanks for watching.

Can you put other tips on the muffler itself other than the ones that come with it? If so will putting a larger tip on lower the tone at all?

    AaronR

I’ve ordered multiple items from Extreme and had a great experience!! Now...does this exhaust hang lower than the factory setup? Not the pipes as it appears so, but the muffler itself specifically.

    RichardC

    • This exhaust is going to hang in the same position as the factory exhaust and the muffler would also be at a similar height.

When installing should you disconnect the Jeep battery?

    HamptonT

    • No, you shouldn't need to disconnect your battery for this install since you would not be touching any electrical components.

Will it trip the check engine light?

    ElianorH

    • As this is not changing anything with the catalytic converterit would not affect the sensors. This would not cause a check engine light.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Black Tips (07-18 Wrangler JK)

Looks amazing but a little louder than I expected

This muffler is hands down an improvement in looks over stock. Sleak and streamlined. It's great looking. Install was easy, once the stock finally came off. Rust can be tough. My only surprise was house loud it was. A lot of people thought it was perfect but I personally thought it was a bit loud. I just don't want to sound like a Honda civic from '97. Overall I'm unsure if I would have got it knowing how loud it is. Mufflers tend to quiet down after a few miles.

      Bang for the buck

Installed easily, except passenger side bracket was bent and it took some time to straighten enough to fit into rubber hanger, properly. The exhaust drones on start up and when in the higher gears at lower speeds (automatic transmission). The sound is good and not overwhelming or obnoxious. Not a bad deal for the $$.

Redrock 4x4 Duel Axle back Exhaust

Very easy to install just make sure you spray pemetrant on all bolts and also rubber hangars. Used channel locks to remove mufflers rubber hangars. The one thing i didn't like was the angle of the tailpipes they point to far down. But they are welded in that way. Sounds better than stock for the price.

      RedRock dual exhaust

Looks and sounds good. Has a nice low tone at idle. The most difficult part was sliding off the rubber grommet on the passenger side. The dual exhaust went on even with no issues. Fantastic deal for the money.

A little louder than I really wanted

Overall, I am pleased. Looks good. Sounds bold. But it is slightly louder than I really wanted. Could be because I added a cold air intake at the same time.

      Great sound for the $$

Straight forward instal, nice fit and easy to balance. Has a very deep tone, very aggressive and completely changed my Wrangler. Does have a drone at highway speed, but not bad over road noise, easy to drown out with a stereo. Throaty and aggressive sound, very crisp look and easy to instal. For the money and type of system, I would absolutely buy it again.

      Easy install. Looks great

Really easy to install and it looks great. Definitely would recommend. Especially for the price. I had to deal with some rust from the old exhaust but that was an easy fix. I wont use the polished tips because they will be crushed on a trail.

      Love the sound

I really wanted to give this 5 stars but the end of one of the exhaust tubes started rusting after only a day here in Florida. Not sure how it’s rusting if it’s stainless steel. Might sand it down and spray some clear engine enamel. The rest of the body is looking good though. The sound is just what I wanted. Lots of drone on cold start but gets softer as the engine gets going. Barely noticeable performance increase.

Easy upgrade with a much better sound.

Product came on time, piping and welds looked very clean and a short type turbo muffler.Having watched the install video on ex. Terrain ,it was very simple to install in about 45mins.Sounds great, and not too loud when normal driving, evenwith Windows down. Its a good buy for any Jeep 07-2018 models.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Black Tips (07-18 Wrangler JK)

      Great Value and Sounds Sweet

I have 2017 JKU and the hardest part of the installation was the removal of the stock muffler. Once it was off it took less the 20 minutes to install. The cutout for the aligning screw that's on the exhaust pipe is a touch off other wise I'd have given fit and finish 5 stars. My Jeep now have a sweet low growl to it. Super value at just $200.

      Not like I was expecting

It’s loud and inside Jeep it gives you a headache after driving around a while , no effect on performance or gas mileage just a bunch of noise. Looks great but ruins the ride in my opinion. I think there would be a huge market for this if it’s just a light hum and not as is at moment with this item.

      Sound exceed expectation.

Fit wasn't great but the sound is nice. The both tail pipes faces downward a bit. The driver side is lower than the other, but both do face downward. We did adjusted the best we could without leakage but still tails pipes are not horizonal with the Jeep.

Great Muffler, ONCE YOU GET THE OLD ONE OFF.

Item shipped fast and securely, looks great on the vehicle. The exhaust note not as loud as expected and it is a little more "buzzy" than I thought it would be...but better than stock. I noticed more response from vehicle now that it can breath. My issue was with stock pipe. It was my bad luck that JEEP decided to go overboard on the weld. It took a grinder, metal files, and a chisel and hammer to get it broken free. There was next to no clearance on the hangers to get it free. Bottom line was most reviews say it was an hour install...mine took almost two hours. New exhaust bolted up in under 15 minutes. (Helps to put small amount of grease on hanger tips) Overall I am satisfied, but wasn't expecting it to be the chore that it turned out to be.

      Good value

The package arrived in good condition. Installation was easy though there is one issue with the design. The pipe which the muffler mates to has a alignment pin welded to it. The slot in the RedRock muffler is off by about an 1/8" which means that the muffler hangs lower on one side than the other. Once the muffler is installed on the hanger, the hanger will torque the muffler and pipe so that it look fairly level but it is still a design issue that should be addressed. Because of this, I give it 2 stars for fit and finish.

      dual pipes

not as happy as I thought it was a little harder putting the new one on the clearance from pip to pipe was almost the same had to flair out the muffler to make it fit on my pipe
