Hey, guys. So, today we're checking out the Rough Country Hard Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover, fitting all 2016 and newer Toyota Tacomas with a 5-foot bed. So, if you are in search of a tonneau cover that's gonna provide a lot of security, some better aerodynamics for the back of your truck, and a very sleek look for the back of your truck, then this option by Rough Country is gonna be a great choice to take a look into. Now, there are a number of different options on the page available for tonneau covers, including soft covers and hard covers. You have tri-folds like this one, and you also have some roll-ups in a couple of different designs. But as it says in the name, this is gonna be a hard tri-fold. Now, this style of tonneau cover, and this one in specific, is gonna be great for somebody who's looking for a very easy-to-use tonneau cover, while also providing a lot of security. Now, this cover is gonna do a really good job of protecting all the valuables in your bed from any unwarranted weather, any prying eyes. And when your tailgate is up, you're not gonna be able to get into this tonneau cover if it is locked. That's gonna provide a lot of security, like I said before. Now, this is gonna be very durable, it's gonna have a UV-resistant outer layer to it, and on the inside, you're gonna have a 6061 aluminum frame. Now, that is going to up the durability, of course, but it's also going to be very lightweight and easy to operate. Now, what I do really like about the overall construction is that it's very finished. You're gonna have gaskets on the outside that are gonna give it a very finished look, and protect all the trim and paint on the body of your Tacoma. And again, it is very user-friendly. So, you're gonna have two clamps at the back that you can just unclamp when you want to use your tonneau cover. You can fold it all the way back, and you can clip it at the back to make sure that it stays secure in the back of your bed there. Now, overall, I personally think that this has a very high-quality build. And of course, it's going to create a very sleek look for the back of your truck. And with all that being said, this is gonna come in at roughly $650. And in my personal opinion, I think that that's a great price for what you're getting. Now, again, this is going to have a pretty quality build to it. In comparison to some other choices on the page, you're gonna see a couple of different options. Like I had said before, some are gonna be for a soft cover that's not gonna provide as much security like a hard cover would, and then some are going to have some different operations to them. This is going to be a tri-fold, so it's just going to fold up and sit on the back of your bed there. Some may be able to fold up against that cab area. Some may be for a roll-up or a retractable cover, and those are usually gonna be a little bit more expensive, just because they have some extra bells and whistles to them. Now, if you're not looking to break the bank, if you're looking for a durable cover that's going to provide a sleek look to the back, and also have a very quality build, I personally think that this is going to be right up your alley. Now, as far as install's concerned, I'm gonna give this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. This is very easy to use and operate. You're gonna need a couple of basic hand tools and about an hour's worth of your time to get the job done. Now, when you want to utilize your tonneau cover, all you really have to do is open up your tailgate here. You're gonna have two clamps on either side that you can pull down on and unhook. And you'll be able to completely flip this back. These will actually store down in the cover, and clip down. And then you can clip this at the back, close up your tailgate, and then you're all set to go to utilize your bed with the tonneau cover back. But, speaking of that install, let's jump into that now.The tools that I used for my install were a 3/8-inch drive ratchet, the provided Allen key, and a 12-millimeter socket. So, the first step to this install is installing our clamps on our rail here. Now, we're gonna slide two on each side up towards the front. First, we're just gonna take off this little cap at the end of our rail. And then we can take our clamp, making sure that the lip is facing down, and then we can just slide it into the rail. Now, they do have these set screws that we're gonna secure down in just a second, but you wanna make sure that the bottom is flush with the bracket so you can slide the clamp in correctly. Now, I'm just using the provided Allen key. Once those are pretty flush, we can slide these up towards the front. Now, we're not gonna tighten them down just yet. Let's repeat that process on the other side, and then we can install our tonneau cover. Next, we can grab our tonneau cover, making sure that the straps are facing the front of the vehicle, and we can put this over our bed. Now we can just align this with the back of our truck. So, what I'm gonna do, to make sure that the tonneau cover is aligned properly, is just unclip these buckles at the back. And we're gonna fold it forward and close up our tailgate, just so we can align it properly. There's gonna be protective foam, so we can take that out. This is gonna sit over the back of the bed just like this. So, what we can do is just make sure that the tonneau cover is fitting properly, by closing up our bed. As you can see, this is sitting flush on our seal. So, what we can do at this point is fold it all the way back, and start securing our clamps to the rail. So, underneath our tonneau cover, we're gonna have two main clamps. This is gonna hold it to the back of our bed here. Now, these are gonna drop down from the inside of the tonneau cover, and that's where we're going to clamp it on our clamp that's on the rail. So, we wanna make sure that this is aligned properly. And then what we can do is unthread this and clamp it into place. So, there is a nut, a washer, and a knob here. I'm just unthreading the knob. The nut on the end is loosely installed. You can just take that off for the time being. We just wanna make sure that that's low enough to hook on. And then once we have everything secure, then we can tighten this up and repeat that on the other side. So, now that we've found that that is a good mounting location, we can take our provided Allen key, and we can tighten up our clamp that's on the rail here so it doesn't move. And those little set screws will keep that in place. And then what we can do is mount this clamp underneath the clamp that's on the rail, tighten up the knob. That's going to clamp the tonneau cover to the rail. And then once that's good and tight, what we can do is take the washer and the nut that was originally installed on the bottom of this back clamp, and we can thread that on and tighten that up with a 12-millimeter socket. Then we can repeat that process on the other side. What we can do at this point is fold our tonneau cover all the way down, and then we can do the same thing with the back clamp that we did with the front one. So, what we can do at this point is align our rear clamp where we need it. We can move that clamp back, we can take our provided Allen key and tighten these set screws up, to make sure that that stays in place. Once those are all tightened up, then we can adjust the length of our clamp. Now, this is gonna allow us to open and close our tonneau cover, making sure that it's locked when it's down. And then when we want to open and utilize our tonneau cover, we're just going to unclamp this and then fold it back. So, I'm gonna line this up. So, you wanna make sure that it's a good length to hook it under, but also to clamp it down. And then we can repeat that process on the other side. So, that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install. Make sure you like and subscribe for more videos and products just like this, and always keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
