Ryan: The Rugged Ridge Quick Release Black Rectangular Mirrors are for those of you that have a 2007 to 2018 JK, that looking for a quick release set of mirrors they can hop on when you remove the doors from your Jeep in order to remain legal and remain safe while driving doorless. These are gonna install very, very easily onto your Jeep, definitely one out of three wrench installation, and we'll talk more about that in just a second. So when you take the doors off your Jeep, the mirrors are going to come with it unless you do something about that. So you really have three main options. One is to permanently move the factory mirror from the door onto the A-pillar of the Jeep. And that's gonna be a really nice option because every time you take the doors off, you just take the door off, set aside, hop in the Jeep and go, you don't have a step two. Same when you put the doors back on the Jeep, nothing to do with the mirrors, they're permanently moved. Only downside to that option is that the passenger side mirror can be a little bit difficult to see when it is moved on to the A-pillar. Some of the aftermarket bracket manufacturers have taken that into account, made that bracket adjustable, but this is gonna be a little bit of a draw back. Option two is gonna be a mirror that just drops into that top hinge when you have the door removed. Now what that means is you have to take the door off, pop mirror on, and then when you put your doors back on, pop the mirror off, pop the door back on. So there's an additional step there, not a huge one, but there is a step there. And those mirrors are going to need a bolt on the bottom of them to keep them from folding into due to the wind pressure when you're driving. So there's gonna be a tool involved, it's a little bit more of an involved process. Now that's not gonna be a big deal for those of you to take the doors off for long periods of time. But if you live in an area where you can have some pop-up rain showers, that might not be the best option for you. And then you have option three, which is this one. So with this option, you have a mirror bracket that's permanently mounted onto the A-pillar of the Jeep that's gonna be there all the time. But when you take the doors off, you pop these mirrors on to those brackets and you don't need any tools to do that. If you wanted to, you could leave these mirrors all the time and still have a factory mirrors and installed. I've seen people do that before, but these are quick release mirrors. They're really designed for you to loosen up this large plastic thumbscrew, remove the arm and the mirror, set that aside when you have the doors on the Jeep with the factory mirrors in place and then when you take those doors off, pop these in the place, again very easily, no tools necessary once you have these brackets installed on the Jeep. The only downside to this system, if you want to consider it that, is when you have the factory doors on the Jeep with factory mirrors these brackets are still installed on the A-pillar. So you're still going to see those. If that's something that's going to bother you, take a look at one of the other options. If you're fine with that, this is going to be a great choice. In general I think that these are pretty high quality option at a pretty fair price. So what you're gonna get in this kit is really three pieces per side, you're going to have the mirror itself, a rectangular mirror, it's going to be a plastic material, it's going to hold up pretty well. It does have a metal back, it has this bit of a bolt joint on here for ajustability. So overall, pretty high quality here. Over here is the arm, this is just going to tubular steel, it's powder coated, it's gonna do what it needs to do. And then here is the actual bracket. This is the part that stays on the Jeep all the time, so it has a nice foam backing to it, so it's going to scratch the factory paint. The thumbscrew does have this nice, large plastic piece on the end of it to make it very easy to unscrew it, again without any tools. It does have a welded nut on the bottom, again sticking with that no tool theme. This is gonna be very easy for you to pop those mirrors on and off. These mirrors are gonna come in at $70. And I think that is a pretty good deal for what you're going to get here. There're gonna be quite a few different options in the world of quick release mirrors, a lot of them are going to be similarly priced and they're going to function in similar fashions. It may just be a little bit of a different color, texture, black versus the gloss black, different shape, round versus rectangular, whatever it might be, there are some variations. So get whichever ones you think look best on your Jeep. But as far as the price you're getting for the quality that you're getting, I think this is a pretty fair deal. And now somebody from the install team will show you how you get these installed. Man: First thing we're gonna do is remove our door. Now there's two nuts on the door here that are gone on our Jeep, but you'd have to remove those first then you can open your door, release the door tether and unplug the electrical connector and we can lift the door off. Okay, so we're gonna release the electrical connector for the door harness here. We're going to push in our tab and pull down and next thing we're gonna do is release the door tether. All right, now we're ready to lift our door off. Now before you lift your door off, I highly recommend that you put your window down, it's gonna protect the window in case your door decides to fall over or tip over. So, we're just gonna lift up here. Remove the two T40 Torx bolts on the windshield bracket here. Okay, now we can install our mirror bracket. Wanna make sure that the welded nut is facing down and using the supplied T40 bolts we're going to bolt this guy up. Next, we're going to take the mirror arm and insert it into the bracket here. We're gonna take our knob, and we're going to screw this into place. Now you don't want to over tighten this knob because this is movable. You wanna be able to adjust your mirrors as you're driving, find the happy medium, and that's set. And last but not least, we're gonna to bolt our mirror to the arm here. Now keep in mind that there is a Rugged Ridge logo on the mirror. You want that facing up, obviously, and we'll put the mirror onto our arm, followed by a lock washer and a nut, and with an 11 millimeter socket, we can tighten this down. That's gonna wrap up our review and install of the Rugged Ridge Rectangular Quick Release Mirror. Be sure to check out more at extremeterrain.com.
