Noah: Hey, everybody. It's Noah with ExtremeTerrain. This is a closer look at the four-inch Drop Sniper Running Boards in textured black for the 2020 and newer Jeep Gladiator JT. If your Gladiator is in need of a set of really low reach double steps to make getting in and out of the front and the back seats easier, then this set of four-inch Drop Sniper Running Boards is a great addition to make to your build. These running boards aren't your average set. These actually have a four-inch drop. That's perfect for you people who need a step to be a lot lower and that can look a little different for everybody. Whether it's because you've got little kiddos, you need a little boost into the back seat, or you're lifted so high that you yourself need a step to get into the door, these Sniper Running Boards will work very well for you. They're actually designed to hold a lot of weight as well, and there was a lot of consideration put into the overall build of these steps. Now, according to the site, these were engineered to be safe when unloading heavy boxes or something like that, and they won't bend or bow under some serious stress.Next, let's talk about the construction aspect of these running boards. Now, obviously, if they're designed to hold some weight, they're going to be made from metal, and these are a large and hefty option in the grand scheme of running boards, which is a good thing in this case. Then all of that metal is coated in a textured black powder coat. Now, that coating has a dual purpose. It's going to keep the steps from corroding and getting easily beat up and create an anti-slip surface for your shoe when it's wet. Smooth plastic steps can be really slippery when they're wet, so having a textured finish is a huge perk. The four-inch drop design is engineered to take strain off the user's knees when getting in and out of the Gladiator as well. And then lastly, these guys are mounted using factory mounting locations, and they drop in with no drilling or modification required. These running boards come in around $300 for the pair. Now, that price is right around middle ground for dual side steps, but I will say that this has a really dramatic drop compared to a lot of other options out there. So if you're looking for a low drop, these are a great choice at this price point. You're only in for an install difficulty of one out of three wrenches and an hour for the install time. This is a nice and easy job that can be done in the driveway, with no issues or special tools and skills. Now, plus, we're going to show you how to do it. So next up, here's an XT customer that's going to walk you through the install process on their own vehicle.Man: All right. I've spent a little bit of time getting everything separated, looked there in the instructions. Looks like I am going to need a 10-millimeter, 13-millimeter, and 16-millimeter. So I've got that here. I've got some wrenches and some sockets just in case. I've got everything separated out. I'll tell you what, one thing I really like, in addition to just packaged very well, was all the steel stamping on all the brackets. Passenger front PF, DC driver center. That's going to make installation a whole lot easier. It says we need to locate the threaded insert between the first two holes on the pinch weld. Really easy to find. Venus is a new Jeep too. Should make things very nice. Shouldn't be all crudded up and rusted and everything else. I'm going to get these stuff installed and get them moving. Just start it up by hand. It says, "Do not tighten everything yet," so we're not going to tighten anything. Everything is just going to be finger tight. Get it where it needs to go. All right. All right. Screw. Washer. And then a lock nut.Now we're going to connect the two brackets together. I'm following everything by the instructions. These snugged up a little bit. Just take some play out of them. Remember, we want to leave these loose. They're kind of oblong, so we can adjust them how we need to and get a perfect fit of our running boards. I don't want them tight. I just want to snug everything up a little bit and just take some of that play out. It says we only need 16-millimeter stuff but it looks like we're going to need a 17 for that nut.So, as you saw there on the front mounting location, we ran into our first problem. Not a huge issue but it is something to note. Said we wanted the 16 millimeters for the larger bolt nut. The bolt itself was 16-millimeter but the nut ended up being a 17-millimeter. So something to watch out for. I just checked. All the other ones are 17 as well. Whether or not they changed something, I don't know. But just in case, you might want to have a 17-millimeter socket or wrench around you just in case. We're going to move on to the center and the rear. Center and the rear are going to be the same thing. Same hardware, just different bracketry. Each one's shaped a little bit different. Had some notches cut out. We're going to locate the two holes in the pinch weld. We're going to locate the threaded insert in between the two holes and do the same thing. Then we'll be getting the running board on and get adjusted. All right. Now put the steps on the brackets and get everything all leveled out and adjusted. We'll be using the six combo bolts again. Now, there are torque specs in the instructions. I can always come back here later. Just get everything snug. Come back, re-torque everything, make sure everything's properly torqued. All right. Now we get positioned and leveled. You can see just snugging that middle one keeps me up and tight so I can get to everything else. All right. Now, we just get all the other ones.Noah: Those were the four-inch Drop Sniper Running Boards in textured black for the 2020 and newer Jeep Gladiator JT.
