    Review & Installation Video

Hey guys I'm Ryan from Extreme Terrain and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 dual outlet axle-back exhaust that fits all 2007 to 2016 Jeep JKs both 2 door and 4 door. As you can see the system is offered in both black and stainless finishes. This is a great exhaust for those of you who spend most of the time on the road or on light trails without a lot of tailpipe crushing obstacles. For those of you who spend more time on the rocks, you'll want to look at our high clearance exhaust systems that tuck everything up and out of the way. When you're shopping for an axle-back exhaust for your Jeep you're really looking at three factors, one being sound of course, the second being build quality and the third being the looks. No axle-back is going to provide huge power gains to your JK. The exhaust is not the most restrictive part of the system so opening it up isn't going to give you a ton more power. Unfortunately no axle-back is going to make your V6 sound like a V8. That being said, this exhaust will give you a nice low note. You'll definitely notice more of a growl especially when you're in the higher RPM band - when you get into the throttle getting onto an onramp for instance. I'll give it about a two out of five on loudness. You'll get a little bit more sound but you'll definitely notice the lower note. When it comes to the quality of the construction, these are really solid especially for a budget system. They don't sound tinny. Got a nice heavy weight to them. The welds are consistent and look really strong. And, the finish is great in both black and in stainless. They use the same 409 stainless material as some of the most expensive systems, so they should hold up for you in the long run. If you were to have any problems in the first three years, RedRock 4x4 offers a three year warranty. Finally, visually the systems look great. You get the dual outlet exhaust that gives your Jeep a tough look and you get to choose between either the stainless with the polished tips or the black to really customize the look of your rig. The install for this system could not be any easier. You need one wrench to loosen and retighten three different bolts, and it uses all the factory hangers. On a scale of one to five this is definitely a one. You can probably get this done in less than an hour with normal hand tools. You don't even need to call a friend for an extra set of hands. If you want to see what other people are saying about this exhaust system, make sure you check out the customer submitted reviews on the website. If you're having trouble deciding between black or stainless, there are tons of customer submitted pictures. For you guys that are staying on the road or on the light trails and want that nice low exhaust note and a custom look, this is the perfect system for you. It's really well built for the budget and shares a lot of features with the more expensive systems that we offer. That's my review of the RedRock 4x4 dual outlet axle-back exhaust. For more reviews check out extremeterrain.com. In the meantime I'm Ryan. Thanks for watching.

We have been thinking about a new exhaust and do not want to get into major modifications. We took a closer look at our stock muffler and noticed it has small tack welds where it slips over the tailpipe. I would think a chisel or dremmel would takes those off fairly easy or or am I thinking wrong? Thanks!

    • Below is the instaructions as provided by Redrock for the installation of this exhaust, Step 1:Loosen the factory band clamp securing the muffler assembly to the mid-pipe assembly using a 15mm socket. Note: The factory clamp is tack welded to the assembly, do not attempt to remove it completely.Step 2:Lubricate the factory hangers and remove the muffler assembly from the vehicle. Note: If having trouble removing the assembly from the factory mid-pipe, spread the slip joints on the factory pipe using a flat head screwdriver or small chisel.

Can you put other tips on the muffler itself other than the ones that come with it? If so will putting a larger tip on lower the tone at all?

    • You can add a different style of tip on the exhaust, you will need a tip that can accommodate 2.5" diamter pipes. The tip would not change the tone or volume of the exhaust.

I’ve ordered multiple items from Extreme and had a great experience!! Now...does this exhaust hang lower than the factory setup? Not the pipes as it appears so, but the muffler itself specifically.

    • This exhaust is going to hang in the same position as the factory exhaust and the muffler would also be at a similar height.

When installing should you disconnect the Jeep battery?

    • No, you shouldn't need to disconnect your battery for this install since you would not be touching any electrical components.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Black Tips (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK)

Exactly what I was looking for

We upgraded the stock muffler to a Dynomax 53804, which was plenty loud enough, but resonated in the cab like crazy around 2000 rpms. After the Dyno knocked our teeth out, we upgraded to this beauty. This one has almost the same rugged grumble at idle as the Dyno and a nice bark at ignition, but it doesnt vibrate the cab, so we can actually hear each other talk, which is nice. It also has a beautiful throaty roar when you put the pedal down. I'll update this if my opinion changes, but so far I think its worth every penny.

It was more difficult to get the stock muffler off the Jeep. Had to cut the clamp off with a sawzall because the head of the clamp bolt was so rusty. Sounds awesome.

      Great purchase

Install was a little harder that I thought due to welds on the stock muffler on the 2018 JKU. Did not get the sound I wanted until I removed the resonator (done at muffler shop) andI added different muffler tips.

      RedRock Axe l-Back Exgaust

This product was easy to install, and produced the sound I was looking for, not too loud, not too quiet! However, when I installed the Red Rock cold air intake, I was in for a very pleasant surprise. Now the sound was a bit louder (still not obtrusive but throaty), the power was increased and the throttle response was significantly higher, giving me exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't be more happy with the product.

      Don’t buy

As soon as you turn the engine on, it gets so heated up that it turns yellow. Makes your gas milage worse by 2-3 mpg. The tips are too far out and make your departure angle worse. I removed them the second week.

Great sound and quality for the price

Great price and relatively easy to install. I had some trouble pulling out the passenger side support from the rubber hanger. However, it finally came off when I had my friend push the exhaust system towards the front so I could pry it off. If your Jeep is a few years old (mine is 2015) then I would recommend lubing the exhaust pipe from the main system before installing.

      New exhaust!!

The exhaust on my Jeep was missing all together so this was a must for me. I would have to say after installing and listening to it I would’ve done it regardless. For the money spent the fitment was awesome and the sound is aggressive and not annoying. Got a lot of compliments from that $180 pipe

Review from RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Black Tips (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK)

      Great Deal

If your looking to get a little deeper growl out of your JK and want to accomplish it on a budget this exhaust is a perfect fit. Installation was pretty simple and it is basically 3 clamps and done. Jeep did play a dirty trick on me by spot welding the midpipe clamp on the top (where I couldn't see from underneath) so it took me a few added minutes and some minor grinding for the install. Overall this a good quality product for a fair price.

      Great but not for me

My factory muffler was getting rusted and looked like it needed to be replaced. I wanted something that would give me a nice rumble sound but not over do it. The installation was a piece of cake except getting the old muffler off took most of my time. There is a big difference - so prepare yourself. There is a very low rumble coming from underneath and its a little over powering, even over-taking the radio. I am not sure if I can hang. Will give it some time to see if "breaking it in" does anything.
