    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, today I'm here with the Pedal Commander Bluetooth Throttle Response Controller fitting all 2007 and newer JK Wranglers. So if you've noticed a lack in throttle response, maybe you've added larger wheels and tires to your Wrangler and you're looking for a little bit of extra get up and go out of your Jeep, this option by Pedal Commander is going to be a great one to take a look into. So essentially what you're doing when you're installing a throttle controller is taking away or modifying that delay from when your foot hits the pedal to when your throttle body opens. So this option by Pedal Commander is going to have a number of different features integrated into the module. You're going to have four different main modes: Eco, City, Sport, and Sport Plus, which is either going to decrease with Eco, your throttle response, and then with City, Sport and Sport Plus, it will drastically increase that throttle response giving you a little bit of extra get up and go like I mentioned before, if you've added any weight to your Wrangler, you can really feel it when you add this device. Now, this is also going to have a number of different levels so you can really fine-tune this thing and it's going to have overall 36 different modes that you can choose from. Now not only is it going to have the tactile buttons and very easy to use interface on the front, but you also get to download an app because this is completely Bluetooth and control it from your phone, making it very user-friendly and very easy to use. So I would like to mention right off the bat that this is not going to be a tuner. So this is not going to increase your horsepower and torque numbers, this isn't going to change any parameters within your Wrangler's PCM. This is only going to take away or modify that delay from when your foot hits the pedal to when your throttle body opens, giving you some extra get up and go like I mentioned, it's not going to give you any performance. So if you are looking for some gains, if you are looking to change the parameters in your Wrangler's PCM, then I would recommend checking out some tuner options. But if you're only looking for some extra throttle response out of your Jeep, then this is going to be a great option to take a look into. So this is going to be a little bit more expensive than the average throttle response controller at roughly $300. So when you take a look at all of the throttle response controllers on the page, this is not going to be the most cost-effective choice. However, this is going to give you some of the most features in comparison to those other choices. So this is obviously going to come with Bluetooth. It's going to be very user-friendly, you do get tactile buttons and a couple of them on the front of this actual device and it is very easy to install. Now in comparison to some other options, some may only come with a dial that you turn up and down, which is good for fine-tuning but you can't really see where you're at as far as performance goes or as far as your throttle response setting goes or some even just come with a button that you have to hit a couple of times and it will light up in the different modes. This is very easy to use in comparison to those as well as the Bluetooth feature that a lot of those other choices don't come with. So I think that for the $300 you are really getting what you pay for out of this whole kit. So install is going to be very easy at a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You're not going to need any tools to install this thing and you're probably going to need 15 minutes worth of your time. So speaking of the install, let's jump into that now. So this install is going to be a little bit difficult to see just because we have to plug this throttle controller into the top wiring harness on top of our throttle pedal. Now a basic overview of what we're going to do, we have to plug this in between our throttle pedal control wiring harness. So this part is going to plug into the top of your gas pedal and then the other side is going to plug into the wiring harness that would plug into the top of your gas pedal, then we'll be able to control our throttle from this device. So what I'm going to do first is drop these wires down behind our steering wheel so they're going to clean up a little bit nicer than if we were to run it directly. So right underneath the steering wheel, you're going to have a little opening and we can just drop them down on through. I find this a little bit easier than pulling the wires up just because of gravity. So what we can do is just pull the plugs through and we'll secure the pedal controller module in just a second. So I'm just going to lay that over the steering wheel. So right at the top of your gas pedal, you're going to have this plug. What we're going to do is disconnect that then we can plug the female side on top of the gas pedal. So what we can do now is mount up our module. Now you are provided with some Velcro in the kit. I already put ours on the back of the Pedal Commander. So right above our speaker is a perfect place to mount this up. That's exactly what I'm going to do. And then you also get a couple zip ties in the kit where you can clean up some of that wiring. But that's it for the install and now we can go through all the features. So once you turn your Jeep on or even have your accessory on, what you can do is power up your Pedal Commander. Now this is Bluetooth, but you don't necessarily have to hook it up to Bluetooth, you do have tactile buttons on the front of this. Now, when you first turn it on, it's going to put you into City. So this is going to be a little bit more responsive than stock but it's not going to be anything crazy. So this is going to help you get a little bit more throttle response when you are in the City. And what you can do is increase that down at the bottom or decrease that. So you can hit the plus sign if you want a little bit more and then you can hit the minus sign to take a little bit away and it will even show you whether you are taking away by the little red light or if you're staying in the middle. So you are able to fine-tune this wherever you want it and then you can hit the button again if you want to go out of City and go into Sport. So Sport is going to add a little bit more aggressiveness to the throttle response increase. Now it is going to be a decent jump over City but if you're looking for something really aggressive for something like the track or if you're looking to do any spirited driving, you can put it into Sport Plus. Now, this is going to be a big jump and actually be your maximum throttle response. So you are going to feel a lot more out of Sport Plus mode than you will out of the standard Sport. So if you hold down the power button, it will put you in Eco. So this is actually slower than or less responsive than the factory setting for your throttle response. So if you're looking to save a little bit on gas, Eco is where you're going to want to be at. And then if you keep hitting that button, it will eventually turn the Pedal Commander off. Now what you can do is go through all of those modes and fine-tune them but you can also use your phone as a controller as well instead of using the tactile buttons. So once you download the Pedal Commander app off of the App Store and open it up, it's going to leave you with a menu over on the side. Now you can choose the mode but you have to connect your device first. So what we're going to do is connect our device. Now, I have one for the 2014 JK that we're working on and we're going to go ahead and connect it. So now it's going to prompt you to the main screen. And now that we're connected, we can go ahead and turn our device on and select what mode. So it's automatically going to throw you in City which is going to be a little bit more responsive than your stock. You can go into Sport, you can go into Sport Plus, and then you can go into Eco which it is going to prompt you to engage just because it will be heavily decreased, so we can go ahead and change it into that. And then you can go up and down within that with the plus and minus button. It may be a little bit easier to do it in the City or the Sport or Sport Plus mode rather than Eco. Once you're finished with it, you can turn it off and you're all set to go. So that's going to wrap it up for my review and install. Eliminates Drive-By-Wire Pedal Delay with Bluetooth. If you own a 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler Jk you are well aware of the annoying delay in throttle response. Now you can eliminate this irritating delay for crisp throttle response with a Pedal Commander Bluetooth Throttle Response Controller. The Bluetooth compatibility means easier access to changing settings.

Explaining the Delay and Solution. This throttle-response delay is caused by the drive-by-wire system that Jeep uses in all their modern vehicles. The drive-by-wire system monitors the position of the gas pedal to control the throttle electronically, similar to a dimmer switch. The problem with this setup is that the signal from the pedal has to first be sent the ECU, which in turn then sends the signal to the actuator motor on the throttle body. This delay is most noticeable when trying to speed up to merge with faster moving traffic or when trying to feather the throttle to navigate up a rocky trail. The Pedal Commander Bluetooth Throttle Response Controller should eliminate this hideous delay.

Four Adjustable Control Modes. Unlike other throttle control devices that are either on or off, the Pedal Commander comes with four preset control modes for Eco, City, Sport and Sport Plus driving applications. Best of all each mode has 8 different levels of sensitivity, this will allow you to personally adjust each mode to your own personal driving style and needs. Thanks to the magic of Bluetooth, you can change these settings from your smart device and not have to physically bend over to do it.

Easy Plug & Play Installation. The Pedal Commander Bluetooth Throttle Response Controller connects directly into the stock throttle position sensor found on the drive-by-wire gas pedal using an OEM style plug and play connector with no permanent modifications required. The Pedal Commander is 100% reversible making it warranty friendly.

Two-Year Product Warranty. Pedal Commander manufactures their Bluetooth Throttle Response Controller to the highest quality and standards with CE and TUV Certification. However in the event you do receive a defective or malfunctioning device, Pedal Commander will replace it free of charge within 2 years of the original purchase date.

Application. The Pedal Commander Bluetooth Throttle Response Controller is designed for use on all 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK models.

Please Note. This Throttle Response Controller is

not designed to be used on Jeep Wrangler's equipped with a Sprintex Supercharger.

Does this also adjust for tire size in the tuning?

        • The Pedal Commander Bluetooth Throttle Response Controller does not allow you to tune your Wrangler for larger size tires. Night and Day Difference

Once you contort yourself to the right angle of dangle then it’s literally plug and play. But oh what a difference it makes in pedal response. The sport mode is fun, and works like a dream. Haven’t tried the sport mode yet but I imagine it’s even better. Even on the eco mode the Jeep actually goes when you want it to. Should have installed this from day 1.

I know it doesn't increase power but response time when depressing the gas pedal wow. found easiest way to install is to remove the amp. plenty of room for bear paws then.

Throttle response the way it’s supposed to be!

This Pedal Commander is truly unbelievable! It does everything it says it’s supposed to! The different settings really make a difference! I have a 2017 Sahara, I live in NYC and I keep my settings on City 2. I find it to be perfect for city driving and fuel economy. When I get on the highway I shift it to Sport and it’s more than enough for some spirited highway driving. Installation was a little difficult because of the space and how tight everything was. If you remove the plastic panel under the steering wheel then the metal plate you will have more room to maneuver your hands to disconnect the harness/clip. The plate has two 10mm bolts that need to be removed. Have adequate lighting or you won’t be able to see anything you’re doing! It’s fairly easy just cramped space. Make sure you hear or feel your connections click and you are good to go. About a 45 minute install mostly trying to find a comfortable position to work in. Actual install is only about 5 minutes.

            Bluetooth doesn't work

Easy to install, but it won't connect via bluetooth. chatted with the manufacturer and they stated the motherboard must have been coded wrong so they wanted me to send it back to them and they'd replace with another. Stated it would take 2-3 weeks. Little pricey, but can feel the changes in response times. Probably should have went with the Superchips version.

Wow! I also debated getting this for several years. I should have installed this the day I left the lot! It’s very tough to reach the connection as others have mentioned, but once you finally here that magical click of a solid connection and that first dive you will be all smiles for sure!!! I also find SPORT mode (PLUS 2) to be the ideal setting for my JK 2 door.

Great product if you want your jeep to feel more sporty. Install is kind of hard if you taller then 5'4" and have medium or larger hands, but worth it when installed. It does throw a code when using it with Bluetooth. So that parts worthless. But very suprised and happy overall.

            more responsive

The pedal commander was easy to install even though the plug is in an awkward spot. It definitely has more response and is nice to have when passing someone as it will pick up very quick. With that being said it will not take away delay entirely nor will it give you the classic feel of a cable throttle. I also didn't like the way it made the transmission shift sometimes and it seemed to get confused during rain and would randomly shutoff.
