Nice top mats
I haven't had a chance to try these out yet, as I just installed them, and the tops are off due to perfect weather. This review is for the product straight out of the box, and installation.
First, it's a great looking mat. It's 1" foam, black, and has a pebble texture to it on the outside. Looks professional once installed.
Second, the install of the strips. It's simple enough to put on. My only complaint is those strips you're supposed to use to fill in the small gaps prior to application. They were strewn about all over the box, and they are cut to all different varying lengths. I know this is because each one is for a specific area, but good luck determining where they go. I didn't have enough long ones to fit both the freedom tops and the rear top, when it was all said and done. Some of my long strips were a half inch too long for even the longest gap, and had to be trimmed back after they were installed. Not a big deal really, but why not just send them all long and short, with the instruction to trim them to size? Having them sometimes 1/4" difference in length was a little ridiculous.
Third, installing the mat. It's easy. They're all lined with a very sticky adhesive sheet on the back, and it's pretty simple to peel & apply. I would recommend setting it in place with the backer on, and then using a weight to hold down one side. This keeps it aligned while you move to the other side and work that end. Oh yeah, clean your tops with isopropyl alcohol before installing to remove dirt, handprints & anything else that'll keep it from sticking.
Fourth, overall look. I like mine. I will say that some of those filler strips being short caused my thick foam mat to have an indebted area where it dipped in, which I had to fix by pulling the mat back. I hope this doesn't affect adhesion over time.
Overall, it's pretty cool. The echo chamber reverberation effect I got inside my Jeep after rhino lining the outside of my tops was driving me crazy, and I hope these mats will capture some of that noise. Oh yeah... I hope the adhesive holds up in 100+ Texas Summers. We'll see.
