Hey, guys. So today we're checking out the Turbosmart Kompact Dual Port Blow Off Valve fitting all 2018 and newer 2.0-liter Turbo JL Wranglers. So, if you have landed on this video, you're probably trying to figure out if a blow off valve is right for you and what the purpose of a blow off valve is when it comes to a Wrangler. Now turbos are very new to the Wrangler world and blow off valves or really any engine work besides a simple intake or exhaust is not very common when it comes to the everyday Jeep owner. Now right off the bat, this blow off valve is going to be for the Jeep owner who is looking to get more turbo noise out of their engine and that iconic sound that is stereotypical for turboed vehicles.Now this also, by design, is going to be good for the sound but will keep the benefits of the factory bypass valve when it comes to recirculating pressure back into the intake. Now if you're not sure what a blow off valve, bypass valve or a diverter valve is, then you came to the right video. Now on the factory turboed Wrangler or any turboed car for that matter, they are going to have a diverter valve or a bypass valve which is essentially the same thing with a different name. Now when the turbo spools, that is going to create a lot of compressed air and there's gonna be a spike in pressure in the intake system and some of that extra air needs to go somewhere. Now what the factory diverter valve or bypass valve is going to do is recirculate all of that compressed air or the boost pressure that's created by the turbo back into the intake system.Now the factory valve is going to be pretty quiet and not give you a ton of engine noise as to where this option by Turbosmart is going to be a dual port valve setup. Now this means that it'll partially vent to the atmosphere. As you can see, there's little ports on either side and that is going to give you that iconic turbo noise but it'll also recirculate some of that air back into the intake system as well. Now having a dual port system is great considering that you get that noise of the atmospheric pressure being released on either side but you're also going to reduce some of that back pressure in the intake system by recirculating some of that air as well which will keep the system lasting longer and help the turbo spool better. Now this is also going to ensure that you don't have to build all of that boost pressure back from scratch like you would with a fully aspirated blow off valve.Now this is going to be great if you're looking to increase your horsepower and torque as well, considering that fully recirculating blow off valves or bypass valves like the factory one will have trouble recirculating all of that air pressure created from the turbo and high horsepower situations. Now it's not going to be in every situation. Usually in extreme circumstances for high horsepower vehicles that most average Jeep owners are not going to achieve. However, it's still good to keep in mind if you're looking to increase the horsepower and torque on your Wrangler.This blow off valve in particular will be a direct replacement for your factory blow off valve and will have the same bolt pattern as your factory blow off valve and it's going to be a complete plug and play setup so you don't need a tune with this. Now you can however pair a tune with this if you would like but I would keep in mind that this is not going to give you any horsepower or torque increase. This is simply just going to divert some of that air back into the system keeping some of those factory bypass valve characteristics and benefits as well as releasing some into the air giving you that iconic blow off valve sound.Now if you are a fan of that noise that you get from the turbo and you're looking for a high-quality blow off valve in order to achieve that, then this is gonna be right up your alley. Now this is made of an aircraft grade CNC billet aluminum material. This is gonna have a nice black powder coat finish on top and it's going to increase the sealant durability of the blow off valve with the specific construction here. Now being that the factory valve was made of mostly a plastic construction, this is going to be a big upgrade when it comes to the build and even the look when you have the engine cover off.Now again, like I said, this is going to be a direct bolt-on replacement, as where some other choices do require some disassembly of the factory blow off valve which can be a little bit more complicated than this choice. Now I particularly like the fact that this is very straightforward and to the point. Now when it does come to pricing, this is going to come in at roughly $275 which is pretty average when it comes to a blow off valve. Again, this is going to be a high-quality choice with a high-quality construction. Now there are other options available on the page. However, again, they may be fully recirculating, which won't give you that engine noise, or it may not be a direct replacement and you will have to utilize parts of the factory blow off valve or bypass valve in order to install them. Again, I personally like this option considering you get the benefit of recirculation, you get the sound and you also have a pretty straightforward install.Speaking of the install, I am gonna give this a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter considering that this will need a little bit of mechanical knowhow in order to switch this out. But if you do have some experience, this should only take you about an hour to get the job done in your driveway with some pretty basic hand tools. Now the install is going to consist of removing the couple of bolts on the factory blow off valve as well as disconnecting the plug. And then once that is disconnected, you wanna make sure that the O-rings on the bottom of this new blow off valve are set in place. You're gonna have two. One on the bottom and one on the top flange here. You wanna make sure that those are secure. Then you can secure the blow off valve down into place. Secure it with the three bolts included. And then you can just plug it into the factory harness and you'll be all good to go.
