    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com. This is my review and installation of the Rugged Ridge neoprene seat covers fitting all 2007 to 2017 JKs. This is a set of front seat covers, but these are also available for the rear of the Jeep. These are available in the black you see here as well as a few other colors. Because Jeep did change the interior of the Wrangler in 2011, there are a couple of different year ranges. So just make sure that you're careful and you pick the correct seat covers for your Jeep to get the best possible fit. Today, we're going to talk about the construction, the installation and of course the fit of these covers. Seat covers like this can do a couple of different things. If you have an older JK and your seats are beat up and worn out, covers like this will give your whole interior a new refreshed look at a far lower cost than recovering the seats themselves. If your seats are in really good condition and you want to keep them that way, you can go ahead and throw a set of these on there to protect your existing seats. Or, regardless of the condition of your seats, if you're just looking to give your interior more of a custom look, a set of seat covers is a great way to do that. These covers in particular from Rugged Ridge fit really well and they're fairly priced. As it says right in the name, these are neoprene seat covers. There's a lot of misinformation out there about neoprene that it is a waterproof material. It is not. It is a water resistant material. However, this is a wetsuit material, not a dry suit material, so this will become wet. If you leave the top off and your Jeep gets rained on, this will absorb some water. The nice thing about the neoprene material is that it is machine washable. If you do get a stain on these, you can pull them right off, throw them in the washer and get them cleaned up. Any material will eventually fade in the sun, especially reds and blacks, so I would recommend treating these with some sort of UV protectant spray before you install them in your Jeep if you're somebody who has the top off a lot or even if you run with the top on a lot. That'll definitely help to keep these bright and keep the color in them for a good long time. The nice thing about the way these covers are designed is, again, they are body style specific so they will fit in your specific year Jeep, which means they're going to fit tight, they're going to look factory and they're going to hold up really well. Getting seat covers like this installed is a little bit difficult. The inside of the cover does like to stick to the material on your seats, so you may have to fight them a little bit. But luckily, it's something you'll only have to do once or ever so often whenever you take the covers off to wash them. These do have built in straps and buckles to, again, make sure that they fit really tightly without any creases, so they look really good. But the fact that they do fit so tightly, again, makes them a little bit difficult to install. The first thing you're going to want to do is remove your headrest and slide the back section of the seat over the back. Then, you can slide the lower section that you actually sit on. Then, put the headrest back on the seat once all the straps and buckles are pulled tight. Now, you may have a couple of wrinkles in your seat covers when you first get them out of the box, but those will work out in no time at all. The whole installation should take you probably about an hour but it depends on how much you have to fight with these things to get them on. It may take you a little bit more. You won't need any tools to get this job done, just some patience. As I said before, I think these seat covers are fairly priced. You can certainly get some that are going to be less expensive, but in my opinion the build quality isn't there. They're not going to fit as tightly or look as nice when they're installed, and they're not going to hold up as well. A seat cover definitely takes some abuse, so you want something that's well built. I think these are priced really appropriately for what you get, and I think they're a high quality cover. So, whether you're looking to cover up a damaged seat in your JK, trying to protect a seat that's still in good condition, or you just want a custom interior look, a set of neoprene seat covers like this are going to look good and not break the bank. That's my review of the Rugged Ridge neoprene seat covers fitting all 2007 to 2017 JKs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Key Features. You don't have to sacrifice comfort or style to protect your Jeep's front seats. These Neoprene Front Seat Covers have a great look with a black and red color scheme, adding to the customized feel of your rig. At the same time, the neoprene is durable and soft, while center pleats make them comfortable to sit on for long periods of time. Because the covers are water-resistant, you can spill drinks on them or wear a wet bathing suit and not have to worry. Each cover is tailored to fit tightly on your Jeep's OE seats, so they don't slide around or bunch up anywhere. Installation is also an easy job to take on.

Construction. Neoprene is known for being comfortable and soft, while the center pleats in the seat covers only enhances these qualities. The material can withstand all kinds of weather conditions, plus the covers can be washed in a machine on the delicate cycle, then hung up to dry. Stretchable elastic cords with nylon hooks attached to them anchor the covers to the seats.

Installation. Fortunately, you don't need any tools to install these covers. An installation guide is available, but the process is simple enough it should take you under and hour to get both covers all the way situated. Since the neoprene is stretchable, getting the covers on the seats in the right orientation is fairly simple. With the guide, figuring out where to attach the different nylon hooks on the underside of the seat isn't too complex.

Application. These Rugged Ridges Neoprene Front Seat Covers are made specifically for 2011-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. It is not compatible with Leather Seats.

      Seatcovers!!

I love my new seatcover. Read previous reviews so I was a bit nervous. Red is a trye red! Look so great and fit very nice. I did not install them myself, my husband did- he did say they were hard to do but should have put them in the sun to watm them. Would have been easier to stretch on! So happy with this purchase. Exactly what I was looking for!!

      Design is aweful

These covers are designed way too tight. The installation takes at least 1.5-2 hrs and it kills your fingers. The color does not match jeeps' firecracker red. I personally regretted buying it so much. Absolutely waste of time and money.

      Looks great, eventually

Excellent product, very difficult to push the fabric through the back of cloth the seats, [seats have very small gap between seat and back], put some plastic sheeting through first to stop the Velcro on the new covers sticking to the cloth seats, this is a workout, but absolutely worth it,

      Rugged Ridge Neoprene Seat Covers.

Tough to install, especially the front. I watched a video that recommended putting duct tape on the velcro to help slide the the top and bottom seat covers through to the rear of the seat. This technique worked great. Also, read to spray on UV protectant to help prevent fading and cracking.

      Worth the price and effort.

These are a perfect fit for my 2014 Rubicon. They are difficult to put on... but I would rather work for an hour or two to put these on and have them fit well and not slip or move when I get in or out...wouldn't you? Everyone who has sat in my Jeep has commented on these seat covers. Some reviewers have commented on these seat covers fading over time. I have protected these with UV protectant, and I haven't had them long enough to know from personal experience...but even if they do, I some of the best things in life are pink!

      Stylish/Comfortable

The seat covers arrived well packaged and on time. I own a 2013 Jeep Wrangler and for the most part they fit my model vehicle. One strap on the side was impossible to connect but was a minor connection compared to the remainder and not a requirement for them to stay snug and in place. I would say that the seats could be improved my a more sturdy stitching where the strapping connects to the seat cover itself. You have to do a bit of tugging to get them on the seats and it puts quite a bit of pressure on the stitching in that area. Otherwise, I am happy with the seats I received.

      Tight!!! Factory look!

These covers look and feel amazing after they are installed. TAPE THE VELCRO BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO PULL IT THROUGH THE SEAT!!! That velcro is crazy strong, which is a good thing after installation. The problem is, it sticks to the actual seat as you are trying to force it through. Definitely worth the $$$ and I would buy them again. I put "afternoon" for installation, but its really around an hr. The thing is, you get worn out, trying to get the velcro through and need a break or 6!!!

      They are fuchsia

The seat covers fit fabulously, they were easy to put on and they keep my legs from getting burned when I sit. I have a flame red Rubicon and the red on the seat covers look fuchsia compared. I don't mind it so much but my Harley riding husband likes to drive the jeep also and is a bit peeved about the color. I would have sent them back but I kind of tore the seam while putting the covers on, its under the seat so it doesn't show but I knew they wouldn't take back damaged goods. its a great product but not a great color match. Ill save up my money and get replacements eventually.

Nice covers but color is off

Covers fit nicely. I ordered black with red inserts to go with my firecracker red JK. Well, you could say it's a color in the red family but its more fuscia or magenta. In other words it clashes poorly with anything that is red. I sent them back immediately and got black with gray. They got well and were easy to install. Use wax paper or plastic wrap over the Velcro to ease pushing them through the uprights and seat bottom.

      Great fit, love them!

These seat covers are well worth the effort put into their installation. Be sure to put aside a few hours if you live in a warm climate. Here's my take and a few pointers: First off, the directions they come with are kind of brief and don't explain much. One might think putting in seat covers is a pretty simple job - not these. I ended up reading reviews all over the internet on them. They are very stiff, let them heat up a bit outdoors if possible. I started with the headrest, not so easy but keep stretching. The seat back is the most difficult. When pushing the part with the Velcro through the front to the back, slide a plastic bag over it to cover the Velcro, this will help it through easier and the Velcro won't get stuck to the seat, which you DON'T want to happen. Once through you're golden. Also what it doesn't note is, at the bottom of the seat back there is sort of a 'cover' or 'flap' that you will have to fold upward in order to Velcro the seat covers together. The seat bottom is not so difficult, just getting between the center console and under the seat to hook it is the worst part. You will be happy with these, believe me!
