Will I still be able to install this if I have an aftermarket tire swing carrier with a 35 inch tire?

        • This will install on most aftermarket tire carriers. Fitment with 35's will depend on your wheel offset but this will work with most wheels.

Will this fit a 1983 CJ-7? If not, do you have one that will? I don’t know if the hub bolt pattern changed with the 1987 Wrangler. The vehicle I selected was just to allow me to ask the question. Thanks.

        • We have not tested this product with the CJ-7 models since we do not support this generation.

Review from MORryde Spare Tire Jerry Can Holder w/ Tall Tray (87-18 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

            AWESOME JERRY CAN HOLDER

Received the unit from E/T last week. Very impressed with the quality of the product and materials used. Replaced my stock 94 YJ bumperet with a Smittybuilt bumper and tire carrier. I had been storing my tire inside the Jeep and used the stock spare tire carrier to hold a jerry can. With the new bumper and tire carrier I still needed my spare gas so chose the MORryde tall tray jerry can holder. The install was quick and easy. I added two rear back up lights under the carrier that serve dual purpose back up and work lights. Could not be happier with the results. Would strongly recommend to anyone with a Jeep since as we all know, Jeeps like GAS!

Review from MORryde Spare Tire Jerry Can Holder w/ Tall Tray (87-18 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

Great way to Mount your Jerry Can!

I looked at many options for mounting a Jerry Can to my 1988 Wrangler YJ. I love this option because it bolts on with no modification requirements. I have noticed the door sags a little when closing due to the extra weight of a full can, but lifting up when closing the door does the trick. To eliminate the issue, I only keep a couple gallons of fuel in the Jerry Can unless I specifically need more for a longer, remote trip.

Review from MORryde Spare Tire Jerry Can Holder w/ Tall Tray (87-18 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

            Great concept, poor quality.

Right off the bat I noticed the brackets to bolt on the tray were welded with at least 1/2" difference from right to left sides. There was no way the tray would bolt on. Then, the little cheap little stubby bolt that holds the tray bracket to the tire mount stripped at the slightest torque. After a few mods, I felt were safer and better quality I'm happy with this holder. Why I didn't return it you ask? I'm busy and dont have time to mess with returns and wait for an exchange. I did email E.T. with photos to show the poor craftsmanship, only to be told since mods were done I could no longer return it, really?? After a few emails back and forth I was given a whole whopping $10 refund!

            Novelty

This rack is a joke. The way they make the mounting bracket leaves a 1/4 inch gap. I don’t know why they did this. When you tighten the bolts you almost over tighten to close that gap. You have to have a very specific can that cost 75$ to fit. The only reason I kept it is because I mounted my reverse camera on it as well as back up lights. I should’ve just gotten a daystar or rotopax they are the same price. I would not recommend or buy again.

            Built strong but...

This carrier will secure your jerry can very effectively as long as your can is the correct dimensions. I have bought 3 steel 5L jerry cans and only one fits. I understand there are dimensions that a NATO jerry can must adhere to in order to be a tru jerry can. Adding 1" in depth and 1.5-2" in width to the tray and all cans would most likely fit.

Very nice product that allows you to carry a 5-gallon jerry-can in a holder that attaches to the spare-tire carrier. Great to have that extra 5 gallons available. Installation is dead simple.

            2018 JK Wrangler

So far it looks good and will serve the purpose. The support bracket was welded but not level. When you put the tray to it with the 4 bolts it's not level. I added 2 washers to the l/r side and 2 to the l/f side between the support bracket and the tray to level it for the Jerry can. I hope the welds hold up.

            Doesn't hold up

It cracks at the weld at the spare tire mount (where the stalk welds to the plate that slides over the spare tire studs). Has happened twice. Not worth getting it fixed again. This is just wheeling around in the Death Valley area doing high speed runs in the desert, no rock crawling where it could get knocked against a rock or anything like that. Washboard is its kryptonite I guess.

The product works great but if you don’t have a 3 Inch hole in your tire carrier you must do what I did. I cut a 3 inch hole with a metal cutting hole saw then grinded half of the metal off of half of the washer welded to back of the mount. the carrier mount washer is about 1/4 inch thick now it fits perfectly very happy with it so far

Best Jerry addition on my jeep!

Easily installed this sturdy and strong Jerry can holder- tray on jeep! Unfortunately they were out of the long tray, I was on military leave and could not wait until the long style tray was back in stock, as i needed to use it now for camping with family, etc,... so I purchased the long tray seperately and installed it onto the short tray’s kit, saving the short tray maybe for future use. It came very quickly, very, very impresed!

I think I had 15 minutes in to the who install. I only gave in 4 stars because it didn't have any bolts in the package. Nuts and washers were included. It took me longer to go get the bolts that it did to install.
