Review & Install Video
These Rugged Ridge Black Front Upper Soft Doors are for those of you that have a 2007 and up JK that have their rugged ridge half doors installed. These are not going to work with your factory half doors but they will drop right into place on those rugged ridge half doors and essentially turn them into a full door. These are a very high quality piece, they install very easily, and once you get them adjusted, they're going to be weather tight. You're not going to get any wind noise, any whistling, or any water through these.
So again, essentially turning them into a full door until you undo the Velcro. Remove the upper half of the door and then you have all of the benefits of a half door again. Now these are going to be a little bit on the pricier side but you might expect that for the quality that you're getting. And if you've already paid the money for the half doors, again, these are going to be one of your only options for a soft upper.
As far as construction goes, like I said before, this is going to be a similar material to your factory black soft tops so it's going to match it very well. The upper door does have some Velcro on the inside, and this kit does come with Velcro that you put on the lower section of the door as well, and that's part of what helps everything get sealed up very well. The windows, of course, unzipper like a factory window would. These come with some adjustment collars on the mountain posts on the bottom of the upper so that as you set it in place, you can adjust for height, make sure that everything gets sealed up nice and tight. Again, this is all about essentially turning your half door into a full door. So very well built piece going to seal very, very well once you get it adjusted, which can be a little bit of a job, but you're really only going to have to do that once.
So I'm gonna give this a one out of three wrenches for the installation. Give yourself about an hour, maybe a little bit more. You are gonna want and take your time because while this is only something you're going to have to do once, you are going to want to do it the right way to ensure you get the maximum use from your upper doors. So the first step is going to be installing the Velcro along the top of the lower section of your door, the top of your half door. Once that's installed, you can pop the upper door into place on the lower door and you will want to lower those adjustment collars a little bit in the beginning. Get them down out of the way and make sure you're not going to bend up your upper door.
Once that's done you can close the door, check your gaps and make your adjustments from the inside, raising that door up so that it's a nice, tight fit. Then you also take a look at the rest of your weather stripping. Make any trims, any cutting. Do anything else that's necessary to make sure everything's going to open and close nice and smoothly, and seal up nice and tight.
These upper doors are gonna run you right around $360 for a pair. If you have a four-door, of course, you're gonna be buying two pair of these. When you factor in the price of the half doors themselves, these does get to be a little bit of a pricey venture. However, if you consider getting a set of factory half doors, these are still going to be significantly less expensive. Now with the factory doors, chances are you're gonna get them painted from the factory to match. These lower doors are going to be all black. Some of you like that look, some of you not so much. But again, these are gonna be a little bit less expensive.
If people already bought those doors, you're looking to turn them into more of a full door with these soft uppers. These are gonna be the only option for you. And when you consider the quality that you're getting, I don't think the price is not bad. So if you have those rugged ridge half doors on your Jeep and you're looking for your soft upper, these are going to be the way to go from rugged ridge, and you can find these right here at extremeterrain.com.
