Hey, guys. So, today I'm here with the Rhino-Rack 3 cross bar heavy duty roof rack fitting all 2018 and newer 4-door JL Wranglers, equipped with the factory hardtop. So, everybody knows that storage space inside of your Wrangler is definitely limited, so having an exterior storage solution like this roof rack here is going to be a perfect option to carry any extra cargo that you might wanna take with you out on long trips, out camping, or even just whenever. So, this is perfect to mount up snowboards, surfboards, or really anything that you can fit up there up to 150 pounds, which is pretty impressive for a roof rack like this on the factory hardtop. So, this is completely removable and Rhino-Rack even does provide you with a tool to easily remove this. You can put it on, you can take it off whenever you like and you can even switch it up. If you don't wanna run the three cross bars, you can always run two or you can run none at all. So, as far as price goes guys, this is gonna be roughly $550 and I personally think if you're taking a look at the little details on this rack as a whole kit, that it's definitely worth that price. So, when you're shopping around for roof racks, there are other less expensive options, especially with sleek styles like this that will mount up to specifically a hardtop. A lot of those other options though, are not gonna have the little fine details. A lot of those other options are also gonna be just for two cross bars instead of the three that you see out of this kit. Now, speaking of Rhino-Rack specifically, this is gonna be one of their higher up models. They have two other models that we do list on the page, but this is gonna be the more heavy duty version so it's gonna last a long time and you can really see the thought and the quality put into this kit. So, I definitely think that price point is right on point. So, install is gonna be a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. As it says in the name there is no drilling, so you will need a couple of basic hand tools and the provided tool by Rhino-Rack and probably about an hour's worth of your time. So, speaking of the install, let's jump into that now. The tools that I use for my install were a dead blow, a ratchet, a 5/8-inch ratcheting wrench, a 5/8-inch short socket, and the provided Torx key. So, before we can install our roof rack we do have to do a little bit of assembly. Now, you will get a couple of different components. First off, you are gonna get these three cross bars, these are gonna be those heavy duty crossbars made of steel construction and they're also gonna have a black powder coat finish on them, give them a nice and sleek touch across the top of your JL. Now, you also are getting some heavy duty mounts here, these are gonna be no-drill mounts, so these will just mount up to the gutter and you also are getting a little strip of rubber to make sure that your hardtop is protected. Now, this is going to come with the provided tool that is going to let you loosen up the actual mounts. So, we do need to use that and then we are going to mount up our cross bars on our mounts and then throw them on our Wrangler. So, first we do have to install our rubber gaskets. This is just gonna give you some extra traction while you're mounting anything up on the top of your Jeep. So, now we can install our rubber buffer. What I would recommend instead of sliding it in, it is a little bit difficult to slide in, we're just going to pinch it and kind of get it into those channels there. I do like how it doesn't just lay flat, it does kind of bubble up, giving you that extra traction that you might need. All right, now we can do the same thing for the other two. So, what we're gonna do now is loosen up our clamps. So, you have two points of attachment. The two Torx screws down here is gonna be the actual clamping motion, and this is the part that's going to attach to your hardtop. The part that attaches to the roof rack, or the rails, or roof bars, whatever you wanna call them, these are going to be attached by this bolt as well as this slab of metal. This is going to slide into the inside of this rail and we're gonna go ahead and tighten that down and it will clamp this together holding your roof rack in place. So, you will need a 5/8-inch socket, so we're just gonna loosen that that up. We don't necessarily need to uninstall it or take it off. We just need enough gap in between to slide our rack inside. So, as a demonstration, your roof rack will slide in just like that. And then we can go back and tighten up that bottom bolt. We are going to install one side on each of our bars, then we're gonna put this on our Wrangler and then go ahead and adjust everything and tighten everything down. We just wanna make sure that these are even on both sides before we go ahead and tighten the others down. Now, we can go ahead and loosen up this clamp, you are provided a tool in order to do this. This is going to be a regular Torx bit, however, there is gonna be a hole inside of the middle of the tool because there is an indent. So, you will need to keep this. So we're just going to loosen this up so we can attach this to our gutter. As you can tell, that'll pull away. Just wanna make sure that we're not loosening it too much. As you can tell, that pulls back, right? So, now, we can install one side on to our roof rack, sliding that on. And what we're gonna do for now is just snug this up. We're not gonna necessarily need to completely tighten it, we just don't want it falling off while we're installing it on the Jeep. Now, we can do the same for the other two. So, after those are snugged up we can install these on our Wrangler. So, what we're gonna do now is gently place our roof rack over our roof. Now, we are going to clamp this in here and just position everything, then we're gonna move to the other side and slide the other heavy duty mount in. And like I said, I did leave these loose because we are gonna go back and adjust those at the end. We just wanna make sure that this is in the correct placement and that the other side is even and then we can go back and tighten everything down. So now we can do the same thing for the other two bars. Now, there are a bunch of ways to install this. You can either install the mounts first, you can install both of these on the mounts and have a second hand over on the other side helping you out. I figure it's easier to do it this way if you're by yourself and just to make sure that all of your adjustments are even. So, now we can just do the same thing that we did on the other side. Slide our mount into our rack. I am just gonna snug it out just a little bit. Once that's snug, we can put our mount into position, grab our gasket, and just make sure that all lines up. Just wanna make sure it's even on both sides, straight down the middle, then we can do the same thing for these two. So, now with a 5/8-inch ratcheting wrench, we can go ahead and tighten that down. After the bar's tightened down to our mount, we can tighten up our mount with our Torx key. After that's tightened down, you can repeat the same process on all the other mounts. So, our last step is just to put on our end caps. This is just gonna finish it up and give it a really nice touch. So, you might need a mallet to get those on here. They should slide in place, but even the instructions from Rhino-Rack say that you may need a mallet in order to get these on. So, once those are sitting flush, you can do the same thing on all of the bars. So, that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install. Make sure you like and subscribe.
