    Review & Installation Video

This Rugged Ridge A-Pillar Switch Pod with Four Switches is for those of you that have a 2011 and up JK that are looking to add some auxiliary switches to your Jeep for really anything. These switches can run lights, can run lockers, compressors, really any accessories that you need. Although, the switches that come in this kit do already have some labels on them. So, you're gonna want to make sure that they match up with the things that you actually want to switch with those switches. Or, of course, be prepared to change out the label on the switch, which is something you can always do as well. Now, there are going to be a couple of different switch panels out there like this one. This one is very well designed. It looks a lot like the other ones. It does come with the switches if you choose for it to. So, again a lot of different options out there. This is just one of them. And, this is going to be a very good one. Now, this is gonna install very easily, just like all the other ones. It's gonna snap right in place of an existing piece of trim, right on the A-pillar of your Jeep. There's just a little bit of disassembly to do. In order to get this snapped into place, you are gonna have to do a little bit of wiring. So, I am going to give this a one out of three wrenches to get everything you see here installed on the Jeep. Overall, the install of just what you see here without any of the wires shouldn't take you more than a half hour to complete. Of course, the wiring can take a little bit longer. This A-pillar switch panel, like I said before, is well designed. It integrates really well right into your interior. It has a little bit of a texture in the plastic here that looks very similar to a lot of the other trim pieces on the interior of your Jeep. So, it really does look like it could have come right from the factory, installed in your Wrangler. Because, they do give you blanks covering up the spots for the switches on the panel. You can go ahead and install just one switch or install all four. And, because they give you five different switches with this kit, you can pick and choose which ones you want to use. A couple of these are more of a novelty-type switch. You have the Sasquatch lights. You have the zombie lights. But then, you have some more functional ones as well that are a little bit more traditional. So, you can pick and choose what you're installing in your pack. So, like I said the install for this is going to be an easy one out of three wrenches. Probably take you less than an hour to do. However, the wiring part can take longer depending on how you decide to do that, and what your comfort level is. The first step in this installation is going to be removing a couple of pieces of trim above and below the A-pillar trim that's existing on your Jeep. Then, you can go ahead and pop that piece out of the way. And then, you'll figure out how many switches you want to run in this panel right off the bat. And, make the cut-outs here, you can use a very sharp razor knife, you can use a Dremel tool, however you decide to make those cut-outs, and snap your switches into place. After that, you're probably going to want to do your wiring at this point. Pull your wires up through the dash. Make all your connections at the back of your switch. Finally, snap your new A-pillar switch panel in place where that old factory piece of trim was. And finally, put the rest of the small pieces of trim back up into place, finishing off the install. This A-pillar switch panel with switches comes in at right around $60. I do think that is gonna be a pretty fair price. You're getting something that is a very high quality. And, you're getting something that's going to work as advertised. Like I said before, there are some other options out there. Of course, you can get this without the switches for less money. You can get them from other brands. The other brands may be a couple dollars more. The switches that come with it are gonna be a little bit of a different style. So really, just comes down to what you like in your Jeep. However for this, for what you're getting, for the functionality that you're getting, I do think $60 is gonna be a pretty fair price. So, if you're looking to install some auxiliary switches in your Jeep, and you're looking for an A-pillar switch panel to house them, I definitely recommend taking a look at this option from Rugged Ridge. And, you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Are these switches illuminated when activated? I am looking for non illuminated switches so the lights aren't shining in my eyes at night. Thank you.

        • The Rugged Ridge Black A-Pillar Switch Pod w/ 4 Rocker Switches will illuminate yes. From personal experience, these switches are not terribly bright at night time but noticeable.

Do the etched switches illuminate when in the on position?

        • The Rugged Ridge Black A-Pillar Switch Pod will have built in illumination with the included switches.

What are the three prongs on the switches for. Wired my led lights on the lights on and only it's low beams came and when we were testing it the high beams came on. So I don't know if we need to hook up an other switch for the high beams or I wired them wrong, Thanks

        • The switches will have 3 posts. Won will be your 12V power going to the switch, one will be for ground, and one will be for the power leaving the switch and going to the accessory you are actuating with the switch (light, relay, etc) These switches will not have provisions for activating two functions on one light (high/low beam, white/amber) without using two switches to control two different positions of control.

What type of wiring do you need for this? Just the normal wiring for led light bar?

        • Thank you for your question! This is compatible with any wiring harness for accessory lighting.

A pillar switch pod with switches

Works great after the install. Had to cut out the spaces for the switches and trim a little at the bottom to make it fit my 2016 JKU. There was no wiring diagram so had to rely on You Tube videos. With that said, a really great product.

            So far so good.

I like it so far. The A-pillar switch pod does not extend down the same length as the original trim. Installation was simple. Be careful not to cut too much of the material out when cutting out the banks. Overall nice product.

            A-PILLAR POD

I received this item and I was so excited to get it installed. I did all the cut out and inserted all the switches in the order which I wanted them. I set the switches in a box on my living room floor that my new grille came in. The day I went to install them the box was missing. MY wife had thrown it out. Bye Bye switches (SAD FACE)

Looks factory on a 2012 JK

I got this item for my husband and he absolutely loves it. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 star is that you have to saw through the plastic to mount the switches. For a perfectionist like my hubby, it was very frustrating.

            Fits great!

Switch pod looks and fits great. Looks like a factory install. Easy install. The pod takes no time at all to install. Its the cutting out the blank switch holes and wiring the switches that takes the most time. You must cut out the blank switch plates for the switches. Best to use a rotary or dremel tool for the cuts. I don't think a knife will cut it. (nice pun!)

            Solid prosucty

This is a great product. It is well built and looks like it came from the factory. I have yet to install so I can’t tell you how easy or hard it is. The switches were hard to cut out but if you take your time it’s not to bad. I used a razor knife and it went slow but no issues. Again looks great without having it installed yet.

            Buy a dremel

We installed this on my son's 2011 JKU. We used a dremel to cut out the switch holes. Then when it came time to install, the bottom of the product was no where near what the factory was. Apparently it was changed between 2011 to 2017. After a lot of modification we got it to work. Most of the cutting was at the bottom, so dash covered it up. Looks good, just not too close.

            Great product

I wanted a clean install for my light switches that allows for future expansion and that is exactly what I got. It is not difficult to install really, but it does take patience. You will need to cut out the holes for each switch and getting it back into the original a-pillar's position takes a little effort, but it fits well once in place.

            Poor Fit

My factory A Pillar trim is much different on the backside and bottom of the piece. The piece doesnt cover the same spots on edges that the factory piece covers. No explanation on which post does what on the switches so a little experimentation is required
