I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the N-Fab wheel to wheel Nerf step fitting your four-door 2007 and up JK. These are available in the textured black finish that you see here and a gloss black finish for a couple of dollars more. So you have the option to make sure you get a step that looks good with your build. Today we're gonna talk through the installation of these steps which is going to be a very simple one out of three wrench install. These will bolt directly onto your JK without the need to drill or modify anything, and you'll be able to get both of these steps installed in less than two hours. But we'll talk more about the installation in just a second. We're also gonna talk through the construction and a few of the features of these steps. These Nerf Steps are going to be for those of you who want to make it easier for you and your passenger to get in and out of your JK but also want to help hide the pinch seam of your Jeep a little bit. The area below the doors, below the rockers, just look a little bit unfinished from the factory. It has some holes drilled in it, some welds on it. And having a piece to cover that up does give your Jeep a little bit more of a finished look. However, if a step is all the way up there to cover up the pinch seam, it's not a very useful step. So this bar has more of a drop step design. This upper bar will do a nice job of covering the pinch seam. The lower bar gives you a much more useful step. So you do have the best of both worlds. Now, even though you are covering up that pinch seam, this is not going to be protection. This will protect you against some door dings, maybe a shopping cart rolling around in a parking lot. But this is not going to protect you if you're off road. Even if it were to protect you, you have these steps hanging down you're just gonna get hung up on. Bottom line is, this is for those of you who are staying on the road or just doing some very light fire trail style wheeling. Not those of you who are going to be hitting the trails that might have stumps and rocks. And certainly not those of you who are doing any sort of rock crawling. These are not going to hold up to that type of abuse and they're really just gonna get in the way.If you need the protection for some more hardcore wheeling and you want a step, there are some options that will offer both of those functions. But, generally, they're going to be more expensive because they are going to be built a little bit sturdier than these are. These are going to be appropriately priced for what they are, which is a useful step that will also change your Jeep aesthetically and overall going to be a pretty good option if you're looking for a step. These are the N-Fab wheel to wheel Nerf steps, and what that wheel to wheel part means is that this upper bar here gives you complete coverage from the inside of the front tire to the inside of the rear, giving you that complete finish look and covering the pinch seam all the way across the top. This bar here is three-inch tubing. It is .084-inch wall thickness, which is a little bit lighter than we see sometimes. But these are still rated at 465 pounds per step. So you're not going to have a problem with these. They're still going to be plenty sturdy for getting in and out of the Jeep on them. Of course, they do have these welded drop step, making it even easier to get in and out. These are dimpled. So even if you have a little bit of mud, snow, or just wet, you're still gonna get a nice solid step. Gives you that non-slip surface, which is really nice on there. Again, these are available with this textured black finsih which is sort of the standard finish. The gloss black finish is also available, but it is a little bit more expensive. But if that's what you're looking for on your Jeep, it's certainly a nice option to have. These are going to attach to your Jeep very much like a rock slider would. They're going to attach to both the pinch seam that has pre-drilled holes in it and the bottom side of the tub. Regardless of what year you have, this is going to come with the proper hardware to get these installed properly. Now one thing I wanted to point out which isn't necessarily a bad thing, is that this tube over here, where there's a bend and then a baloney cut, this tube is open. This tube at the end here has a plastic cap on it. But this one, because it is baloney cut, it has a bit of an odd shape to it. It's not round. It does not have a cap. So that is left open. Some of the other steps on the market will make that a straight cut so that they can be sealed on both sides, whether it be with a plastic cap or actually welded solid with a cap on the end. On these, this is left a little bit open. As I said before, the install for these is going to be a very simple one out of three wrench installation that you can get done in under two hours. The first step is, of course, removing whatever you currently have along the rocker panel of your Jeep. Whether you're running a factory rubicon rail, a factory step, or any aftermarket steps, you are going to have to completely remove all of that stuff to get these bolted up because of how these mount. Then it's simply a matter of holding these up to the side of your Jeep. Follow the instructions, using the included hardware to get them bolted to first the pinch seam. And of course, leave that hardware a little bit loose. And then the bottom of the tub, leaving that hardware loose as well. Finally, you can get everything leveled up and get everything tightened down. Again, no drilling, no cutting. These will bolt directly up, making them a very easy install that anybody can do in their driveway. These steps are priced in the mid 300s, depending on the finish that you decide to get. And overall, I don't think that's a bad price. They're priced appropriately for a step that does not offer protection. If we were talking about a rock rail, a rock slider, something that's designed to take a lot of punishment, the price would be higher because it would be built with a heavier material and designed a little bit differently. But for a step, I think that these are appropriately priced and they're a well-built option. So, if you're not only looking for a step that's going to make it easier for you and your passengers to get in and out of your JK, but also something that's going to cover up that otherwise unfinished looking pinch seam, this is going to be an option that is very well built and appropriately priced. So that's my review of the N-Fab wheel to wheel Nerf step fitting all 2007 and up JKs, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

N-Fab Side Step!
These N-Fab side steps were ordered with looks in mind. They arrived in good condition with no blemishes. The install took about an hour. I took the factory rock rails off the '15 Rubicon and installed these. The only comment I have about these is the end cap near the front of the tube...is open. Not sure what that is for, but you would assume it would let things in and become a nuisance later, such as rust if it were water. Otherwise, these are a great product. The protection is minimal, you wouldn't rock crawl with them. Bang for your buck, pretty good. The fit is great and like a glove. The appearance is perfect. I love them and use them every day. It has been a few months since I've had them and they are still going strong. Just make sure to clean out the tube and don't let any water rest in there or you will get rust.Helpful (0)

These are very sturdy side steps the only issue I have with them is that the front steps are far too forward. The placement is weird. Otherwise they are very easy to install, I’m a woman with no experience in tools or installing stuff, and I was able to do it by myself.Helpful (5)

Side Step Review
Foot step placement too far forward (by 3-4 inches) to be a convenient step. One other negative ... not very sturdy for trail ready. POSITIVES .. mostly easy to install, looks great and mostly functional.Helpful (4)

These are great side steps. Got them for the wife originally. Being 5'0 she had to get a running start to get in her own jeep. But they are very strong and handle 250lbs easy.Helpful (6)
Someone already asked about keeping the factory rock rails...the answer was this: You'd want something that is only frame mounted to use with the factory rock rails......My question is do you have any frame mounted steps and which are they? Thanks
An option for you would be Rugged Ridge J14666.
Are these compatible with rock rails on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Willy's? If not, what are some other options?
No, the N-Fab Wheel to Wheel Nerf Step are not compatible with factory rock rails. You'd want something that is only frame mounted to use with the factory rock rails. If you remove the factory rock rails you can install the N-Fab Wheel to Wheel Nerf Step.
How much lower is the step from the main tube?
The steps on the N-Fab Wheel to Wheel Nerf Step will sit 4" below the main tube.
any drilling into the body or frame required for installation?
The N-Fab Wheel to Wheel Nerf Step will not require any drilling for installation, and will be a direct bolt on.
Do these come in a pair or buy separate?
Hello! The N-Fab Wheel to Wheel Nerf Step come in pairs.
Hello, these would not work with the Rubicon factory rock rails.
No, unfortunately we do not offer these step bars individually. I would recommend reaching out to N-Fab.
Hello, The product in the photo is correct, although it can been seen to have a shine under certain lighting this would indeed be a matte finish.
