15 Minute Install
This was ridiculously easy to install, I didn't have to lift the JLUS, and I did it myself in 15 minutes or 1 cold beer... however you look at it.
I figured I would get that out of the way at the beginning, with everyone saying that it was difficult. The JL is my 6th Jeep and 4th self install of exhaust, watch the video, get your tools ready, and get to work. The only recommendation I can make on the install is spray a little wd-40 dry lube when you're sliding the pipe on and it will glide into place easily, then clamp it down. I did opt to go the route of removing the exhaust hangers with the stock exhaust and remounting those after swapping them to the new exhaust, brilliantly easy with the dry lube. The top tips of the pipes sit about an inch below the stock JLUS bumper and do not stick out at all, maybe 1/2 inch inside, allowing you to not lose much of your rear attack angle.
Let's move onto the sound and performance. I absolutely love the sound coming out it, at idle you can barely tell you have an aftermarket exhaust and when you're just rolling off you can really get a deep purr. I have the auto/8-speed tranny and there have been a few occasions in my neighborhood at 25MPH where the exhaust produces a loud drone that turns my neighbors heads. Speaking of drone, in my setup(JLUS 8-speed auto), cruising at 50-55 does create a drone that is noticeable when the sunrider soft top is all the way down and doors off. Other than that, I love the tone this things puts out. It's not gawd awful loud like my cousins 2000 chevy with flows. I think they hit the perfect pitch that allows our 3.6s to grow some cojones.
Performance, negligible. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, I'm not even gonna test that. What I have noticed is that my miles per smile has gone from 23 to a solid 20 because i'm romping the throttle now that I have this installed, I can't imagine what's gonna happen when I save enough money for a lift and wheels! :)
Hopefully I have given you some solid feedback and I really do hope if you buy this, you are able to easily install it. Maybe I ended up with a newer setup from MF with adjusted fitment. Good luck to you all!
