Is this bolted straight onto the panels without any protective layer in-between? That'll do wonders for the paintwork and cause rust once vibration and dust have ground down to the bare metal.

        • This will not include any form of gasket/insulator.

I recently purchased the mirror relocation kit and moved my mirrors off the doors to the door frame just in-front of where they were. Will this jerry can mount work on my jeep now? Or will the mirrors be in the way?

        • The MORryde Side Mount Tray will interfere with most body mounted mirror relocation brackets.

Will the height of a jerry can cause the side mirror to hit when opened all the way? The plastic gas can in the picture looks shorter than a metal JerryCan. Thank you.

        • The mirror should not contact the Jerry can as long as the door limit straps are still installed.

Would this work with a Gobi Stealth rack installed? I believe it would share a bolt with the rack near the front windshield)? If yes, would I have to get a slightly longer bolt?

        • You can see that there are customer pictures of this item used with Roof Racks. I would recommend getting a longer bolt to do that.

Hi I mounted door hinge steps for roof rack will side mount tray hit hinge steps when opened

        • We have not tested these 2 together, due to the setup there is a high chance they would hit each other when used together.

            Solid

Very solid construction and it installed in a very short amount of time. I didn't want to add weight to the tailgate nor obstruct my rear view anymore than I already have. Everywhere I go I get asked about it. Apparently very few people have seen the side mount before.

            MORryde Jerry Can Mount

Very easy to install and looked great. I used with my 5 gal. Jerry can and it fit perfect. It came with rubber bumpers that when installed fit against the can tightly and keep it from rattling. Included ratchet strap was a nice extra but I'm going to fab up a locking solution in the future. I think it's a great way to carry extra fuel or water in a seldom used space on the Jeep.

            No complaints

Fit was great 5 gallon metal can fit great. Could design a better hold down system but not a show stoper. Before you start to install buy new hardware. I read reviews that they sieze up so i lubed the threads and they still stuck going on before it was tight.

            Poor hardware

They need to fix their poor quality bolt issue, 3 nuts froze before they were tight during the assembly process. Same as another reviewer had to stop and go buy 4 bolts and nuts before completing the assembly.

Easy to install and works fine

I love how simple it is, it fits in through a couple screws and that's it, no maki mlm g extra holes just slide it on the side of your jeep and it's done, it even holds my Jerry can just fine and I love it.

Works well, with a few exceptions...

The install on this was straightforward, and it went in well. Two notes: The instructions lack a few details (eg.,lower rubber bumper placement), and MoRryde's directions to include a lock work--but they fail to tell you that you must leave the lock cable permanently threaded through the u-bolt, since the ends are too big to fit through (using the exact u-bolt and the exact locking cable MoRyde recommends). Still, it works when you make that adjustment.

            Poor Quality Hardware

Mounting plates themselves are solid BUT.... It is a shame that what could be a quality product is RUINED by the absolute POOR quality of the installation hardware. I had two bolts fail during installation, seized 3/4 of the way to tightening it, one snapped when trying to remove it, the others felt like they were going to fail as well. To complete the install, I had to take the time to purchase QUALITY replacement hardware as it was clear this is where the manufacturer felt it was acceptable to cut corners. I am extremely disappointed. For the price paid for this product, there is NO justification for how cheap the hardware is. This is my first product by this manufacturer and will be my last...first impressions are lasting impressions.

Great way to carry extra liquids

This product is very well built, easy to assemble and looks good on the jeep. I will probably end up getting one for the driver side as well, so I can carry 5 gallons of water and 5 of gas. I like the fact that the kit comes with the racket strap as well.

            Great product....except.

I only gave the product 4 stars because of the inability to lock the can in without alteration. Not that anyone has stolen anything...just would like the piece of mind. Besides that the product does what is advertised well enough I bought a second one. Easy install and durable. Fits a NATO Septer plastic Jerry perfectly.

            Fits the 2017 75 Anniversary 2 door

The tray was easy to mount. Watch the video on extreme terrain. Much better than the instructions that come with the tray. The self tapping screw is your only option under the hood. I placed several felt disk on the tray to protect my olllllllo from the tray.

            Excellent solution

Was searching for a good solution for carrying extra gas on my 2009 JK Rubicon. The OEM gas tank on my 2-door JK is smaller than tanks on my friends 4-door JKs. This jerry can mount worked out fantastic. Not thrilled with the tie-down device included. I had to add extra padding to keep the supplied tie-down from banging against the gas can while bouncing along dirt roads. Additionally, the supplied tie-down does not include a lock. I had to go out and find a bike cable lock to adequately secure my gas can from easy theft.

2010 2 door passenger side mount

Install went well. Only issue I had was installing the J-nut in the fender. Otherwise, very happy with the mount. Doesn't interfere with the door, and no rattles with an empty can.

            Perfect application

The MORryde driver side mount tray was the perfect application for my JK. Having a large spare tire, hi-lift jack and shovel on the tail gate I have all the weight I dare to put on the back. The side mount was easy to install and looks like it belongs there. I liked it enough that I have just back ordered a temporarily out of stock passenger side mount as well.

            Like the side mount

I like most but not everything. I don't have completely mounted but have seen a few things. Mounting to the Jeep is ok no problem. Mounting Jerry can holder to base with 4 nuts and bolts. 2 was just fine but two it appears wrong size nut bolts or as wrenching them on acted if cross threaded so broke them off and got to good ones to replace. So 2 worked 2 did not. Slot for top part strap does not appear large enough will check further and make bigger if necessary bottom slot no probelm. Don't like Ubolt not being included as when you live rural area and 100 mile round trip to purchase one is a pain. Should have gotten when got 2 new bolts and nuts but did not know at the time now will have to make 2 trips. Even so I do like the side mount so far.

            Nice little device

It fits well, did the passenger one. Had some powdercoat imperfections on the edges and it would have been nice if the bolts were painted black as well. Overall it seems to hold everything well, have not been off road yet though. The bottom rubber bumper keeps coming out when I tilt the can out though. Installation was fairly easy with some shims. Use a 1x4 and a couple of door shims to hold the sheet metal out while you put the J hook in. After I figured that out, it takes longer getting/putting tools than installing. Like other have mentioned, it can be hard finding the right size u-bolt, this s/b something shipped with the unit. You need a 3/4" unit for the 1' spacing as they are measured for OD pipe diameters.

            Solid mount

The packaging the mount arrived it was completely trashed; then I witnessed the UPS man throw the package from across his truck so I can’t fully blame the warehouse. It was packaged well with a ton of bubble wrap. The hardware is not the best, mine didn’t come with grade 8 bolts and I was able to snap one bolt with a 1/4” ratchet and a wench. Honestly I don’t think it requires anything stronger then what it comes with but if you’re expecting the best hardware, you’ll be disappointed. Removing three bolts from the fender and slightly pulling was the only reasonable way to slip the U Nut / Spring Nut under the metal. The self tapping screw seems completely pointless, it is less than an inch away from the U Nut location and it is going into thin sheet metal. I’m not an engineer so I did it anyway, but I really don’t think it added any strength to the design. It can easily hold 50lbs of fuel. The mount fit perfectly on a plastic 20L U.S. Military Jerry Can. It comes with foam and rubber bumpers so the can won’t rattle around, I highly recommend a plastic Jerry can over the metal ones so it doesn’t move or rattle. My mount came with pre-drilled holes for a CB radio antenna and the holes for a U- Bolt to lock the can in the mount. Overall, it did the job and looks good.

            A Suggestive Alternative

This side mounted tray is very east to install, it is of the best quality and a sturdy support for your "jerrycan", however because I am forgetful, I have lost the ratchet strap, because I accidentally drove off with it hanging. I searched and searched again to no avail. I therefore suggest to anyone who orders this product, to somehow firmly affix a temporary/permanent secure strap somehow on the outside bottom anchor. It is very convenient to just let the strap hang when you remove the can, however if your like me, and you just jump and run, you will loose this strap as I have already done. I have inquired as to if I can get it replaced. OTHER than that, this is an excellent product for your Jeep JK.

            Good concept...poor design

I had several issues with this mount. First the finish was chipped in a couple places. Second three of the four bolts that attach the Jerry can mount to the base seized up and had to be cut off. I bought new bolts from Lowes that worked. This mount is pretty simple to install and seems sturdy. The biggest problem is that it doesn't come with a lock. For the price it should be lockabale(without having to go buy a U-bolt and bicycle lock). I used a Smittybilt lockable Jerry can bracket to secure it. Just had to drill a few holes in the base. I think Morryde started to make a great product and then got lazy and skipped the locking part.
