Review & Install Video
I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the Oracle LED Fog Light Kit in White, fitting all 2007 and up JKs. Today we're gonna talk through the installation of this kit, which I am going to give two out of three wrenches, because you do have to do a little bit of wiring and able to get these hooked up, but we'll talk more about the installation in just a second. We're also going to talk through the construction and a few of the features of these lights.
This is for those of you that like that halo-look, and want halos on your fog lights. Whether you already have halos on your headlights or you just want to use these as a standalone light, this is going to be a very easy-to-install option. Usually, when you want to install a set of halos on a light, you have to open up that light housing to install the halo on the inside. These lights from Oracle are waterproof, and they have adhesive on the back of them, so all you have to do is, from the outside stick these onto the housings, making the installation a lot easier. As I said before, you are still gonna have to do a little bit of wiring, but actually getting these installed onto the light is way simpler than having to bake open the housing and attach the light to the inside.
Now, these are gonna be a little bit more expensive than some of the other halos that you can purchase, because of the additional convenience of getting these installed, as well as the quality that you're getting from Oracle. These are a very bright light. They're a very well-built light. These are gonna last a good, long time, so, again, these are gonna cost a little bit more than some of the others out there.
Like I said, these are a very well built halo kit. This is a six-layer PCB, covered with your LEDs. These do come with the drivers needed to power them, so they're getting exactly what they need to be nice and bright, and also last a good, long time. The drivers are going to be plug and play with the lights themselves, but on the other end of the driver, you do just have a two-wire pigtail, and that's where the wiring comes in to get these hooked up.
Getting these installed is a two out of three wrench installation, because you do have to do a little bit of wiring, but as I said before, actually getting the lights installed is very, very simple. There are a couple of different ways to do this. The easiest way, but also the way that probably takes the most time, is removing your front bumper completely, and then removing your fog light housings from your bumper. If you choose not to do that, all you'll have to do is loosen up those fog light housings just enough to get your wiring between the housing and the bumper itself. Once the wiring is tucked, you can peel the adhesive backing off of the light itself, and press it into place on the outside of your light housing, and you're finished as far as getting the light installed. After that, it's a simple matter of mounting your driver, plugging the driver into the light, and then picking up power for the drivers themselves. You can pick up your 12-volt power source from your running lights, from your headlights, from your fog lights, or from an independent switch. However, you wanna get these wired up.
This halo kit comes in at right around $130, and, as I said before, it is going to be a little bit more expensive than some of the others out there. Now, Oracle is known for making a very high quality piece, so you know you're not going to end up with individual LEDs burn out in a couple of weeks. So part of the premium that you're paying is because you're getting a premium piece. The other part is that you're paying for the convenience. The fact that this halo does come with the adhesive backing, is waterproof, and that you can just stick it right on the outside of your housing, instead of having to open up the housing, is another reason that these are gonna cost a little bit more than some of the other options. So
