Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com, and this is my review of the Barricade Light Bar fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. Those of you who are younger or newer to Jeeps might think of a light bar as the LED light bars that you see all over JKs these days. However, this is the sort of old-school light bar. This is designed to hold four individual lights above the windshield. There are a couple of benefits to doing your lighting that way. You can have four different lights that are aimed in completely different directions, you can have four different theme patterns, and you can have them switched independently. So if you're looking for one of these types of light bars, this is a really nice one with a couple of features that some of the other light bars on the market don't have. This bar is built of two-inch stainless steel, and it's covered in a textured black powder coat finish. I really like the textured black powder coat because it matches a lot of other aftermarket parts, and it'll also match the factory plastic black accents on your Jeep. Now, a lot of these bars are designed to mount in the same way to the factory windshield hinges and without the need to drill, and this is no different. However, some of those other less expensive bars will only have a couple of tabs that you'll bolt through into the Jeep. This has a much larger bolting pattern that is actually a similar design to your factory hinge. So in my opinion, this looks a lot better. This also has countersunk bolt holes, and it has adhesive padding on the inside to keep this bar from chafing your factory paint. This bar also has a little bit of a wind dam right up here that will help with any whistling that could occur from wind rushing between light bar and the top of the windshield. It also gives the bar a little bit more of a finished look. As I mentioned, this is designed to hold a total of four individual lights, and you can use any lights that are designed to mount on a single light mount bracket. This also has holes drilled at every light mount, so you can more easily run wiring. It also has holes down at the bottom here, so you can not only get the wires in but out without the need to drill any of your own holes. As I mentioned, a lot of light bars of this style are designed to be completely bolt-on, and this one is no different, so the installation process is pretty simple. If you follow the instructions, they recommend that you put some tape around the windshield hinge area, because the brackets can be a little bit cumbersome to work with and you don't want to scratch your factory paint. The first step in the install is to remove the six windshield hinge bolts that are holding the hinge together. Once you have those removed, you can lay the bracket over top and reinstall the factory bolts. Leave those bolts a little loose for now. From there, you can install the crossbar and work your way around to the other side of the Jeep installing the last windshield hinge bar. Once everything is installed, you can tighten up all of the bolts, including the ones that are holding the crossbar to the individual bars on either side. After that, it's just a matter of installing your lights. Now, as I mentioned, you can use any light that's designed to mount with a single post on a single-post mount. However, you will want to make sure that those posts aren't too long. If they are, they can contact the top of your windshield and, again, scratch your paint. After you get the lights installed, there's the matter of wiring. But as far as just getting this light bar installed, it shouldn't take you more than two hours. You won't need any specialty tools to get it done, just a good set of torque screws. Now, I've said a couple times now that there are a lot of light bars like this on the market, and this one at first glance, is a little bit more expensive than some of the other ones. In my opinion, this is worth the extra price. I like the way that this one mounts onto the hinges, as opposed to just having two tabs, that it has a more contoured mount. I personally think it looks a lot better. I like that it has the wind dam up top, not only to make it look a little bit more finished, but it's also functional to help keep from whistling. The fact this one is predrilled to run all of your wiring really cleanly inside of the bar all make it worth the additional cost in my opinion. So if you're looking to add some auxiliary lighting to your Jeep and you like putting them above the windshield, a light bar like this is a little bit more of an old-school look. But like I said before, it has some benefits. And a setup like this, depending on which lights you're running, can be a lot less expensive than a 50-inch light bar that you would otherwise put in the same location. So that's my review of the Barricade Light Bar fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Let There Be Light. Now you can easily add up to four additional auxiliary off-road lights to your JK Wrangler with this great looking tubular light bar from Barricade Off-Road.

In purchasing the full package - do you receive the lights for the bar? Interested in buying. Also, what kind of lights do you receive if you do, in fact, purchase the full package and you get lights with it? Thanks -

  • The Barricade Light Bar kit is the full light bar bracket. It does not include the lights. The lights can be bought in addition to the light bar so you are able to choose whichever light type or style that fits your personal preference.

What is the largest size round light I can place on this bar. I want to mount 4 of them.

AustinA

  • The largest size round light we would recommend to use with the Barricade Light Bar is an 8" round light.

Does this product have a weight limit? I am not looking to use this as a light bar, but to carry cargo items such as kayaks and paddle boards.

Bill

  • The Barricade Light Bar is not rated to hold items of that nature and are not rated. We would stronger recommend not securing a kayak, paddle boards, etc to the bar as this can cause damage.

    Rock Solid

Looks Great ! Mounts rock solid! Whistles like a banshee!!!! I not talking about a small annoying squeak not and then. I am talking about an Abrasive, Nerve grinding, whine that will make you want to drive an ice pick in your ear drum within 10 miles. I talked to and "EXPERT" and he said........."They all do that" PFFFFT. Expert indeed! Armed with determination, a roll of black electrical tape, and an ice pick, I set out to fix the problem. I did. Love this light bar.

    Great Light Bar

I ordered this light bar because my original 52" LED light bar whistled and buffeted my soft top badly with the a-pillar mounts that came with it (it stuck up quite a bit over the top of the Jeep, catching the wind, and tree limbs). I got this one so that I could try and clamp the light bar under the top tube, down below the top of the Jeep. This tube light bar mount is pretty awesome, with quality finish and sturdy tubes. Easy to install. Just replace your factory windshield brackets. There's a small hole for wiring lights behind each welded tab along the top bar (depending on what lights you are using, you may need to drill these holes out for your wires to fit through). Fishing wires is a little tricky, but they provide two options at the bottom of the mount; 1) behind the windshield bracket mount (totally hidden wiring) and 2) inside of the vertical tubes where its welded to the mount. Another benefit to this Light Bar is the fact you can still use a cab cover when you run with the doors off (the cab cover fits snug against the windshield, so regular LED light bar mounts wont work since they mount snug all the way up the A-Pillar. This mount only attaches at the bottom of the windshield. Using clamp mounts, you have lots of attachment options for lights and accessories. Would highly recommend.

    Awesome!!!!

Package arrived earlier then expected. Everything was packed perfect, not a scratch on anything. Installation takes a little longer then what they say (they don't take into consideration installing the wiring and lights) but after installation everything looks great. I get compliments every day. Trust me you will not go wrong with this light bar. Very strong steel quality and the textured black coating looks awesome.

    Light bar

Bought for a amber light for my mail Jeep. Perfect fit, perfect finish, easy install. My only gripe is the pre drilled holes for the wires are to small, not a big deal.

    Love my new light bar

I wanted my jeep to look more old school instead of the new LED light bars so I went with this bar and the KC lights and it looks great. The only negative is the wind noise coming off it is really load, just turn up radio and it's fine!!

    Quality Light Bar, Low Price

Received the box and installed immediately. Instal took 1 hour and other than some minor trimming the install went smooth. Bar looks great. A little disappointed in the fact that there is a gap between the pipes at each joint but otherwise I highly recommend this product.

    Great light bar great price

The bolts match you just need to remove the current frame that the bolts are in on your jeep. Can't explain it that well but it fits perfect. It looks great no annoying sound like I heard about the 50 inch light bars. Buy this and save yourself a few hundred bucks if you want only 4 lights instead of 5 like me

    Good product, good price

The only negative I have to say about this light bar is that it's really easy to over-tighten the bolts that attach the brackets to the bar. My father and I cut a piece of thick-wall PVC that was the same diameter as the inside of the tube, and inserted it into the tube. That allowed us to tighten the bolts without distorting the tube.

This light bar is an excellent mod, well made and bolted up as expected. Make sure you have help rhough because it is a little cumbersome and fishing the wires through is best done as you go.

Quality part, wish the hole for the wiring was bigger, i opened it a little worked great, I used the mounting points for the lights as ground so I scuffed up the coating to bare metal, also at the mounting points where it attaches to the windshield pillar. Very easy install under 3 hours with 4 lights.

    Barricade light bar

Received it packaged extremely well, no marks or dings. Very sturdy, well made, went on very easily. Since you actually remove the factory corner plates from the Jeep, the bottom corners of the light bar take the place of the factory plates, this allows the wiring to run down through the bar and right into the cowl area completely hidden. Running wires through the tubes was the most time consuming part.
