Merideth: If upgrading the headlights on your 2012 to 2015 Tacoma is something on your to-do list, and you want a stealthy set to do so, these Light Bar DRL Projector Headlights with the black housing and smoked lens will be a great set to take a look into. Now, these will be great for the Tacoma owners who have noticed some extra wear and tear on their current headlights, or are just bored of the factory styling, and want to add more of a custom feel to the front end of the truck. These will also offer a great deal of help when it comes to your visibility out of the front end of your Tacoma if lighting performance is something that you need as well. Now underneath this smoked lens here, these are going to operate matte black inner housing, and a projector lens that will improve the beam pattern over the halogen bulb, offering a cleaner and more consistent beam pattern for better visibility at night. These are also going to feature a bright white daytime running light that's going to border kind of that outside of the headlight, which will catch attention on the street, and keep you safer when driving, but also is gonna add a touch of modern style to the front end of the truck. Now, this set will also include that turn signal and marker light to keep up to OE standards, and that outer amber reflector, switch it up compared to the factory. Now, these will be built well with a plastic outer housing for an OE style fit and OE durability, and a smoked polycarbonate lens on the front that's going to be able to hold up to whatever is thrown at them. These are also going to be completely sealed to make sure that no water, dirt, or dust is going to get inside the housing, potentially fogging it up or harming the bulbs inside. And I also like the fact that this is going to keep that little rubber strip up at the top to seal to the hood, and this is going to come with all the lighting included in the kit, so you don't have to worry about swapping over bulbs, or outsourcing for additional bulbs. Everything is included here, and it's going to be plug-and-play. Now, these will be relatively affordable. For a set of fully inclusive headlights on the page at around $450. Now what I think stands out most about these here is the blackout styling with that modern touch. And these also add small details that'll really set the truck apart while also including features that you would want, like a plug-and-play setup, an integrated light bar, and the upgraded inner lens, making it a great pick without completely breaking the bank. Now install here will be a lighter two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking about an hour to get the job done with some pretty basic hand tools. However, that is going to wrap it up for me. At this point, we can head over to the shop and check out a detailed breakdown of the install step by step right now.Man: Tools required for this install include an impact gun, an electric ratchet, a hand ratchet, a clip remover tool, a flathead screwdriver, a panel remover tool, a shallow and deep 10-millimeter socket, and some microfiber towels. What's up, guys? Today, we're installing a set of headlights on our Tacoma. First, we're gonna watch a quick video on how to uninstall our factory headlights, and then I'll meet you right back here for the install.Woman: All right, so the first step in our install, we're gonna remove several pop clips on each side of the grille to remove the grille itself. With a pop clip removal tool, or a trim panel removal tool, go ahead and remove the pop clip. Remove the pop clip on the other side as well. At this point, you can remove two 10-millimeter bolts holding on the top of your grille. At this point, we can remove our grille, pull up on the plastic brackets on top, and then grab your grille and pull straight forward to release all the clips. All righty. So, at this point, we're gonna remove the trim piece beneath the headlight. In order to do this, we're gonna grab a trim panel removal tool. And if you're worried about scratching your paint, you can throw a bit of painter's tape on the end here.To release the tab, go on the top here, you're gonna look for a green pop clip, and if you press on the back of the pop clip, it'll release the tab. To release the back of this trim piece, put your pop clip in the end, and twist forward because the clip goes in this direction. At this point, you can remove the two 10-millimeter bolts holding on the top of your headlight. All right, so there is one more bolt that we do have to remove, which is a bit hard to get to. It's right about here on the bottom of your headlight. And the way we're going to access this is remove two bolts underneath the wheel well liner, and one screw in the side of it. With a 10-millimeter socket, remove the two bolts underneath your bumper. At this point, we're also gonna remove a pop clip with a stubby flathead screwdriver.Twist it to remove. With that clip removed, peel back your wheel well liner, and now you should be able to access the bolt by going in through here to the back of the headlight. All right, now with the wheel well liner back, you can see this bolt. You might have a little trouble seeing it on camera here, but you can feel the one that you have to remove. We're gonna grab a 10-millimeter socket and a ratchet, and we're gonna go ahead and get it out. With all the bolts removed, we're now gonna release this tab here. You can do this by hand, or if you like, you can do it with a flathead screwdriver, and you're just gonna pry forward.Release the two tabs at the top as well. Again, you can just lift up, or if you have a flathead, just pry it off. Now, that the headlight is released and loose on your truck, we're gonna disconnect each of the connectors at this point. Go ahead and pull each of them off. There should be three, one main and then two marker lights. And then we're going a little bit farther forward up here. Now that everything is released and your headlight's disconnected, it's a matter of wiggling the headlight and maneuvering it in just the right way for it to come out.Man: So, now we're ready to install our new set of headlights. So, first, we're gonna make our electrical connections. We're gonna do our side marker and our headlight first because the harness for our turn signal is a little bit shorter, and we need to be able to maneuver this into place. Now, it's important to note before we get the headlight installed that we do have a hole right here that we're gonna have a bolt coming through this way, and into the U-clip on the bottom corner of our headlight. This is gonna be pretty much impossible to see once we have a headlight filling that space. So, we'll access that by going through the fender liner, and we're gonna have to do it by feel, get our bolt started. And then we'll use a quarter-inch drive ratchet with a shallow 10-millimeter socket so that we have enough space to tighten down our bolt. So, now we can come back and plug in our turn signal connector, and then we can reinstall our two 10-millimeter bolts at the top of our headlight. And then we'll grab a 10-millimeter socket to tighten these down. Next, we can reinstall our lower headlight trim piece, and we have a little tab here that this is gonna slide into. And then we can push our clip into place. And now we can reinstall that vault that we called out earlier in the lower corner of our headlight. Once again, you're gonna have to do this by feel to get the bolt started. And then once we have that threaded into place, I'm gonna grab our ratchet to tighten that down. Next, we can come down to our wheel well, and reinstall the bolt that holds our fender liner in place. And then once again, we'll grab our 10-millimeter socket to tighten that down. Next, we can reinstall our two 10-millimeter bolts at the bottom corner of our bumper. And then we'll grab that 10-millimeter socket to tighten these down. And now once we have everything buttoned up on this side, we can repeat that same process on the other side. So, now the last thing we need to do is slide our grille back into place, and reinstall our hardware up top. So, now we can come back to the top, reinstall our two push clips and our two bolts. And then we can take our 10-millimeter socket to tighten our two bolts down. So, that'll wrap up this review and install of the Light Bar DRL Projector Headlights with black housing and smoked lens for your 2012 to 2015 Tacoma. Thank you for watching, and for all things Tacoma, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
