Merideth: Hey, guys. So, today we're checking out the Barricade HD Drop Side Step Bars, fitting all 2007 to 2018 four-door JK Wranglers. So, if you're looking for an easier way to get into your Wrangler, get some better side protection for your Jeep and also achieve a more heavy-duty look, then these steps are gonna be right up your alley. This set of drop side steps will be great for any JK owner looking for better accessibility to their cab area and will be a great addition if you've lifted your JK. Now, the stepping surface here will give you a ton of real estate to easily get in and out of your Jeep. And it's gonna have raised cutouts for some better traction and of course, a little bit of sporty styling. Now, this will have a nice steel construction as well, of course, giving you that heavy-duty look. But I do like the hybrid of the tubular construction and the steel plate construction. This will also double add some side protection. So, if you do come into contact with any obstacles, if you take your Jeep out on the trail, this will do a good job at protecting the body of your Jeep. Or if you're in the parking lot, this will protect from any door dings. Now, if you do go off-road, I would keep in mind that this step does hang a little bit lower than the average side step. But what I like about this option, in particular, is that this bottom surface here of the tubed construction will be very even with the stepping surface, which will give you similar performance to a rock slider.A lot of other options for a drop step will usually have this space cut out in the middle, that can potentially get hung up on obstacles. So, I like the fact that not only is this going to drop that stepping surface down, but you still are getting some off-road capability with these steps. Now, getting into the construction, as you can see, this will have a hybrid of steel tube and steel plating, which is gonna give them some good durability. It's also going to hold high and tight to that rocker area, which I think is a very clean look, but is also going to give you really good protection to the body or side body of your Jeep. These will also have a nice black powder coat finish on top to of course match any other heavy-duty accessories, but most importantly, protect that steel underneath from any rusting. Now, this will also come with everything that you need in order to get this onto your JK, including all of the brackets and all of the hardware. Now, with all of that being said, these will come in at roughly $425, which I think is a very good price, especially for a dropdown-style step. Now, in comparing this to some other choices in the category, I do really like the fact that the bottom of the stepping surface is going to be very even giving you those rock sliding capabilities, even though it does hang down a little bit lower, which will definitely set it apart from the rest. Now, some other dropdown steps, like I said, will have that cutout, which could potentially get you hung up off-road. Now, I personally think if you're looking for a dropdown step in particular to get that better accessibility, but you're looking for something that's going to be very functional if you do take your Jeep off-road and it looks incredibly good in the meantime, then this is gonna be right up your alley. Now, when it comes to install, this will come in at a 1 out of 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter being very straightforward and taking you probably two hours to get both of these mounted up to your JK with some basic hand tools. Now, one of our installers here is going to walk you through that process step-by-step. So, that wraps it up for my review. Let's go ahead and get into the install.Man: Tools required for this install include an electric ratchet, a 3/8 ratchet, a 17-millimeter and 10-millimeter wrench, an extension, a deep and a shallow 10-millimeter socket, and a 13-millimeter and 17-millimeter socket. What's up, guys? Today, we're gonna be installing a set of side steps on our Wrangler, so let's get right to it. So, our first step's gonna be to install our brackets. So, this one's for the front. It's gonna line up with these two holes in the pinch weld, and then there's another hole up in the top here. So, for that top hole, we're gonna be using an M8 bolt with a locking washer and a flat washer. And then on the two front holes in the pinch weld, we're gonna be using two M6 bolts with four flat washers and two locking nuts. And now we can use our 13-millimeter socket and just snug down the top bolt and a 10-millimeter socket and a 10-millimeter wrench to snug these down. And we're gonna leave them a little bit loose, all three brackets until we get the side step on and we can get it in position and fully tighten everything down at the end. And then moving to our middle bracket. It's gonna be the same M8 bolt with the locking washer and flat washer, and then the M6 bolts with four flat washers and two locking washers into the pinch weld. And now we can tighten these down the same way with the 13-millimeter up top and our 10-millimeter and 10-millimeter wrench on the pinch weld. And then we'll repeat that same process for the first two on our back one.So, now we're ready to install our side step. This would be a great time to grab yourself a buddy, or if not, you can get yourself a jack stand to help line it up. And then we have 6, M10 bolts with a couple of flat washers on each side and a locking washer that's gonna go through to connect our brackets to our side step. And now we can loosely snug these down with a 17-millimeter socket and a 17-millimeter wrench. And now we can do that same thing on the middle bracket. Now we can go ahead and remove our jack stand and get our last two bolts in.So, now that we have everything loosely secured, we can go back and fully bolt everything down. So, we'll start with the brackets working our way from the back to the front, and then we can secure our side step to our bracket. This bolt back here is gonna be a little tight. So, I'm gonna get a hand ratchet in there with a 10-millimeter and 10-millimeter wrench on the other side. So, now we can go back and fully tighten down our side step. So, we're gonna be using a 17-millimeter socket and a 17-millimeter wrench to do so. So, we can just lift it into the position we like and then tighten everything down. And now with everything nice and snugged up, we can go ahead and repeat that same process on the other side. So, that'll wrap up this review and install of the Barricade HD Drop Side Step Bar for your 2007 to 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK.
