    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, I'm Ryan from, and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 3-inch Curved Round Side Steps, fitting all 2007 to 2016 Jeep JKs. These are the textured black version but they also come in gloss black and stainless, and they're available for both two door and four door Wranglers. I recommend these steps for anyone looking for easier entry and exit from their stock or lifted JK. They put the stepping surface at the perfect height and have this non-skid stepping pad which is a really nice feature. It's important to remember that these are not armor. Armor focuses on strength and ground clearance, and if there is a step provided, it's more of an afterthought. These are expressly steps. So you actually lose some ground clearance, but the trade-off is that easier-to-use step. So, if you're staying on the road or on light trails without tall obstacles and you want an easier way to get in and out of your Jeep, these are the way to go. These steps are really well built. The 2 door version weighs in at about 28 pounds and the 4 door version at about 40. Again, these are really heavy duty. Both steps are made of 3-inch diameter .07 inch wall thickness tubular stainless steel. The stainless means you'll get plenty of years of life, especially if you follow the install instructions and keep these washed and waxed. The tube steps are mandrel bent for both style and strength, and they feature a non-slip stepping pad for both safety and a protective finish of the step. Speaking of the finish, the textured black version and the gloss black version both come with a heavy duty powder coated finish which is great for corrosion resistance. This is an easy bolt on installation. The steps attach to both the pinch seam and the underside of the tub, so you won't be able to run any factory ruby rail or any other step alongside. To get these bolted up you will need about two hours and some typical hand tools: some sockets, some wrenches, a set of Allen keys. I do recommend that you print the install instructions off of our website. They're much more comprehensive and have a lot more detail. They'll make this a lot easier for you. It's important to remember that these install on multiple years and body styles, so you might have a couple of parts left over in the box when you're finished, but that's nothing to worry about. The bottom line is just take your time and this is a really easy install. There are a lot of side steps on the market. Most of them are going to be really similar. They have some minor styling differences and finish differences, but at the end of the day they're all tube steps. While these RedRock ones are budget, they get the job done and they look great. So if your Jeep stays on the road and off the trails and you want to get in and out a little easier, this is a great step for you. Remember, these are not armor but they are a solid step that installs easily, all at a great price. That's my review of the RedRock 4x4 3-inch Curved Round Side Steps fitting all 2007 to 2016 Jeep JKs that you can find right here at

Dual Function. RedRock 4x4's 3 inch Round Side Steps will give your 2-door JK Wrangler an aggressive off-road appearance while providing a convenient step for easy entry into your lifted vehicle. Plus these Side Steps also double as side armor to provide additional protection from brush, trail hazards and door dings.

Heavy Duty Construction. Manufactured from heavy duty 3" diameter round stainless steel tubing, these RedRock 4x4 Side Steps are completed in a bright polished finish for classic good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Easy, Bolt-on Installation. The RedRock 4x4 Wrangler Side Step is engineered to be a direct bolt-on upgrade using just basic hand tools, so there is no drilling or cutting required for a clean straight forward installation.

Application. This RedRock 4x4 Wrangler 3" Round Side Step is designed to fit 2007-2018 2-door Jeep Wrangler JKs. Includes driver and passenger side.

I own a 2007 Rubicon 4 Door. I believe it has factory protection on the sides. Will these work on a Rubicon and will any modifications need to be made?

How much does the entire kit weigh, including both bars, brackets, and all hardware? (Shipping weight would also suffice as a ballpark estimate.) Looking to keep the weight down my 2017 JK as much as possible.

        • The RedRock 4x4 3 in. Curved Round Side Steps will weigh in at 42Lbs with the step bars brackets and all required hardware/components.

            Nice Steps

THese steps are very nice. It's important to understand that the directions are terrible and that each bracket is stamped with where it goes. The directions don't tell you that and I didn't see it for a while.

            Worth the money

They look pretty good for the price. Didn't line up perfectly on the '18 JK, but other than that, I like them.

            Arrived Damaged

Had these not arrived damaged they would have been great value for the money. Our Jeep has larger tires which lifts it a couple of inches and I should have taken that into account when selecting running boards.

            4 2007 Wrangler - DDwyer

Look Great on 2007 4dr JK

They look great installed. The instructions good be better, they are hard to read bandw pictures. But it’s straight forward once you figure it out. There are three support arms per side. They mount with one bolt to frame and two bolts to the body. I had all holes on the body, but The only problem I ran into is there was no hole on my frame for the rear support. Don’t know if that’s a 2007 thing or just my JK. Might want to check to see if you have a corresponding frame hole near the two body holes. I took my rails to a shop and they mounted them by drilling a hole in the frame. They look great.

            Good Value

I had some issues installing because they kept tightening on crooked but once I was able to get another pair of hands on it, installation was simple. Very sturdy and low profile.

            Great Value

Look good, seem to have a good finish that should last, solid when I stand on them. They took a little over an hour to install by myself. I would have shaved 15 minutes if I hadn't been too lazy to go get the ratch allen head socket for the mounting brackets. Got them fast and at a decent price.

Easy to install. But not holding up to well. They scratch extremely too easy. And the ends are too weak. The gloss black in not holding up very good either.
