I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the Smittybilt Sure Step three-inch side bars fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. There's a version of these side bars available for both the two-door and the four-door Wrangler, and they're available in a couple of different finishes from the textured black that you see here to a gloss black or even a polished finish. It can be a little bit difficult to get into or out of your lifted or even stock height Wrangler, and a set of side steps will definitely make that easier. There are a lot of different options when you're looking at side steps from different diameters of tubing to round versus oval or straight versus curved. Aside from those minor design differences, a lot of them are gonna mount the same way and are gonna be similarly priced. These are a nice, inexpensive side step that will get the job done, and they look pretty good. Now, one thing that's important to remember is that these are definitely not armor. Any side step is going to hang a lot lower than armor and be a much more usable step. If you have armor, sometimes they have the built-in step but the step is higher up and usually a little bit more difficult to use. If you're somebody who goes off road and will encounter any off road obstacles like stumps or rocks, these are gonna hang lower and they're not gonna take the abuse of being banged around on the trail. These particular steps are built from three-inch round stainless steel, and they have a little bit of a curve on the end, so they would be considered curved side steps. The stainless means that these are going to hold up really well over time and you're not gonna have to worry about rust or corrosion. As I said before, they're available in two different powder coated finishes, either gloss or textured black, or in a polished finish. These are definitely gonna help to protect your Jeep against some door dings in the parking lot, but as we talked about these are not going to stand up to trail obstacles. One of the things I like about round side steps like this is that a lot of them will have a non-skid stepping pad, and these ones are no different. What I don't like about these ones is they have the Smittybilt brand plastered all over them. These side steps are designed to be completely bolt on and they'll use all of the brackets and hardware that are included in the box. The installation process is pretty simple. First, you attach the brackets to the pinch seam and the bottom of the tub, then bolt the side steps onto those brackets. Now, because these are designed to work on any JK from 2007 to 2016 and Jeep did change the body a little bit, you may have some hardware left over when you're done with the installation. Don't worry, that's okay. If you have one of the Jeeps that has a threaded hole in the bottom of the tub that you use for this installation, it might be helpful to have a tap handy to clean out those threads. Sometimes they like to get some mud or some rust up in those thread holes that can make it a little bit difficult to thread the bolt into the hole. The whole process of the installation shouldn't take you more than two hours and you won't need any specialty tools, just some hand tools and that tap that we talked about. Now, there are a lot of side steps that are a similar design in a similar price range. As long as you're okay with the Smittybilt brand name on these, in my opinion there's nothing wrong with them. They're gonna be a great step and they're gonna work as advertised. So, if you're looking to make it a little bit easier for you and your passengers to get in and out of your JK and you don't have the need for big heavy and more expensive armor, a set of side steps is a nice way to go. These side steps are well built and inexpensive all with an easy installation. So that's my review of the Smittybilt Sure Step three-inch side bars fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.
