I'm Ryan with extremeterrain.com and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 4-inch Straight Oval Side Steps, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. There is a version of these available for both the two-door and four-door body style, and they're available in the textured black you see here, and a polished stainless finish. These are for anyone who wants a little bit of help getting into or out of their lifted or stock height JK. Now, it's important to remember that these are side steps and these are not armor.Side steps will generally have a larger and easier to use lower stepping platform than armor will. However, these are not going to hold up to trail obstacles, and they're going to decrease your ground clearance a little bit. So, depending on what you use your jeep for, these may be an inexpensive and easy to use step option if you don't need armor. These side steps are built from a tubular stainless steel, which means that even if you do get a nick or a scratch in the finish, they're going to do a good job of resisting both rust and corrosion.Like I said before, these are the 4-inch straight oval version of these steps, but they're also available in different sizes and shapes. You can get these steps in both the textured black powder coat that you see here, or a polished, stainless finish. No matter what finish you choose, they both have this non-skid stepping pad, which makes it really easy to get in and out of the jeep in wet or muddy conditions. These will help to protect your jeep against door dings in a parking lot, but to reiterate, these are not going to help you if you're out on the trail and you're looking for protection. These are designed to be a really easy install, and bolt directly to the pinch seam of your jeep, without the need to drill anything. They'll include all of the brackets and the hardware necessary to get them installed. The instructions for these can be a little bit difficult to follow, because they're designed to mount on a couple of different year ranges of Jeep, and Jeep changed the pinch seam a couple of times. So just take your time, and you'll be fine with the install.Because of that same reason, you'll also have some leftover hardware when you're finished. But again, don't be alarmed, it's completely normal. The install for these side steps should take about two hours, and you won't need any specialty tools, just some sockets and some wrenches. I would however, recommend that you do have a tap and die set handy, because depending on your year of jeep, you may be threading some bolts up into the body. And if you're somebody that takes their Jeep off-road, or even just drives it a lot, you may have some dirt and grime up in that hole and it will definitely be helpful to clear it out with a tap so you don't cross-thread your bolts. These side steps are priced really fairly for what you get. They're actually less expensive than a lot of other side steps on the market that are of similar design, and in my mind, I don't see a reason to pay more. So if you're looking for an affordable side step to help you get in and out of the jeep and you don't have the need for a heavy duty, expensive armor, these are a really nice option. So that's my review of the RedRock 4x4 Straight Oval Side Steps, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
