Hey, what's up guys? I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain. And today I'm here with the BBK 62 millimeter throttle body for your '91 to '03 wrangler. This is gonna be for someone who's looking for a little more power and throttle response out of your four liter and it's gonna be an upgrade over the stock throttle body. And you're gonna get more out of it than just adding a spacer. For the same price as a stock throttle body, you can upgrade to this unit. And for just under $300, I honestly think this is one of the best options to go with. This is gonna be an easy bolt on that comes with brand new gaskets and hardware to install and it's made in the USA. As far as install goes, I'm gonna give this a two out of three wrenches as you can install this in under two hours with simple hand tools. That being said, let's hop into the install. First step, we're gonna remove our factory intake tube using a flathead screwdriver. There's a clamp around here. We're gonna loosen that. Next we're gonna remove the PCV hose. This most likely is just gonna wiggle right off. Next we're gonna remove these clamps, disconnecting the top section of our airbox to the bottom. Then we can remove the whole assembly. So we're just about ready to remove your throttle body except we are gonna have to disconnect a few connections. This is gonna include the return spring, the throttle linkage, and then there's three plugs on this one. So we're gonna push down on these locking tabs, unplug this. Next we're gonna remove our throttle linkage. That's just gonna pry off to the side. And then our return spring. It's gonna pry off frontward and don't lose that. Now, this is not gonna be on your stock. This is for a hand throttle. You probably won't have this on your Jeep. We're gonna go ahead and remove that as well. After everything is disconnected, you're gonna use a 10 millimeter socket to remove your four bolts. With all four bolts removed, you're ready to remove your throttle body. So we have our stock unit out. We're just about ready to install the new one. However, I just wanna take a moment to cover some of the features that you're getting with this new one. Now, the stock throttle body is 55 millimeters on the inside. This new one is gonna be 62 millimeters. Even though the stock throttle body is 55, the hole in your intake is actually 62 millimeters. So this is gonna give a smooth transition for airflow. Not only is it gonna boost airflow, but BBK claims power increases of up to 12 horsepower with this. It's machine from rustproof 356 aluminum alloy and is much stronger than the stock unit. Not only that, but it comes with double sealed bearings and O-ring throttle shafts for a longer life and smoother operation. BBK provides you with new gaskets. So we just need to switch over some of the electronics and then we can get this thing installed. So now we're ready to switch over our sensors. We're gonna begin with the IAC motor. We're gonna use the security bit that they provide in the kit to take these four screws out. So now that we have all four screws out, we're gonna go ahead and pull this piece off. Now they give us a new gasket to install on to the new one. Next we're gonna switch over the MAP sensor. You're going to use a T25 Torx. Once you have that off, you're ready to switch it over to your new throttle body. So we're gonna start by pressing that on. So now that we have our throttle body assembled with all of our electronics, we're ready to install it. We're gonna place our gasket down, throttle body, and then we're gonna use the new bolts provided. We're gonna tighten them up with a five millimeter Allen key. Then we can hook up our linkage. We'll start with our return spring. Slide that on. Hook it onto our bracket, then we can take a throttle cable, clip that on then we can plug in our connections. After you have your throttle body tightened up and everything's connected, you can put your factory air intake back on. Then we'll tighten our clamp up, reconnect our PCV, and then we can latch our airbox down. So with everything put back together and tightened up, that wraps up my review and install. High Quality, Great Value
I bought the BBK Throttle Body to eliminate an accelerator sticking issue. The throttle plate shaft had worn enough to cause this problem. Installation of the new BBK was about a 30 minute job even though I had a problem getting the screw loose on the MAP sensor (very quick and easy). The kit even came with the tamper proof bit to remove the torx head screws on the throttle position sensor and idle air control. Due to the small increment of performance gain promised, this is difficult to assess, however on start-up I had no ECM codes, the engine runs smooth and accelerates without hesitation. I highly recommend for repair of worn throttle body. If your looking for huge performance gain your going to need to spend a lot more money.Helpful (2)

Well made product. Very simple 1 beer install. Watch the video first so you will have all your tools. Harbor Freight has a good selection of torx and Allen T handles. The kit comes with a torx bit. The 4.0 seems to have a good bit more "pick up" than before. Will be installing a better air filter soon to allow the throttle body to reach its potential.Helpful (5)

What a difference!!
I'm gonna be honest here, I was pretty skeptical at first when I had read about the 4.0 body onto a 2.5 engine increasing fuel economy and horsepower. But, I'm now officially sold! This thing was super easy to install. I also bought a Hesco 1" 62mm spacer to accommodate the bigger butterfly valve on the new throttle body. Boy oh boy do I see an improvement. I really couldn't be happier with this product and will recommend this to all my 4 banger buddies out there!Helpful (2)

BBK 62mm Throttle Body

To follow up on question posted earlier. Q:Just bought a poweraid throttle body spacer, would it be pointless to add a larger throttle body since the spacer is only 60 mm? Thanks in advance. A: Throttle body spacers would be designed around the OEM throttle body, and would not work well with an aftermarket throttlebody such as the BBK 62mm Throttle Body. Why wouldn't the throttle body spacer work with the BBK 62MM? I understand the spacer was designed for the OEM throttle body. Is it due to the larger diameter of the throttle body causing the valve to scrap the spacer causing it to stick in the open position?
Due to the design of the throttle body spacer this was created with the OEM throttle body in mind and this is indeed due to the diameter of the throttle body being too large.

Hi, very interested in the your 62mm throttle body for a 2001 4.0L TJ. But I have not seen any before and after BHP or Torque comparisons taken from same vehicle on a dyno. Do you have these details please?
We do not have those details to offer, we do however have the estimate horsepower gains to offer, of course being between 7-12.
The 04-06 models require an adapter included with the kit for the IAC valve, while the 91-03 kit will not include the adapter.
This will only fit the 4.0L 91-03 Models.

This BBK 62mm Throttle Body (91-03 4.0L Wrangler YJ & TJ)- would not fit the 2004-2006 Jeep TJ's or LJ's unfortunately.

Hello, 7-12 HP were most likely the Dyno results. With the stock air box the reading would be closer to the 7 HP range, and with an after market system it should be closer to the 12 HP range.
This BBK 62mm Throttle Body is compatible with most of K&N's Intakes, and we have confirmed the fitment of the K&N 57 Series FIPK Performance Cold Air Intake.
