    Review & Install Video

We all love driving without our top on our Jeeps in the summer, but sometimes it can get too hot and too sunny, leaving you stuck with your top on. That is I'm happy to say until now. This full-screen kit by Dirty Dog is just for you if you have a four-door JK and want that open-air driving experience without being roasted. This top will protect you from the sun and its very harmful UV rays, making sunburn and a fading interior two less things to worry about when you have your top down. With that, the mesh will still keep the air flowing and keep the cabin environment cooler. Now, to mention, this will keep the glare out of your eyes from front to back, making you more comfortable when you're driving. Since this only attaches with some buckles and straps and bungee cords it's a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and I'll go more into the install in just a bit. The screen on this is very similar to other mesh tops that we offer. This is a black UV protective fabric that will keep up to 70% of sunlight and UV rays out. Even though it stops 70% of the sunlight, this mesh will still allow light and air through, still keeping a comfortable driving experience. Like I said, this attaches to the roll bar with heavy-duty nylon straps and buckles as well as a couple bungee cords, so this makes it really easy to install and uninstall, and you can easily adjust the tension and positioning whenever you'd like. Because this does not need a header assembly like other options that we offer on the site, this works in conjunction with your soft top or your hard top, so you can keep this on all the time. What I really like about this sunscreen combination is that Dirty Dog includes a rear cargo screen that wraps all the way around the rear roll bar. At this time we don't offer any other mesh tops that reach all the way back down to the tailgate to shave the whole cargo area. Most all other tops cover only half of that cargo space. This is a nice modular set up so you can take off or keep on whatever piece you would like without affecting any other screens. You can even purchase all of them separately or in different combinations instead of this one that I have here, if you're set on a particular configuration and if you wanna save a little cash. And on that note, this full kit cost right around $180 for the front seat, back seat and rear cargo cover area. Now, compared to other options, this is a little higher priced than some other mesh tops. Keep in mind this is still not the most expensive option that we offer and this comes with a rear cargo cover giving the mesh top more to offer for a relatively lesser price. Other less expensive options as you can expect will not cover the full cargo area, they are not modular and they're gonna be more of a quick and simple solution to get that sun protection. Speaking of the modular setup, like I said before, this is offered in a couple different combinations. You can get the front, back and rear in a full kit or they're available separately. The front and back are offered together as well and Dirty Dog has an option for the front and back connected like a traditional mesh top. This gives you options so you don't have to fully commit to a full kit and the screen options are great if you don't want to buy all of the pieces together at the same time. Each piece is around $70 by itself, so keep in mind that it will be about $30 more in the long run when buying them all separately. If you know Dirty Dog then you know that they make good quality products that will last for a long time. For a premium sunscreen that gives you maximum protection and a ton of options, I definitely think that this is worth the money. Like I said before this is a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter because all the install consists of are a bunch of straps. You won't need any tools or a header to get this installed and it should take you about 30 minutes to get everything all hooked up. I would start with the front portion first with the front snaps on each of the footmen loops on the windshield. Then for the front corner straps, you can wrap it around the roll bar and hook the bungee cord onto the hole in the inside of the A-pillar. Moving to the back, feed the straps between the roll bar and the sound bar down and around the roll bar securing it with the side ladder lock. The same goes for the side just wrap the straps around the roll bar and through the ladder lock. For the rear, you're going to do the same thing that you just did for the front, you're just going to do it in reverse. You feed the front straps through the sound bar and the cross bar and attach them through the ladder locks, and do the same for the sides, and then for the rear straps just wrap them around the rear cross bar and secure them down by another ladder lock. Lastly, for the back screen, you're gonna wrap the front straps around the rear cross bar just like the back straps on the rear screen, and hook the bottom two bungees into the hole in the body of the Jeep. You can tighten everything and adjust everything as needed when it's all attached. So, if you're looking for some sun protection in your Ford or JK, this sunscreen by Dirty Dog is a great option to check out. This is Meredith with XT and you can find this and everything else Wrangler right here at extremetrain.com.

can i replace the soft top without removing the front and rear sun screen? Once I have the sun screen in place I can leave it? The soft top will fit over the sun screen correct ? 2015 Wrangler JK.

i have a 2014 Wrangler 2dr. Sport and was wondering if either the front or rear sun screen needs to be removed before applying the 2pc. front hardtop or the rear hardtop or can it remain on the vehicle together? I prefer to leave the back piece on at all times for the dogs during summer and not have to remove it in cooler temps.

Review from Dirty Dog 4x4 Sun Screen - Rear Seat (07-18 Wrangler JK 4 Door)

Great sun blocker - Lots of straps

I already had the Rugged Ridge front sun screen so I bought this to cover the rear seat. It helps to keep the sun out on these very hot and sunny Texas days! It took less than 30 min to put on and was a little confusing on were the straps go. Once on it fits well and is very secure. It does have a (foil crumpling) sound when driving highway speeds. I prefer the Rugged Ridge screen over this on due to the better fit and the simpler bungee straps. If you have a 4 door just go ahead and buy a sun shade that covers front and rear. I would be much simpler. All in all it does the job at keeping the interior cooler on the hot Texas days.

      Great wind blocker

I got this mainly to block the wind in the backseat of my JKU. It definitely does the job. Blocks about 30 of the wind plus does a great job of calming the wind in the backseat down. My daughter described the backseat as a tornado prior to installing this.

Review from Dirty Dog 4x4 Front & Rear Sun Screen (07-18 Wrangler JK 4 Door)

      Great Addition to my Jeep

Did a lot of research on the top brands that offer sun shades and eventually settled in on the Dirty Dog brand. I have the cargo netting manufactured by them and I am happy with the quality.I wanted a product that was robust enough that it could be left in place year round. I live in the north east, but I keep the soft top on year round and was looking to insert my down camping blanket on top of the sun shade, in the space between it and the soft top. The intent is to use it as an insulator during the winter months. It serves that purpose as expected. I expected that I would remove the shade occasionally when I go topless but I have grown accustomed to keeping it on all the time. It filters out just enough of the suns light and heat and does not inhibit the open air feel that we love about going topless. The quality of the net is great. Double stitched and made with high quality netting and webbing.I expect it to last many years. The only issue I have is the yellow branding tag located on the center rear edge of both the front and rear pieces (I have a JKU). I have a black and grey theme and I would prefer not to have a yellow tag in the middle of it all. Although I could cut it off, I would prefer not to. I may try to color it with black permanent marker. All in all, great addition to the jeep and I would highly recommend this and any product made by Dirty Dog.

      Totally worth it

At first, I was sent the wrong sunscreen and had to get in touch with Dirty Dog. I had to contact them a few times before they would get back with me but once we figured it out everything was smooth. I love the sunscreen and I would keep it on all year except that in Arizona I would fry from the heat during the summer. Can't wait for cooler temps to hit so I can put it back on. Great product

Good look but had one problem

So to start off I absolutely love this 3 piece sun screen by Dirty Dog. I have 2 little boys so this screen was great helping them stay shaded and not having to worry about them getting sun burned. The look was great and even with this on the mesh material still made it feel like I was out in the open. However the day I attached the 3 piece kit I was standing there in admiration when suddenly the left rear elastic strap snapped and shot off into nowhere. In order to secure it I had to rig some zip tie straps to keep it down until I could get ahold of Extreme Terrain to report this problem. Then as I drove to show it off the front piece flapped and made noise the whole time. I tightened the straps and made sure it was even tighter than I had it but this problem remained a constant. Another good feature is that I could put my hardtop on without having to remove the sunscreen. Even with the few problems I would recommend this product and plan to use it on warm days

This product is great. It took me at least 3 hours to put on ONLY BECAUSE I did not remove the hard top this year. Installation would have taken 15 minutes. I got it installed though with some bruised hands to show for it, but it's TOTALLY WORTH IT. I highly recommend this product.

      Dirty Dog 2 piece

Wanted the 2 piece because all the others on the market looked like burlap covering a JKU. Mine does flap a little, and does make an annoying buzz at highway speeds. Can be fixed with a little self stick seal on the soundbar. Like the straps over the ball bungees by Spiderwebxxxxx. Comes in a variety of colors, A little pricy over what you can get if you research or like the full island top look.
