This T-REX Sport Series Formed Mesh Grille with Hood Lock Cut Out is for those of you that have a 2007 and up JK and are looking for a mesh grille insert to change up the look of your Jeep and also to protect your radiator a little bit. Now, in general, these mesh inserts are going to do both of those things. You're going to have an aesthetic impact on your Jeep and they are going to offer some protection. But if you have a hood lock for a little bit more security, you're not going to be able to easily access that through your more traditional mesh grilles. So this one here has the cut out for access to either a Bolt hood lock or a Mopar hood lock so it's going to give you that security, it's going to give you the protection, it's gonna give you the look. It really does integrate a lot of things all together. Now, T-REX is one of those companies that's known for making a very high-quality product. You are going to get a premium grille insert from this company, but you also are going to have to pay a premium price along with that. Now, while this does feel a lot more substantial when you take it out of the box than some of the less-expensive mesh grille inserts on the market, you are going to have to be willing to pay that additional price for that additional quality. As far as construction goes, as I mentioned, this is going to be a very well-built piece. The upper section here that is one solid piece of steel is very, very , very strong, especially for something that really isn't structural, isn't holding any weight, isn't going to take a beating. If anything, this is going to be overbuilt, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. The mesh itself is, of course, made out of round woven steel material and even that is going to be of a higher gauge, a thicker material than a lot of the less expensive mesh grille inserts on the market. Again, what really sets us apart from the other ones aside from the high quality is this cut out in the center here and that is going to give you access to two different brands of hood locks, again, Bolt and Mopar. If you have one of the other brands of hood locks, this may work, it may not. It's definitely going to work for Bolt and Mopar though. I'm gonna stick with a one out of three wrenches on this installation. Even though there is some drilling to do, as I mentioned, it's not going to be something that if you would ever remove this mesh grille insert, that you would ever see. Those holes are going to be completely hidden. And if you take your time, if you're careful, this still is going to be a very easy install even though there is that bit of drilling. I would say this is going to take you about an hour to get it installed. By the time you remove the grille off the Jeep, drill your holes, get this mounted up, and get the grille back on the Jeep, but that does account for measuring twice, three times before marking and drilling those holes to make sure everything is in the right spot. So the first step in the instillation is going to be removing that grille off of the Jeep. There are some plastic pushpins across the top of the grille that you have to remove, and you can remove those with a pair of needle-nose pliers or a plastic trim tool. Once those are removed, just give the bottom of the grille a pull to completely remove it. Make sure that you've removed your turn signal wires first. You'll have to give your turn signal plugs a quarter turn to remove them from the housing in order to get the grille completely removed from the Jeep. Now, set it on a blanket, something soft, something that's not going to scratch it. You wanna set the face down so your grille inserts face down on top of it, and that's where you're going to be able to mark all of your holes. Drill and use the included hardware and J-clips to get this attached to the inside of your factory grille. Once that's done it's just a matter of clipping the factory grille back into the old location. Put all of those plastic pushpins back in, reinstall your turn signals into the housing, and you're going to be finished. Again, a fairly easy install, there is a little bit of drilling to do, but they are going to be hidden holes. So I think this is something that a lot of you can do in your driveway. This mesh grille insert is gonna come in at $275. And as I've said a couple of times now, that is going to be more than a lot of the other ones on the market. It does have the hood lock access which you are going to be paying for, but you're also paying for the incredibly high quality of this mesh grille insert. So if you're looking for a very high-quality mesh grille insert with hood lock access, I definitely recommend looking at this one from T-REX. And you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.
